This review is specifically for Jayrun @ MINX Salon. Where do I even start? Jayrun is a GEM of a stylist, colorist and by far the most fun I've ever had getting my hair done! I found Jayrun on a whim, had an event coming up and needed my dark reddish brown (colored at home...yikes) corrected; I was looking for a chocolately/caramel mix up for the summertime. So glad she managed to fit me in before my event because she's the best!! Jayrun is a GENIUS with the color. She was very patient and spent hours on my hair the first time I visited her. She managed to correct color and left it a beautiful, natural base color with very natural looking caramel/blonde highlights. Since she cut my hair, it is easier to style and looks healthier despite the bleaching processes. The best part was that the color looked even better each time I washed it :) I recently went back to Jayrun for another process and she managed to exceed my expectations yet again. She has this magical way of making your highlights look super natural while leaving the roots the right color to frame the face. Basically, Jayrun just KNOWS what it going to look great and she doesn't fail to deliver it. As for pricing, I find it very reasonable - I honestly expected to pay more for such great quality service and results. She very generously did not charge me for the extended time and color during my first process, as well as offers salon quality products to her clients at the reduced wholesale prices. Finally, Jayrun is just the sweetest and funnest stylist I've ever been to! She makes you feel at home during your visit, follows up with her clients, and genuinely cares if you're happy with the results. I recently moved out of state and am avoiding having anything done to my hair until I'm back in Los Angeles because no one can do it that well :) read more

Hidden Gem!! I have been going to German for 15 years (Yes, I was incredibly young when I met her). Thanks to fate, I discovered her after a bad result at Umberto. She fixed my hair and I have been a loyal customer ever since. She always gives me a fantastic haircut no matter what my latest style of choice is (and I have gone through quite a few - currently a hipster fade). She is truly amazing with men's haircuts and I have referred many friends (both male and female). Her prices are far more reasonable than a lot of salons. She is in a cute two chair salon in a mid-century building on Wilshire that has easy parking. It also doesn't hurt that she is an incredibly sweet person who treats her customers like famly. I went to Jayrun for my 3rd time ever doing my hair. My ombré was orange from the last person that Styled my hair and I hated the look. First time around I didn't love my transformation because I couldn't exactly communicate what I wanted. But I went back the same week and we were able to discuss exactly what I wanted and needed and she really helped me out. I love my hair now and the best part is that the style goes with my look. Jayrun is my go-to for it all! Her color is impeccable... always gets exactly what I want every time. She spends a lot of time going over the details to make sure she does exactly what I want. She goes above and beyond to teach me about how to care for my hair so that her work lasts for months. I recommend getting her conditioning hair treatment after a cut and color... my hair never felt softer and healthier!! Whatever she used worked amazingly, even after a few weeks of washes. Also may want to take in pictures of what you want so that she can see exactly what it is that you want. But, besides all her skill and talent, she is a big ball of sunshine! 31 year old male. Had my hair cut by German today. The studio is a little difficult to find --its located just to the right of Ralphs, but there is no signage from Wilshire. I was please with my haircut. German is very nice and spent about 20 minutes or so cutting my hair. Her attention to detail is very good. She went a little short but blended well and I will definitely be back. She is only available by appointment and has been in this location for 12 years. I declined a rinse after my haircut but she did offer. I paid $20 and offered to tip but she said that wasn't necessary. For the price, this place is hard to beat. I was able to get in same day (I only had one day off work this week) and found the location easily (if you go behind by the Ralph's you'll see the sign. But really she is AMAZING, she told me the secret is to actually CARE about what you do and something so simple is not often seen these days. I loved my color in the end, we had to do a base redo for color before the highlights. But I was patient and got exactly the look I wanted. Very affordable. With parking in the back. This place is the best! I had been to other places where my color was off and not what I wanted or soooooo ridiculously expensive that it was way out of my budget.
