Let me just start by saying that Erin is so sweet and genuine! I honestly base most of my experience on chair side manner and she's got it! So I didn't do well to maintain my previously ombre hair. And much to my dismay, I saw my hair grow longer (yay) but rattier (nay) during this quarantine. I feel much lighter and my hair is so much healthier. I got 4 inches cut off, a mask treatment in between, long layers and light dusting to remove the higher up split ends. I am not sure how long she will remain open because of the recent surge, but I appreciated her salon's cleanliness, her disinfecting protocol and very importantly her TLC with my hair. And FYI we both wore our masks and I refrained from touching my phone during our session as well as washed my hands pre and post haircut. I would definitely come back. I went here for the first time and did locks of love, where they cut off 10 inches and it's donated to a non profit for charity. They did an AMAZING job and even mailed it in for me which was so sweet. Amelia then gave me a fabulous haircut, and my hair is a bit tricky to cut so it was extra impressive. Both she and the owner were super nice and friendly and they gave me one of those fancy boxes of water. Don't be put off by the fact that the salon is at the back of a bookstore - it's quirky but it works. Highly recommend! read more

It was easy to book an appointment with her from their website and I was honestly nervous about getting it cut but Mamie knows what she is doing and took her time and made my hair look amazing!!!! After my longtime hair stylist moved out of state, I had been searching for a new salon. After looking around for a while I came across Main Street salon, and decided to give them a shot. I am sooooo glad I did, as I found Emilia and she is absolutely AMAZING! I don't write many reviews but after my visit with Emilia I felt compelled to leave a review. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by a very kind lady who I believe is the owner. She was very welcoming and kind. Then I met Emilia who was so friendly and warm. She listened to all my concerns, and understood exactly what I wanted and boy did she deliver! Emilia is incredibly talented from the cut to the color, she knew her stuff. She took her time to make sure everything was perfect and exactly as I wanted. I'm very particular about how my bangs are cut and very few people can get it right, but Emilia did her thing and I was not disappointed. I usually NEVER leave reviews but I am TRUELY disappointed in my hair. This has nothing to do with the salon itself but do not book an appointment with Raquel. She is not an employee of the salon but rents a booth there. I have been to many hairstylists and have had my brunette days, platinum days, and everything in-between. I went in yesterday for a simple highlight to go back to being blonde. As most of you know who aren't naturally blonde it takes time and I understand that especially having gone through it TWICE. I walked out of the salon feeling okay about it because it was blowdried and not completely straight. When I woke up this morning I had orange, bright blonde, black, brass, literally everything in my hair. Not only will she not give me a refund but now I have to spend 3x as much to get it fixed at another salon (keep in mind my 21st birthday is this weekend and I need my hair to look FLY AF, which is doesn't at the moment). Having said that I called up the salon and they were very nice and offering to look at it but I will be going to a stylist who really know what they are doing. read more

Raquelle was pretty uncommunicative, didn't seem that interested in making sure I was happy with the haircut, and had her small baby come in well before she was done and scream for her to hurry up and finish, which she very noticeably did. After she tried to take off the apron I had to stop her and ask her to trim up the back, the main reason I came in, while her babe screamed in the arms of what I am assuming is her grandfather. I felt super weird and rude to be between a mother and her weeping child, but c'mon, I'm paying a pretty good amount for a haircut, I should not have to be put in this position. Other than that, the haircut was fine after I asked for the final trim... just super super awkward. I guess if you still decide to go don't go at the end of the day like I did. read more

Erin has taken great care of me with my desire for low-maintenance cuts that air dry well. I'll keep coming back here for reliable cuts and a personable stylist! I was visiting from out of town and relied on yelp reviews to make my decision. I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID!! Raquel cut and colored my hair exactly the way I wanted. She updated my bob short style which was what I was looking for and gave me LA hip highlights. I received so many compliments about my hair afterwards. FYI, I have straight, thick hair. My previous stylist razor cut it to lighten up the weight. Raquel totally reshaped it so I am able to keep it either straight or have beachy wave curls. Love it!!! I am sorry that some of the previous reviewers did not have a positive experience with Raquel. She took the time to listen and spent about 2.5 hours with me. I first started with a simple Groupon that I purchased for a hair cut and I loved my hair so much that when I was ready to try something new, I went back. To my delight, Raquel moved to a fantastic little salon in my neighborhood. I love the location and the spot is clean and cute. Raquel did some beautiful Carmel highlights in my hair. Michael is the owner and at the end of my session was like a friend I've known for years. I have untraditional Asian hair (thick, coarse and wavy), so he suggested the Brazilian Blowout, which is a keratin treatment to smooth and straighten your hair(advertised as $199 but because I had thick hair which was medium length he charged $250 because the chemicals were so expensive). Process took about two and half hours, but there was free 2 hour parking in the back. He offered to move my car for me which was nice. I loved the blowout, my hair is so smooth now. You can't wash your hair for 2 days which was horrible but Michael styled my hair pretty awesome so hey I was stylin for 2 days. Plus you must find sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I also told Michael I was showing a friend around LA and he gave me like 10 places to take her too. Overall, great stylist and is hilarious! read more

As a person who travels a lot, I have a hard time finding a barber or stylist that can get my hairstyle of the first try. Luckily for me I ran into one of the stylists at Salon ME in street one day. Easily the best haircut I've had in years. I've been to barbers, stylists, schools, shopping centers, and even drunken roommates all over the country. None of them came close to the level of finesse, expertise, and professionalism I experienced at Salon ME. Michael knew exactly how to approach my hair. And while a stylist in training named Tuesday was in charge of the actual cutting that day (I was a guinea pig), Michael was always there watching with a keen eye. He made sure everything was blended properly, demonstrated proper techniques, and explained why it was better to use certain methods with my hair over others. I was very impressed by his knowledge. They tried a few new things on my hair that I hadn't experienced before that ended up looking great. And when we were done Tuesday took the time to talk over a few different styling options with me talking about different products and their advantages. Salon ME is a small studio located on Main street in Culver city. Parking is a bit of an issue, especially during Tuesday's farmers market (the day this time, not the girl) so make sure you allot some extra time to find a space. So in conclusion, from a male perspective any ways, I'd recommend this salon to anyone. read more

Every time I leave Main Street Salon I have a pep in my step and a new sense of confidence because my hair always looks awesome after an appointment with Erin Zemet. I've been going to Erin (who also owns the salon) for almost a couple years now, and no matter what color or cut we try, the quality of her work is always top notch. She's a whiz when it comes to color chemistry and knowing exactly what formulas to use, and she also does a mean haircut. She's very speedy, yet precise, so you don't spend unnecessary time in the chair. She's also just a super rad person, so the appointments are fun and relaxing. The salon itself is charming, and there are only three stylists so it's not crammed full of people on the weekends like many salons are. I haven't gotten any services from the other stylists, but when I'm there they always seem to be doing great work too. I will probably never go to another salon as long as Main Street Salon is around. read more

Michael is the best stylist I've found in LA. My friend recommended him to me saying that he is the only person she trusts with her hair. Now I know what she means. I'd had two bad haircuts before coming to Salon Me, which is in a perfect location in downtown Culver City. I've waited a month to write a review because the stylist had a lovely personality and I hate to be a discouragement to her, but I think the reason these yelp reviews exist is to at times protect people from an expensive, terrible outcome. I went in to cover some gray with color and get a trim because my regular hairstylist at a different salon was not available. My incredibly specific request as a brunette to the stylist was "I do not want to leave here with inky black hair. That is the one thing I want you to avoid." I left with jet black, inky hair and a choppy haircut with no nuance or skill brought to it. If I'd gone to a walk-in strip-mall place with coupons and $25 haircuts, I'd feel this would be an inevitable result. However, This was instead one of the most expensive trips to a hair salon in my life! And the stylist was so proud of what she'd done to my hair that she wanted to photograph it. I'm not exaggerating about how bad the color was. I went from warm brown hair to black hair. My kids asked me to please not come into their school because they were so embarrassed of my hair. True story! Here's a request to stylists everywhere, but especially at this salon, if you miss the mark for your client you have missed the mark. It doesn't matter if YOU like the hair. You spent two hours with me - I have to live with this hair on my head every day. What was a fun experiment for you is my reality. If your client doesn't like it then it was a bad hair job. I think the stylist genuinely wanted to give me what I wanted, but she lacked the skills to do so. Additionally, when I was discussing the outcome with my husband he reminded me that two years ago he went to the same salon for the most expensive haircut he had ever had and had a stylist who didn't listen to him at all and gave him the opposite of what he requested. He had a different stylist than I had. So it's kind of a thing at this place. I am so angry at the money I spent there and then the money I had to spend a few weeks later to get my hair fixed with my regular stylist. I guess the silver lining is realizing what a great stylist I had in the first place! read more

Natalie did my highlights/balayage combo and I could not be happier. People have stopped me on the street to ask where I get my color done. Natalie is delightful and down to earth, as is the salon. I used to get my hair done at higher-end salons like Chris McMillan but my hair isn't that complicated and I couldn't justify consistently dropping $600 on cut and color - on top of having to schedule way in advance and having very little flexibility. I read some reviews on Michael's expertise with wavy to curly hair. So, I scheduled an appointment for my husband (who has wavy to curly hair) for a hair cut. His hair looks great even almost two months later plus he has received quite a few compliments! So, naturally I wanted to have him cut my hair too! I have the opposite type of hair my husband has (I have dark straight coarse hair) and Michael did a wonderful cut. I have also received compliments and spend less time on my hair in comparison to before at times I don't even need to blow dry my hair because it now just falls into place with the layers he added! Michael gets high ratings, because he's a true artist. I was the victim of my own stupidity. I dyed my own hair once, and it turned out fabulously, and I loved it. When my gray roots started showing, I took the exact same dye, and did it again; not so good. Now, my hair was completely black, dull, and just looked terrible. Michael has been my great friend's hair dresser for years, and she is the one who recommended that I meet him. I live in Orange County, but I made the drive. This is one decision that I am glad I made. Michael knows his stuff. He not only fixed my hair, but he recommended a cut that would work better for me. I gave him card blanche, and let him go. I wish I had a before and after photo, but of course, I looked so terrible before, I am glad I don't have any photos to remind me of my stupidity. We all know how hard it is to find a stylist we love. When my husband and I moved from Brooklyn to LA, that meant going through that process again, which I was dreading. Luckily, my husband found the best stylist we've ever had. There was no "dating" around. After my first cut and color with Erin, I knew I had found the one. Erin is a thoughtful and talented colorist, who is able to work with all textures and lengths of hair to provide a look that looks fantastic immediately and also grows out well. My husband and I have very different hair types. His is course and wavy, while mine is straightish and fine. I waited a couple of days to write this review to make sure I still loved my cut and color when styling it myself and can now say that without a doubt Erin did a fabulous job! She took me from a coppery, reddish blonde with lots of banding and greys at the roots back to my natural color (a dark brunette). I was worried about the color looking inky and lacking dimension because I haven't been this brunette in a while, but it still has beautiful highlights that look completely natural. She also gave me one of the best haircuts of my life, perfectly blending overgrown side bangs into face framing layers as I try to grow them out. My hair feels and looks the healthiest it has in a very long time. I tried this place out based on the largely positive Yelp reviews and am so glad I did! I give this salon only 1star because I felt the owner, Erin, acted very unprofessionally when she accidentally used the wrong formula on my hair (causing it to look extremely drab, flat and dull), yet refusing to correct it! Instead of fixing it, she insisted that she had not made a mistake and that the drab color occurred because - as she said - the chemistry of my hair had changed (in the 4 weeks since my prior appointment). I had thought that she would apologize and offer to correct the color, but she completely refused, and so I had to live with this really drab color until I could find a new stylist (and this was during the busy holiday season!), and it took her many weeks to finally refund the money for that appointment. So if you go to this salon, be prepared to be blamed if something goes wrong. Also be prepared to wait with either wet color/formula on your head (that's past the time for it to be washed out) or to sit with freshly shampooed hair waiting for a blow dry because she is now trying to double up on all her appointments since she only comes in 4 days a week - and so you might have to sit with damp hair for 10-13 minutes while she "finishes up" with another client. This was also extremely annoying because she acted like her time was more valuable that the customer's time, which I found very disrespectful. read more

The last three haircuts I've had from Erin have been the best I can recall. She's actually working with me to come up with a plan for my hair as I grow it out a bit longer. A plan! As a guy, I've had a hard time finding that kind of guidance and investment from a stylist, and that, along with the great results, have made me a loyal customer. And hey, it doesn't hurt that she's professional, incredibly sweet and easy to chat with through an appointment, and clearly committed to nurturing her business and making it thrive. Can't say enough good things. I'm sure she does great women's cuts, also, but from experience I can say that if you're a guy looking for someone to spend the time and attention with your hair that you've always wanted (but were maybe too afraid to ask for), Erin's absolutely the stylist for you. read more

I got my haircut by Michael recently and I'm pretty sure it was the best haircut I've ever gotten. He is very personable and made sure he understood exactly what I wanted before he cut anything. He took his time making sure everything was evenly cut and even styled my hair how I wanted it and cut it some more in the style so it looked as good as possible. You can tell he takes pride in his work and doesn't want you to have a bad haircut any more than you do. I'll definitely be using him from now on! read more
