My whole experience with Hearinglife both here at the Northfield, NJ, and the Rocky Mount, NC office was fantastic. This is the advantage of dealing with a nationwide company like HearingLife is that no matter where in you are the US you are you have the HearingLife team to help you with issues pertaining to your hearing aids. I called and spoke with Maryanne (hope I spelled it right!) who was very friendly and compassionate. She found us a charger to use for the week and had everything ready for us when we arrived soon after, saving me a five hour round trip during our vacation! The charger worked perfectly and I'm so appreciative of her help. I'll also note that they have a very nice office and ample parking. I highly recommend this company for any hearing aid needs.

In other words, they refuse to tell you what the hearing aids cost and what you are paying for the services. The cost can be over $6000 and you have no idea what hearing aids actually cost! Not disclosed are the hearing aids (recommended to me) are produced by a manufacturer who owns Hearing Life, the company the runs REM. In short, they are all owned by the same company. After the visit I emailed some questions and received a timely response. Again, in addition to the answer to my questions, I was informed the prices quoted me at my eval were "sale" prices which were going up shortly.

Their office opens at 7am, so you don't get into work late even if you have a long commute, no other doctor office offers this. The small receiver unit in my hearing aid blew-out a couple times (apparently a known issue with all manufacturers), and being able to stop in first-thing in the morning and have the problem resolved before my work day starts is exceptional. It is important when purchasing a instrument you will depend on to consider the availability and convenience of support and service.

When initially fitted, they used the results of a 5 month old hearing test. The new ones didn't sound right, so I made a second appointment and insisted on a new hearing test and reprogram, which they did. Still wasn't satisfied since my old set still worked better. Made a 3rd appointment and was told one of the hearing aides was missing data for several frequencies. Even after 3 efforts, I still didn't think they were right. Gave up and paid a different audiologist to perform a hearing test, erase the previous programing completely and reprogram them. It was his opinion that they were programmed by amateurs. Not only did the reprogram result in the new hearing aides working better than the old, I was told one of the domes was the wrong type, and that a separate program could be added to reduce background noise to enhance speech--a major problem for me. This program was added as a 5th program. Main Line only programmed 4 channels, one of which was totally useless. My visits were with 3 separate audiologists, 2 of whom had another person stop in to help. The audiologist I worked with in the past no longer worked there. I was a patient for at least 8 years and purchased my last set from them. Until last year the service was satisfactory. Something clearly changed. It troubles me to have to write such a negative review, but I don't want anyone to go through what I did. Roy T.

Turns out I do have auditory processing delays and hearing loss that explained why I was beginning to be embarrassed by the amount of times I was asking people to repeat their words.
