I'm saddened to say my first restaurant experience of 2026 was a disappointment. I was looking forward to another visit to miracle on Mercer / Franklin social but I left unsatisfied. Before my grievances, I will say our waiter Carlos offered amazing customer service and the Santa shot glasses made the night less grim. Ok for the bad: 1) The Mac and cheese one of my favorite items was take off the holiday menu, I was served the kids version as an alternative but ur was VERY bland and al dente. 2) our first batch of truffle fries was not fresh compared to the second batch we received ( there was a clear color discoloration) 3) there was an unpleasant smell as soon as we walked in - it reminded me off smelly socks , so I couldn't wait to leave to breath fresh air 4) the lollipop chicken, another one of my favorite menu items was underwhelming this time. I was looking forward to this visit for days but it was as I said very disappointing. I don't think I will be back this year. This was my 3rd visit to Franklin social and my least favorite visit. read more

We were in a festive mood and decided to go back to Miracle on Mercer again this holiday season. Unfortunately, like last year, we were sat in the back of the main dining area next to the door to their "carriage house". Again, this meant that the staff was constantly opening and closing the door between the two rooms, letting in a draft. Thankfully, it was not as bitterly cold as it was last year, but it was still a distracting and annoying interference to our experience. Since I was not the hugest fan of their food menu, we decided to stick to just drinks on this go around. I opted for the Rudolph's Replacement, since I had loved the blend of vodka, coffee liqueur, white creme de cacao, orange curacao, chai, almond milk, and aromatic bitters during my last visit. Though I was tempted to order a second of the exact same drink, I decided to branch out and try something new with the Cheery Cherry Chocosaurus. The sweet and crisp cocktail included brandy, Italian sweet vermouth, dark creme de cacao, blackberry liqueur, tart cherry, chocolate, lemon, chocolate bitters, and two brandied cherries as a garnish. I absolutely adored it and even ordered a second one. However, it clearly did not feel the same way about me, because the overload of sweetness gave me a massive headache that lasted until the next day. In addition to my drinks, I had sips of the Yippee Ki Yay Mother F****r! and the Coconut Hot Chocolate. The fowl-mouthed beverage was a sweet and nutty blend of Barbados rum, rhum agricole, Trinidad overproof rum, ube & coconut orgeat, and acid-adjusted pineapple. The creamy hot chocolate really focused on the infusion of various nuts, as it included amaretto and hazelnut, as well as the similar notes from the coconut. Both cocktails were excellent! Miracle on Mercer always provides a festive atmosphere worthy of a visit. However, when making a reservation, you might want to ask for one of the rare tables away from one of the many doors in the small space. read more

This is place is beautiful for the holidays. It really gets you into the festive spirit. The lights and the music. The drinks are all top notch. They are strong enough. The food was ok. The bao buns were yummy. The carbonara was spicy and not creamy. When I usually have it, it is made with cream. It's not that it tasted bad, it was different than any other I have had. We were having such a great time that we closed the place. I prefer this location for the ambiance. I prefer Miracle on Bloomfield for the food. I would still return. read more

Miracle on Mercer will definitely put you in the holiday spirit. It's a great time to throw on your best holiday sweater and spread some cheer! So much thought and detail went into the decor here. There's lots of holiday nostalgia and tribute to some movie classics. I've visited for brunch and dinner. While I enjoyed both menus, the brunch options were my favorite of the two. So much fun. We went twice during Christmas season and the same bartender took great care of us each time. Wish I'd gotten his name. The menu is eclectic with a bit of everything. We tried the stir fry once and loved it. Drinks are fun--we came back just for cider in fun mugs. Both times we visited we stopped in and found bar seating without a reservation, but wouldn't recommend that plan especially if you are bringing guests. read more

This was my first time at miracle on Mercer, Franklin social. We had a good time, and our bartender was fantastic. My biggest complaint is that we called in November to try to get reservations for December and we were told they do not take reservations for December. At all. When we got to the restaurant (we went Dec 14th), there were many tables available however we were told that they were reserved for people with reservations. If they don't take reservations in December or November, how did people make reservations that made us really angry and we were really close to just leaving. Christmas is still on! Not sure how long this pop up will remain open but we'll into the second week of January and im still feeling the Christmas spirit thanks to a miracle on Mercer. Upon entering the establishment my nose was greeted to all the Christmas spices (thanks to scented candles). The decor was top notched and well detailed from the Christmas lights hanging on the ceiling to the Christmas tree with ornaments that looks like mini lava lamps, to the wrapping paper lined decorations on the wall. I wish this was an all year round thing. It really makes this place stand out from all the others. I really enjoyed the festive cocktails as well. I got the bad Santa and it reminded me of alcoholic hot chocolate mixed with a bit of spice. I would get that over and over again any time especially when it's cold out. Please bring that back next year too! Santa T. rex was good only after the ice melted a bit and the On Dascher was ok but I personally don't like that type of flavor. read more

I had made a reservation for my cousin & I weeks in advanced and I'm so glad that I did because we arrived at the restaurant earlier but couldn't get seated because it was super packed (yes even the bar)! Upon walking in, it's like Christmas threw up all over the restaurant.. literally.. but in a good way of course - it was decorated beautifully and was cozy with Christmas music playing in the background. We had just finished eating lunch a few streets down but came for the drinks. We ordered a side of fries to just snack on but the drinks were so good + strong! Visited Miracle on Mercer with a friend right around the Christmas or pre-Christmas season, and it was beautifully decorated and cozy. Got the popcorn and a cocktail. Came here with my cousin. We ordered chicken lollipops, mussels, baked Mac n cheese and I ordered the drink with bourbon (I do not recall the name). The chicken pops were really good, mussels were good, Mac n cheese was okay. The best part of this was the drink!!!! The downer was the fact that you are timed from the time of your reservation. You have 90 minutes to sit, order, eat and drink and there are no exceptions. I can't say I was fond of the timeline. I understand with Covid they need to get people in and out but being rushed when I am out trying to enjoy a meal is not ideal. Visited this restaurant because I saw how nicely decorated it was! I'm so glad I came because it was so festive. There were so many nice decorations to see. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. I originally did not make a reservation and she let me know when they had availability. Definitely make a reservation! The drinks were very seasonal and good. My Christmapolitan tasted like candy but was a bit too bitter for my liking. My boyfriend liked his Fruitcake Flip but I didn't like the flavor. It depends on whatever your preference is of course. For dinner I got the burger with fries. The burger was really greasy which I did not like but the flavor was good and I was surprised they gave cajun seasoned fries. Very delicious! My boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich and he really liked it. I tried it and I preferred it over the burger. The bathroom was very clean and I had to take a photo because the "wash or die" sign was so funny. Late review (I forgot I left this in my drafts), but here it is: To start, I want to mention I first stopped by on a Wednesday night (12/4) with a group of friends and they were closed! The website clearly stated that they were open (even until 2am), but the bar was closed and there was no signage on the door explaining the reason. Pretty disappointing. I tried coming back here two weeks later, this time with a Resy reservation. We were promptly seated towards the back, and I noticed that this restaurant is actually quite long and extends into two other rooms. The festive decor here is beautiful - lots of colorful lights and Christmas touches combined with dark, loungey vibes. Food-wise, I shared the Charred Cauliflower Dip and Tempura Long Beans. Both were nicely presented and tasted decent but definitely pricey for appetizers. For drinks, I tried the Bad Santa cocktail (served hot with rum, batavia arrack, black chai tea, date-infused oat milk, vanilla syrup). The moment you bring the cup towards you, there's a very sharp alcohol smell that hits you; it's rather unpleasant when it's so strong and it's like the rum is slowly evaporating into your nose as you drink it. I couldn't taste anything other than the rum in the drink - which would be fine if I were buying a shot but I wasn't. Funny enough, the couple next to us also ordered this cocktail and had the same exact comments. On the other hand, I enjoyed the sips of my boyfriend's Gingerbread Flip. I've been to Miracle Pop-Up bars elsewhere and liked the other cocktails on this Miracle Bar menu, so maybe the Bad Santa is just a pass for me. Overall this is a cute spot; I'd probably come back with friends for drinks but skip the food. Definitely make a reservation if you plan to come, especially on the weekends. read more

Miracle on Mercer is a pop up Christmas bar that is currently occupying the space that is soon to be Franklin Social (former PJ Ryans). From what I can tell they got a bit of a late start, but now they are in full swing for the rest of December! The space is insanely gorgeous. Every single inch is thoughtfully decorated and you truly feel like you have entered a Christmas wonderland. There is a super cute drink menu with a variety of holiday cocktails. Cocktails are $13 a piece (they were labeled $16 online, but $13 in store) and they also have $6 shots along with some wine and beer options. My cocktail was served in a santa t-rex mug and was a delicious blend of whiskey and cider. I also tried the nice shot which was supposed to be a blend of rum, peppermint and chocolate. Unfortunately it really just tasted like a regular rum shot mixed with a little bit of mouthwash. It took a little while for our drinks to come out, but not surprising given how insanely packed they were. The bartenders were hustling SO hard, so kudos to them. Overall this was a really great experience and I'd urge anyone to stop by for a festive drink while the holiday season is in full force. There is only one important thing to note -- you can't just walk in. There is a literal bouncer at the door. You'll need a reservation if you want to sit, and if you are lucky enough to snag one of the ~15-20 ish seats at the bar there will need to be an open seat to get inside. Their website does not really specify this. We got incredibly lucky and snagged the last two seats at the bar, but just note that it might be very hard to walk in. Miracle really made the Franklin Social look like Santa's workshop puked all over the place. Wrapping paper lined walls, stringed lights, mistletoe, disgruntled elves; you get the idea. Made a reservation because it's Christmas time and you're special kind of jackass if you think you can walk in and be seated for these pop-up events without issue. Service was great, had the filet mignon with bone marrow and caulilini. Steak was tender, juicy and medium rare, full of flavor. Bone marrow was warm and buttery, you could feel it in your soul. It's hard not to thoroughly enjoy a good Christmas bar. I have here with my hubby and another couple for dinner and drinks. My friend and I shared the pasta (which was surprisingly good) and the boys had burgers which they basically inhaled. So a beautiful new restaurant with decent food is definitely a win in jersey city! Aside from the food I was very pleased with the length to which they went to decorate to Christmas. It's literally the only real Christmas bar in the area. It's nice not to have to go into the city to feel the Christmas spirit. The drinks were also delicious! The iced hot chocolate was a bit. I think I got the run run reindeer also delicious. My hubby loves egg nog and got the spiked egg nog drink that he thoroughly enjoyed. I have high hopes for the restaurant when it opens :) read more

Nicest guys you'll ever meet. I flew into Newark on business and got to my hotel close to this place late at night. They were literally wiping everything down and ready close up, but when I let them know I just needed a couple of beers before I turned down they were happy to accommodate. They chatted with me while they cleaned up and asked me all about California, what I was in town for, and talked through their process of decorating for Christmas. They were apologetic that they couldn't cook anything up for me but recommended where I could get a slice before bed. Literally the nicest guys and even let me take pictures of the decor so that I can use it as inspiration for my Christmas decorations at home. When we booked our reservation via Resy more than a month ago, we selected a table in the carriage house. However, when we arrived, the hostess informed us this wasn't binding and instead sat us in a corner next to the door where we had a lovely view of other guests' arses. We've been in search of Miracle pop ups in the SF and NY/NJ areas and decided to come here for cocktails after an amazing meal at Razzas. We didn't have a reservation so they told us they couldn't have us, (even though there were many open tables - the entire back room was empty) but when I asked if we could stand by the bar area they reluctantly agreed as long as we weren't in the hall way. We found a spot to stand with a shelf to place your drinks by, and so I proceeded to ask the bartender if we can see a menu to place our cocktails. The bartender said someone from the wait staff would come to us. 15 min later still no wait staff, no menu. Finally someone came by and asked if we were waiting for drinks before they realized we didn't even have menus. Another 10-15 min went by and our waitress came by to ask for our drinks. After placing our order, I felt like it took at least 20 min for us to get our cocktails, honestly thought we were ignored or they had forgotten about our drinks. The cocktails themselves were very sweet compared to other Miracle pop ups (same drinks), and so we finished them early and wanted to get out of there. Apparently our waitress disappeared completely and we were just standing around for another 20 min, trying to get someone's attention (mind you at this point the bartenders didn't want to talk to us either). Eventually someone else came by and asked if we needed anything and we informed them we'd like our check. She then proceeded to give us the wrong check with a bunch of food items (we didn't order any food) before we let her know what we had ordered. Anyways, eventually we got our check and surprise surprise a mandatory 20% gratuity was added. I was completely pissed at this point - after talking up the Miracle pop ups to my parents and other family members I felt so embarrassed by how we were treated. After we left the tables were still empty, clearly not reserved for anyone. Will not be back. Oh, and the decorations themselves were lackluster compared to other Miracle pop ups. read more

Well this is Christmas! Drinks are great. The problem is the size of the restaurant is too small ! I recommend that you make a reservation. I didn't. It was a Friday night and at 6:00 pm they were booked... for the evening. I saw empty tables so immediately I was suspicious. They have a policy they if you don't have a reservation you can sit at the bar or a side ledge that they have. I sat at the ledge. I was in the front and watched the manager turn away at least thirty people, not exaggerating. At 6:00 the bar was 100% occupied. I found out why. The drinks!!! The best in Jerset City. The dessert? Fun and delish. We finally got seats at the bar and ate, and laughed and will be back again. Will make reservations this time. read more

Update to original review: I was contacted by the owner of Franklin Social who personally expressed his disappointment in my experience and invited me back to give Miracle on Mercer another try. I was impressed my his sincerity and graciousness and will definitely go back! On his actions alone, I boost Miracle on Mercer to FIVE STARS. Three of us went on Monday night 12/7 for apps, drinks and desserts. The inside decor was cute but we couldn't order one of the drinks we wanted (out of the ingredients), we couldn't order one of the apps we wanted (out of Bavarian pretzels) and we couldn't order the dessert we wanted (the chocolate cake/torte). The final straw was the three of us decided to share two Clofouti's - they only had ONE left. The excuse shared by two servers was "Well, it's Monday," seeming to imply that after a busy weekend it was OK to be out of everything. It was a very disappointing visit. read more

I visited this pop up in January, this is a cute Christmas restaurant that has Christmas spirit written all over it. There is gift wrap everywhere, ornaments and Christmas lights. You need a reservation! We were told it was a 90 minute seating and that is totally understandable due to limited capacity and reservations. There is no exceptions, we were basically rushed and we wanted to order another round of drinks the waiter had to really think about it. I don't like the constant reminders of time limits when you are just trying to enjoy your food at a pop up like this. Maybe the time limit can go up to 2 hours given that it's a pop up. I'm not sure what this place is when it's NOT covid, as I didn't go inside. My daughter booked a reservation and called it "a holiday bar" so we went for an outdoor covid happy hour before dinner. We were seated in a mostly covered area with heaters and told we had 90 minutes. Although it was still a bit chilly, we were able to enjoy ourselves. Now on to the good part. Holiday Cocktails! The Bad Santa was rum based and included chai tea and vanilla. Delicious. The Jingle Balls Nog was hands down our favorite -- a light and tasty eggnog with sherry and cognac. The Christmas Carol Barrel was a combo of tequila, coffee liquor and hot chocolate. The SanTaRex was made with whiskey, sherry, apple cider (spiced) and hard cider. If you want a local place that has Christmas ambiance and good drinks....this may be your place. Food was not good and neither was the service. We ordered two drinks from the bar and it took 30 minutes. The place was not busy, there were plenty of empty tables. Our waiter was not friendly at all. When we received our meal it was cold. I'm not one to send anything back to the kitchen. Do not order the French toast. It basically was made from white sandwich bread. It was not thick and fluffy. When we got the check, gratuity was included. I don't think that was fair especially since there were only three of us and our waiter was awful. Do I recommend this place...not really.
