Lots of unique cocktails to choose from - lots of smokey options as well as more fruity. What a gem to find this quaint speakeasy in Jersey City! After dinner at Franklin Social, we found this bar right next door, which turns out they're under the same ownership. It can be easy to miss the entrance here, but make sure you look for the address on the door. Once you enter, go upstairs to an intimate attic room with stained glass windows. The space only fits about 20 people with no tables bigger than 4 people. It's the perfect date night spot that feels so secretive and cozy. We started off with the Benjamin's Afternoon Tea ($16) and Smoke 'em If You Got 'em ($16). These are both smoky cocktails with dark and spicy notes. I also liked how the "tea" was actually served in a teacup, so cute. Next, we both decided to be adventurous and got the Dealer's Choice ($18). This is fun and unique as you choose the type of spirit, flavor profile, and glassware for the bartender to create your own cocktail. I ended up with a spicy whiskey, which was OK. I suppose whiskey is better off with a smoky profile, which is why most cocktails are made this way. Either way, it was a fun experiment. Overall, loved the ambiance of this place. They also offered some complimentary nuts for the table too. Do note that they charge a 3% credit card processing fee and there's a 20% automatic gratuity. Love love love. Not only are the bartenders incredibly knowledgeable but this place is my favorite for an intimate girls night or date night. Never had a bad drink here. And i always do bartenders choice. I mwan rhey are the experts! Two things i wouls change and this is really just my personal preference and has nothing to do with the quality or experience 1) wish they would play soulful jazz music instead of the roaring band playlist 2) wish they would go back to reservations instead of walk in. Was visiting town and decided to stop in here on the recommendation of a friend. We arrived on the earlier side and were seated within a few moments. I love the vibe of this place. Old but cozy and speak easy ish. We each got a cocktail some of us made our own. When we received the bill, we noticed gratuity was included already. I feel like not many places do this, fine no big deal, but I'm glad that we noticed it. When we got the credit card receipts to sign, they also put the tip line again! Never good experience here. This is tied for my least favorite bar in Jersey city. This was my third time it was setting foot in this place. However, the first time I've been able to have a cocktail. The last several times I was there were seating issues. Staff doesn't like you to speak to other people about possibly switching over a seat to accommodate three people. It's really odd they would rather let three or four potential guests leave rather than moving over one seat at the bar. Well that is that for the last few times and this time the four of us were able to get a the table under the cold vents. We asked to move and that wasn't much of a hassle. I will say that two others in my party had been here before and had pleasurable experiences. For me, just doesn't do it. There's not a smile from the staff, it seems very inconvenient for them to be in work. Out of the three cocktails I had, I liked zero of them. Everything was too sour, too bitter or just improperly made. It's okay, I will go on and Junto will go on. We will go on separately and we'll go on happily. Can't believe it's taken me so long to come here - incredible ambiance/vibe, both the menu cocktails and dealer's choice cocktails were fantastic with a lot of intention and detail, but the food (Franklin Social) made me melt. I got the Franklin burger, truffle fries, Caesar salad and sishito peppers. Open the door, walk up the stairs. Juno Attic bar have a hand full of tables, and couches, and a hightop bar area. They can seat maybe 25 people. Its just 1 room, with a 1 stall bathroom off to the side. I came on a sunday night for my birthday, there was only 1 bar tender, and no reservations needed. There were 2 people having drinks and midway through my time, a group of 6 came. keep in mind, they do not allow large groups. if you come with a group, you might not be able to sit with eachother. they do not offer food. their menu is small, but will open your eyes and taste buds to craft cocktails. We were greeted right away by the bar tender, who seated us. we were given water and menus right away. about 3 mins later, we were greeted with a "welcome drink". This was awesome, hello did someone say great hospiltality?! i love free shit, especially high quality drinks. Ask me what it was. i cant tell you. it had absinthe and it was refreshing. my date and i truly had a great time. its a calm place, but the service and drinks were phenomneal. Look, listen...the drinks are $15 bucks, but well worth it. we had a nice buzz. the flavor is impecable. i would never pair these items together. give me a beer and a tequila shot, and im good. First, make a reservation if you're visiting on any peak hours! It is such a quaint bar perfect for dates night or catching up with a friend. It's not very large so I would come with more than maybe 4 friends. The drinks here are good and they pour well. I ordered Apples and Almond and the Farmer Almanac. My bf ordered Yamabouki (I think that was the name) and the African flower. They're great! The staff here are also pretty nice. It doesn't get too loud where you can't hear yourself think. read more

And not just the wait time, but the wait time on the drinks you order after you get seated? 30 mins minimum on the weekend. So you order a first drink, finish it and then wait atleast 30-35 mins to get the second. Not acceptable! Just two people serving on the weekend and wait times are too high. I think they are trying to create an intimate atmosphere with the bartenders and guest... but I would rather get faster service than the bartenders running around. There is one additional.. hostess who just stands ther the majority of the time? This person can serve instead IMO. Maybe if the bartenders gave exquisite descriptions or strike really good convos, them serving makes sense... but they don't. They also didn't let us order 2 at a time. Drinks are OK. Nope, couldn't go there either due to their weird "no standing policy". When we asked a gentlemen to move down to allow for 1 more seat at the bar, we were looked as if we asked this guy to get up and leave. Extremely glad that one doesn't need to jump across Hudson seeking for craft cocktail spot/speakeasy, thanks to Junto. Came here after procrastinating for couple of months and now kick myself for not coming here earlier, better late than never. The concoctions are top notch, one can see the mixologist are serious about their craft, they take pride in making the cocktails from best in class ingredients. The ambiance and the fact that one takes a flight of stairs to the place is very reminiscent of a real New York speakeasy. With the vintage style church glass behind the bar adds an amazing character to the entire place, the lighting and the music with the wonderful drinks just eases you into a wonderful evening. The staff and the service is absolutely in-par with the ambiance and the drinks. Gabriella, the manager is a true hostess and made our visit absolutely memorable. Although there is usually a good wait during the peak evening hours, Gabriella was able to accommodate us very quickly once a spot for 2 opened up. She even graciously moved us to a spot I expressed my desire to be seated at. All the mixologist come up to the patrons, explain the menu and recommend drinks per requested taste/flavor profile. The bespoke cocktails made to one's taste and request and spot and do not hesitate to entrust your taste into the hand of these artists. Verdict - Phenomenal speakeasy cocktail spot! I've been here multiple times (and introduced it to friends) and I've always had a great time. We usually arrive around when they open since it's a pretty small space and fills up quickly. All the drinks I've had have been good, but the best part is always the custom drinks. Unlike other bars that do the bespoke drinks but just make you a pretty simple existing drink, the bartender (I think I've had the same bartender every time) makes really original drinks with different but cohesive flavors. read more

Hooray for a *secret* speakeasy in Jersey City! Though the secret may be out now, it just wouldn't be right to hold back on expressing my love for this seriously cool hidden gem. The Junto is of course closed, but before Covid-19 closures it had recently opened up above the relatively new Franklin Social, a restaurant in downtown JC. You can't walk upstairs through Franklin Social and instead have to head in through a side door. Like any proper speakeasy, the space is dimly lit and swanky. There is a beautiful stained glass window above the bar and almost feels a bit like a church. It's super cozy with only a few tables -- they don't allow parties larger than four and it's for good reason! Most importantly, the cocktail list is extensive and the drinks are delicious and beautifully crafted. The menu is like a small book. I ordered a Tom Collins and it was so refreshing with lots of fresh mint. I can't remember exact prices, but I want to say that cocktails start at around $15. I've been making lots of at-home cocktails, but one thing that's really hard to replicate is the ambiance of a bar like The Junto. I can't wait to return once it's okay to! read more

Came here for the first time ever on a Tuesday night right after opening. We got a table right away, but the place did start filling up quickly during the time we were there (about an hour). It's a cozy spot with romantic lighting and simple but effective design choices. The bar is gorgeous. The servers were attentive; no, the service isn't terribly fast, but that's because of the attention to detail they put into the drinks. Both drinks were fantastic! I got a Perfect Frequency and my partner got a Dealer's Choice with Genever, which the bartender said is almost never ordered. She made an amazing drink with it too, so even though it wasn't a popular spirit, she knew what she was doing. We will absolutely be back for a romantic and cozy drink! read more

The bartenders are super knowledgeable of their craft, very friendly, and the atmosphere is so chill They don't do advanced reservations and it's a small space, so get there early. They do have a wait list though and will text you when your table is ready. I went over the weekend with a friend for the first time. They started us out with complementary cocktails in cute tea cups. The cocktail was so smooth, it was a great start to the night Next up we let the bartenders determine our drinks. I chose tequila, spicy, in a coupe glass. Sam (I'm so sorry if that's not right) our bartender whipped up a really tasty tequila drink that combined the perfect amount of spice and CELERY BITTERS! I didn't know that was even a thing and the flavor profile was excellent. I loved it so much that I asked where I could get my own bottle of celery bitters. Imagine that in a bloody Mary, a gin & tonic, or combined with basil? It's like the perfect summer bitters Anyway this place is great and I highly recommend everyone check it out! read more

BC (before Covid) I came here with a friend after being told about it by a Jersey City local and we had such a cool night! It was so fun trying to track down this off the map spot and then being led up to the Attic. It's an incredibly warm and cozy space. There is stained glass windows, arm chairs and a fireplace. You'll want to move in. Menus were leather bound and every drink I've had here has been incredible. I wasn't sure if they were around during pandemic times but good news THEY ARE. The space, drinks, bartenders, EVERYTHING is just as wonderful as always. It is a very small space but they had capacity capped at only a few people so it was a great experience, as always. I am pretty sure more people know about them (which is a good thing, I know I know). But now I don't feel as cool when I bring people here so I've lost some street cred. i came here in a party of 4 on a monday night and we had to wait a bit for a table. they don't take reservations but you can text them to get on their waitlist. we were dining at franklin social just next door so it was easy to check on when our table would be ready. i believe that this spot and franklin social are owned by the same management (sister restaurants). everything is very dim-lit and we saw other people drinking here who looked like they were on dates. it definitely is a very intimate spot. their menus are really cute and we all decided to go for the dealer's choice ($18) which is where you tell the server what kind of drink you're feeling, and the bartender will make a drink with that info. THEY WERE ALL SO GOOD! i thought it was kind of pricey but for the ~experience~, sure, i'll take it! i said i wanted something fruity, light, and fun, and they gave me a fruity pink drink with lychee and other fruit flavors in it which i can't remember anymore. one of my friends wanted pebble ice and she got pebble ice and it was perfect for her. the other wanted a refreshing drink in a martini glass and she got a cucumber-y mint-y concoction. overall this was such a fun speakeasy-type spot and i would go again! read more

After vowing to check it out for a long time, we finally made it to The Junto Attic Bar. We are now happy to have a new addition to our repertoire of Jersey City cocktail destinations. Gabi took good care of us at the bar and decor was appropriately speakeasy style, with Gilded Age-esque flourishes and a nice stained glass bar backdrop. We loved the tequila old fashioned, a great new twist on an old favorite. The "dealer's choice," where the bartender takes your liquor and flavor profile preferences and creates a unique cocktail, brought me a spicy mezcal with pineapple drink that I loved. The bar is small and not the most lively, but works as a good place for a quality drink. No food or snack options were available when we were there. We'll definitely return. read more

I'm giving it a 3. The attitude and acumen from the bartender with the glasses and the high man bun ain't it. Slipped in an extra drink on my check that our party of 3 waited ages for but never got, and then poorly tried to damage control the situation. I asked the hostess (who was REALLY great) for my check after a 30 min wait for one additional cocktail that never came. She brought over the check for our initial three drinks received (cool) but then came back with a new check, saying there was a mistake. The new check included the extra cocktail we never got? Nah man. I sent the check back and said I'd only be paying for the three we received; and only THEN did the bartender bring the drink over. I declined it and told him I already asked to close out, and he proceeded to tell me how it takes time for him to handcraft cocktails. (in my history of speakeasies, never has a bartender/mixologist EVER said something so asinine ). I told him I didn't doubt his hard work (‍and I really didn't, so wasn't even sure how we got here) but he just walked away with the drink back to the bar (with all his feelings and emotions). But my man STILL had the hostess come over with the check with the additional drink. I'm so annoyed at the audacity of this guy I'm just trying to pay to be out this establishment at this point. The hostess takes the card but I don't get it back for a good 5-10 minutes - so here we are, still waiting...Wondering what is going on. But it turns out the hostess went to get the manager who came over to comp the drink and resolve the issue. I appreciate the hostess taking the lead on this and the manager handling the situation. With enough time, my man can make a solid drink - absolutely... ...but customer service is not his forte. We won't return. read more

If 10 stars were available I would give it that . This is by far the best cocktail spot in JC. The thought, passion and creativity put into each cocktail in the menu is superb. I go to Junto 1-2 a week and am amazed every single time. Either with the drinks on the menu such as the From the Ashes, Paper Machete, Across the Night ( tried this today !)or when I request a dealer's choice, the care to prepare the best cocktail always comes through. The service is impeccable, ALL the bartenders - Ricki ( THE Guru), Connor, Austin and Zach - all rockstars in this craft- are the most down to earth and nicest of people ensuring you have the best experience. Love it here. Got a custom drink and it was exactly what I needed. Also amazingly strong, worth the money but so tasty. I don't know what's in it but it tastes great and seems to match my mood well. Bartenders are so friendly! Cheyenne made my drink. Get the drink where the bartenders custom make the drink, or get one of the house cocktails because they looked really good. I actually considered not writing a review for this place because it's soooooo good and thought it might be better to keep it a secret. But sense prevailed and I came to the conclusion that this place needs all the rave reviews it can get. Junto is amazing and probably the only true speakeasy in Jersey City. We recently visited for their new covid precautions compliant cocktail hour experience. They had the capacity capped at 8 people and there was ample distancing between parties. Our server was really nice and the drinks were bomb! We started off with mulled wine and went on to try some of their bourbon and scotch cocktails. The last drink of course had to be the dealer's choice where you pick the alcohol and flavour profile and let the bartender work his magic to customize a drink for you. My favourite drink of the evening was one of their scotch cocktails called Third Marriage. Their cocktail experience is available for booking via Resy but it usually sells out so I would recommend booking in advance. Trust me, the $50 price tag is worth the three drinks and the experience. read more
