I lost 145 lbs, and to celebrate, I wanted to go blonde. Instead, I walked out of the salon looking like a joke, $245.66 poorer. Words can't fully describe the despair I felt leaving that salon. They didn't listen to my requests--instead, they told me what I should want. When I said no and explained what I actually wanted, the stylist, Gary, eventually agreed but proceeded to do what *he* wanted anyway. Here's what happened: 1. Neglect: I was left alone with bleach in my hair for 1.5 hours, and Gary didn't check the foils even once during that time. 2. Unapproved haircut: I asked for a 2-inch trim, but he cut off 6 inches without asking. I was trying to grow my hair out, and now it's all gone. 3. Uneven haircut:The cut is uneven all around. 4. Uneven color: My hair has blotches of platinum, yellow, and my natural color where he didn't bleach at all. 5. Ignored requests: He ignored everything I asked for. He was juggling three clients at once, leaving each of us alone for 30+ minutes. Everyone left with yellow or uneven hair but was forced to pay full price. 6. Stylist consultations:I consulted with three different salons after my visit to Mirage. Every stylist was baffled by Gary's work. They explained that any professional should be able to lift virgin hair evenly, but he didn't. 7. Forced payment & pressure:I was forced to pay $245.66 for a disaster. Gary was incredibly mean and pressured me to say I liked it. 8. Unkind treatment: I begged not to have to pay. I've never encountered such unprofessional and unkind behavior in a salon. The relationship between a stylist and client is sacred. We trust you to with our hair and believe you want the best for us. He didn't care at all. I was so saddened by his behavior and my hair. I cried all night after leaving. ): 9. Owner's response:When I reached out to the owner, she dismissed me, essentially saying, "tough luck." I ended up spending $500 at another salon to fix the damage. I can't even bring myself to share photos--it's too humiliating. I look like a Polly Pocket doll from the '90s. ): All I wanted was a refund, but they denied me multiple times. Please, don't go there. I have been coming here for about 7 years. I was lucky enough to find Lety who is my one and only hair stylist. Not only is she an amazing person, but she is knowledgeable and a talented hair stylist. She has never disappointed me yet. The best haircut I've had in years! I had been a Gene Juarez girl for the past 10 years, having three different stylists, and have never had a cut this amazing. Laura made time for me quickly. Her consultation was thorough. My layers are lovely and the ends clean with movement. My boyfriend event commented, several times, how great my hair looks. Laura really goes above and beyond on service. I came in for a haircut, and she offered that if I wanted any adjustment to the cut, I could let her know and she would find a time to accommodate me. I did end up wanting a minor change, and she found time for me to come back in on the very same day. I've never had any stylist offer that before. She had also noticed I had some mineral buildup in my ends and gave me a product free of charge to use for that. (And it seems to be working!) read more

We'll I decided to go here because of the high reviews but, I will definitely not be going back! First off, there is no receptionist. I arrived 10 minutes early and was never greeted or acknowledged. I walked back and forth to make sure someone knew I was there. I then went to the restroom and saw Dori, the lady that was supposed to do my hair, sitting at her chair chatting away. Finally, 20 minutes after I arrived, she acknowledges me and says, "are you here for me?" That set the tone for the appt. When a woman asks for a certain color or cut, NEVER say, no let's do it this way because it's more age appropriate!!! I was so insulted that straight bangs were that big of a deal for a 42 yr old woman. She styled my hair as if I were in my 50s. Not that there is anything wrong with that age but I'm not 50. Laura gave me the best haircut and color I have had since moving to Seattle 7 years ago! Once I was able to let go of my stylist in Colorado I started looking around Seattle and Bellevue for a good stylist that could cut naturally curly hair. I needed a cut and color that would work for me wearing my hair either curly or straight. Most of the time the stylists I have seen (at the expensive saloons) would get the layering wrong and when I styled it at home I could see and feel where the messed up. When I lived on the eastside this was my favorite. Set in a converted, cozy, little, yellow house in downtown Redmond, Mirage is a warm, casual setting. Absolutely no bad, high- fashion-I'm-an-artissst stylists here. If you show up straight from the gym you won't be made to feel like an outcast. No blaring music, harsh lights, and snootiness. Just genuinely friendly staff who are on top of their game and enjoy their work. Prices vary by stylist, so ask when making a reservation. Very good prices on products and styling gear in the front. Parking is shared with the auto-supply place beside it, which at sometimes of the day can be tricky; but free street parking is always an option. Only reason it is 4 and not 5 stars is the lack of front desk staff at times. read more

I've been going here for almost 3 years and I can't believe I haven't Yelped about it yet. I have to give the place a 4 star because I'm a fan of my hair stylist, not necessarily the actual place. It's a small, comfortably converted house next to the Napa Auto (you have to share parking with them or park on the street but I've never had problems). Kaysi is the only stylist I've had where I feel comfortable about going out and about after my cut. Normally, I would race home, rinse my hair and restyle because the cutter would enforce some kind of artiste viewpoint that made me look dorky. Kaysi always does a great job, is a nice, quiet spoken woman who really cares about her clients and most importantly here....makes me feel comfortable about chatting. Note: I normally do not chat in salons. I go there to get my hair cut, not interested in discussing the latest Cosmo gossip, let alone talking about other personal things in my life. Get in, get out, get on with my day, is usually my motto. However, Kaysi is a very genuine person. If a first timer, she asks what YOU want, what YOU feel comfortable with and if YOU have any specific hair issues she should be aware of. How about that? Someone who realizes it's YOUR hair, not their personal palette. But that's not to say she doesn't have a clue where innovation is concerned. She'll take the time to discuss new styles and gets as much enjoyment out of making you look good with a new style as you do. Some of her clients have been coming to her for years, that's how devoted they are to her. And I'll definitely follow her around if she ever leaves to go to another place. read more

The Mirage... Aka The Miracle. Let's start with the one thing I did not like, just to get it out of the way. When I walked in there was a sign that said: If no one ask at the front desk, please walk to your stylist. Soooo... Yeah that's odd. What if I don't know my stylist or if my stylist is still with a client? Anyways, I got my hair done by Danette. This was the first time in 8 years that my appointment was under two hours. Danette managed to do a full highlight, deep conditioning, cut, and blow dry in an hour and fifteen minutes. Thus: The Miracle. Everyone at the salon was friendly and upbeat. I typically leave hair appointments ready to pull my hair out because I've been stuck in a chair staring at my unflattering self for 3.5 hours. Fortunately I felt the complete opposite after this experience. read more

I had Tamara today to fix a horrible Groupon "do" (Groupon was very good about the refund.) She asked questions about what I wanted, looked at skin tone, asked about makeup, and all around did a fantastic job in the pre-design phase. We talked about hair products and styling tools. Basically she kicked the butt of pretty much everyone I've ever had work on my hair. She spent a great deal of time getting everything to my liking (especially after my hair trauma just a couple weeks ago - elsewhere). And we worked out a long term plan I can live with and truly look forward to. She is a genuinely nice, helpful, and big hearted person. I was in desperate need of a haircut after moving to the area and putting off the whole "new hairstylist" search a bit too long. After seeing good reviews for this salon, I decided to bite the bullet and make an appointment. While I appreciate the fact that Diane was able to accommodate me that day, I walked away with a so-so experience and a less than satisfactory haircut. Diane had a family friend there that was having some fun coloring done, and she spent much of the time talking about that, checking on her every so often, etc. She was still very personable, and I was fine with it at the time, but the haircut I ended up with makes me wonder if maybe she was distracted (especially since the salon generally has such good reviews.) I showed her pictures on my phone of a haircut I wanted. The pictures showed the model from multiple angles, and I even pointed out what I liked about the shape. Diane assured me that she knew what I wanted. In the end, the haircut I got was not very much like the picture, (it's shorter in the problem areas, not longer, so I can't even get it fixed) but even worse, it's not a very good cut and I now have ridges going around the back of my head from the unevenness of the cut. Perhaps my thick hair is partially to blame, but I've definitely experienced better. Regardless, I paid too much for an unsatisfactory haircut. read more

I have never, in my life, loved my hair cut so much. I have thick wavy hair and its very difficult to work with and get something without chopping off the length. I went to see Tamara and she is absolutely amazing; she spent good amount of time and asked me what I wanted to do and made me feel extremely comfortable. There was no upselling or pushing when I asked her about hair color and straightening treatment. I found my new hair stylist and I'm absolutely going back. I was really impressed on the precautions Mirage Hair Salon took to make sure everyone is safe and can maintain social distancing. They have you contact your stylist to let them know you arrive and then they take your temperature. There are barriers between the sinks and all of their stations. All the stations are nicely spaced out. Then of course I loved my haircut! Laura knew exactly what I was trying to describe to her. She asked lots of questions to make sure we were all on the same page. read more

Tamara is fantastic! I have naturally curly and wavy hair and she is wonderful with her dry cutting technique. She takes the time to listen to her clients and works with you to make sure you are pleased with your style. She also pays attention to how much effort you want to put into your hair every day and recommends high quality products so you can achieve the same style at home without investing a fortune in products. My hair looked great and did not go into "shock" after my cut as it normally does. She's also easy to talk to, which makes visiting the salon a nice treat.
