Was parked and waiting for service when a huge sand truck backed into my passenger side door and dented it. The driver must have been a buddy of Antoine's because Antoine flew out of his office screaming and yelling at me like a depraved animal. Even if the other driver hadn't been entirely at fault, this is a monstrous way to treat a faithful customer and a shaken-up victim. Take your business to someone more deserving. read more

Have gone to these guys for a while. A year ago they did a good chunk of work on my Jetta but couldn't find the problem (where my car was randomly turning off) they eventually said they couldn't figure it out that it probably needed dealer equipment but they didn't charge me a dime. Took two visits to the dealer to get it solved both of which the dealer charged me for. Other day went in for brakes - they initially said 1pm (I brought it in at 8:20). I said I really needed it earlier and they said 10:30 - I end up getting it at 9:38! I also told them I knew I needed brakes based on a previous trip to the dealer but they still checked before they did them to make sure dealer wasn't just trying to get my cash. Attendants at the gas station part are always super nice too. read more

Brought vehicle in for a simple swap from my all season wheels/tires to a winter set of wheels/tires (everything already mounted and balanced). Was charged $60 for the job. Thats about 2x what it cost me at other local service stations. When I simply asked about the high price based on the scope of work, the man raised his voice and repeated the price. Never bringing any vehicle to them again... even if its convenient. read more

Dishonest! My experience is similar to the previous posters. I went in to have an oil change and was quoted $80 because they said my car needed synthetic oil. Fine, I was in a rush. Now when I went back to pick up my car the bill became $120 and the guy just flat denied he quoted me a lower price before. Total rip off! read more

I brought my car to Antoine's for a simple oil change, because my regular mechanic was booked and I need an oil change before a long drive. They performed additional services without asking/telling me, and that I did not authorize, and then presented me with a large bill. The mechanic said that usually when they are going to do extra work, the owner always calls people to confirm, but they did not call me. The owner said he didn't feel like he needed to, it was his call (except it was my car and my money). He then talked to me like I was a four year old, or had never driven/owned a car. They are every reason people don't like bringing their cars in for service- manipulative, dishonest, adding on additional items without telling you, and make you distrust anytime a mechanic tells you something needs to be fixed. I have been very happy with the service--not only because of the reliable repair work, but also because the people who work there are consistently friendly and supportive. Antoine himself is very kind and generous with his time. He has handle large and small repair jobs for me, and has even helped me with a number of last minute emergencies over the years. He has always willing to fit me in if I need something done quickly. I has learned trust him, and I would never take my car anywhere else. Over the many years I've been taking my cars to Antoine's Auto Repair, I've learned that I can trust Antoine and his staff to do excellent work for a fair price. I can't recommend Antoine's enough. Frustrated with the mechanic I was using for years in Medford (always he found something else that "needed fixing..."), I came here upon the recommendation of a co-worker and I'm glad I did. He was able to fix the problem I was having with the fuel intake in half a day and his price was very reasonable. Better yet, he did not try to hustle me for any "needed additional repairs." The employess are HORRIBLE. My car leaks if filled up all the way, so I ask for a specific dollar amount of gas instead so this doesn't happen. They don't listen and fill up the tank anyways. Today the employee was leaning right against my car but ignoring me asking him to stop pumping the gas until I got out of the car so he couldn't ignore me. He then sat there confused and just repeated what I said "Stop putting gas in????" so by the time I got him to stop, my tank was way overfilled. So, now the gas I paid for (yes, have to pay for all of it even though I didn't ask for it) is just leaking out on the ground. Also tried to argue with my that I said to fill the tank... no, I asked for 30 of regular. Seriously this "full service" place is a hassle every time, just go somewhere else. They got extra money from me for the last time today, not that they'll care. read more

While in Boston to pick my son up from college, I had a brake line fail. I checked Google for repair shops in the area and this one came up.After driving 2 miles without brakes I arrived at this service station..they were about to close so I asked the owner if he could do the repair the next day.After trying to get a taxi for me to take me to my hotel and finding none available the owner drive me 7 miles to my hotel. The next morning he said he was waiting for the line from the dealer. By 1 pm the work was completed and the cost for the work was more than reasonable. It's hard to find an honest and reasonably priced mechanic these days but this shop is one of them. read more

After reading some positive reviews here, I sent my car to Antoine's auto shop after I heard a squealing noise. They said it was a brake issue and replaced the old brake with a new one, but they forgot to put the bolts back onto the brake caliper. After I picked up my car, I could tell something was loose in the wheel. But I didn't know it was because of the missing bolts. The next morning I drove about 60 miles on highway. In the afternoon, my car finally made loud scary grinding noise. Luckily I was in Bedford, found an auto shop nearby and had the bolts fixed. When I confronted Antoine that his mechanic forgot the bolts, he insisted they put back the bolts. Assuming they put back the bolts, the bolts falling off so quickly is horrible. It could get me killed on highway, or I could be stuck in the middle of no where and have my car towed. Antoine defended the crappy job they did on my car like it was nothing. He said that it happened that the bolts fell off. He also said the missing bolts in a brake wouldn't kill me. He doesn't think that a customer's safety is important, no wonder he hired such a careless and irresponsible mechanic. I will never go back to Antonie's auto shop. If you don't want to get killed by a careless crappy job done by Antonie's mechanic, you better get away from his auto shop as far as possible read more

They are very helpful when the tires have nails on them and it needs patching which they can do in less than an hour for $20-25. Sometimes the damage is too much, the tires need replacing but they don't push their product/services. Once, the muffler in my 12- year old car broke and the whole thing needs a replacement. Their quote for the actual muffler is comparable to the dealership but cheaper labor, but they also saved me a lot because they said that it can be fixed if I can find a garage that can weld it (which they couldn't do) and it will last me for another year. My husband found one, maybe Meineke? that was able to weld it, saved us $800 plus for an old car. read more

Went in för a simple oil change today because the location is convenient. I had filled up with gas a few days prior and inquired about how much an oil change would cost for my Honda CRV. The gas attendant went in and asked either the owner or one of his mechanics, and I was told it would be $40. This is similar to what I pay at the Honda dealer on a regular basis but much more convenient, so I decided to go ahead when I had some time. When I went to pay today, I was told the bill was $80. Quite surprised that the price had DOUBLED from what I was told, I politely but firmly expressed that I was told it would be half of that. The owner said it "was a mistake" and refused to adjust the charge. Even if it was a mistake, it was THEIR mistake, not mine. I have owned three Hondas and this one for four years. I have NEVER had an $80 oil change, no matter what oil type was used. Bad business, dishonest, rip-off. I will not return here for gas or repairs ever. read more
