There is no specific time for lunch, but would recommend you pack a nice lunch box, bring your water bottle, and snacks, because you'll have a long day. You can't take any electronics, other than your cellphone, so be aware of that.

It has large pane glass windows facing south on every floor, with square rainbow glass inlays covering the facade, that let you see the entire miami skyline and over to Key Biscayne. Unlike the other courthouses, Lots of light brightens up the place. Children come and go constantly so there are sweet touches, like sculptures of big and small bears that are sprinkled throughout the lobby and upper floors. The lower roof has a unique grass insulation layer, common in Europe, but not so big in the US yet. Props to the planners for being environmentally friendly and economically conscious. The best part of this building is that it is right across the street from the metrorail and people mover. Easy access to great restaurants around downtown. If you have to go and sit in court for hours on end, then having access to a nice lunch after is a good reward.

First the county said it was too early yo pay penalizing me for a returned check , then a check was sent fed ex on November 23 and as of December it was mot posted although a county rep signed to receive check on Nov 24. The analyst at the County said "check didn't get posted Until Dec 7 so i lost my $80+ discount! This was an unfair and unjust way to treat a loyal long term taxpayer!

The Coral Gables City Hall is a historic building started in 1927 and finished in 1928. It was one…read moreof the last projects initiated by George Merrick, the founder of Coral Gables. It was designed in a Mediterranean Style by Denman Fink who was the uncle of George Merrick. Denman was not a licensed architect so architects Phineas Paist and Harold Stewart also served on the project. The three story building is constructed of coral rock. Features of the building include a stucco exterior, tile roof, 12 Corinthian columns, and clock tower. Inside the tower is a mural painted by Denman Fink representing the four seasons. Beneath the stone balustrade is the seal of the city of Coral Gables. In front of the building is a statue of George Merrick who stands looking out at his city beautiful. The building was added to the U. S. National Register of Historic Places on July 24, 1974. It is still used today as a city hall today and houses the offices of the mayor and city commissioners.

During the 1920's, it was home to D.A. Dorsey, one of the first black millionaires in the south. After WWII it became the epicenter of black culture and was known as the Broadway of the South. Many famous entertainers stayed here when performing in Miami like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Nat King Cole. In the 1950's the area suffered an economic decline and in the 1960's many residents were displaced by the construction of I-95. Almost 40 percent of the people live in poverty but the area has some exciting things happening like Marcus Samuelson opening the second location of his hugely successful Harlem restaurant, Red Rooster. St. Agnes Episcopal Church is a historic church in Overtown. It is one of Miami's oldest and largest churches. St. Agnes was organized in 1898 when Reverend James O. S. Huntington, a visiting Episcopalian Father Superior, learned that the Anglican Bahamians who had come to the Biscayne Bay area to work had no place to worship. The first service was held in a home near Flagler Street. In 1901, the Bahamian worshippers built the first St. Agnes' church building on a large corner lot donated by Henry Flagler at NW 3rd Avenue and NW 8th Street. St. Agnes' was chosen as the name because the majority of them had been members of the Saint Agnes Parish in New Providence on Blue Hill Road. Eventually the congregation grew so large that they outgrew the building. In the 1940s, St. Agnes was the third largest African-American Episcopal congregation in the nation. In 1929 Reverend John E. Culmer joined the church and worked to complete the building of the St Agnes Church building that exists today. A foundation was laid at a larger lot at NW 3rd Avenue and NW 18th Street. The building was designed by Harold Hastings Mundy, a prominent Miami architect in the early part of the twentieth century. He was known for the Spanish Colonial influence in his buildings. He also designed e Miami-Edison Senior High School and the Coconut Grove Public School. The outside of the building has elements of Gothic Revival and Mission. The roof was rounded instead of gabled in order to better protect it from storms. After becoming distraught over the tuberculosis deaths of several of his young parishioners, Rev. Culmer began a mission to improve conditions in Overtown. He brought the issue to the Greater Miami Negro Civic League and volunteered to serve as chairman of the league's fact-finding committee. By the early 1930s he had won the support of the editor of the Miami Herald, who published a series of columns on the unhealthy conditions in the community. St. Agnes' Episcopal Church was designated a historical site in 2003. You can still worship at St Agnes today.
