I mean really dude..: there is better restaurant in the same complex in your back yard call GURU PALACE has better flavor, pricing and portions, maybe in Rajnikant world it's ok to have 3 times the rice compare to main portion but normal Indians eat main course as MAIN Course not Rice as main course. Went here for a lunch buffet and enjoyed the food. They have a lot of vegetarian options. Everyone's favorite was the manchurian gobi, which had an amazing flavor and texture. I also liked the mango kulfi for dessert - it was very mangoey and fresh tasting. The galub jamun were also a hit. There was also a dish, which I don't remember the name of, that was like...yellow noodles? That was really good. I wasn't a big fan of the paneer, which tasted undercooked and thin and watery. The food was amazing! I ordered goat biryani, and others ordered chicken tikka masala and another chicken dish. We also got naan and samosas. They were all good portions of food for the price. All the food was good, the only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was the wait time to get our check. Granted it was crowded and a Friday evening, but it was still a 20+ minute wait after we finished eating and packing up our food. If they hired one more waiter the place would probably run much smoother. But like I said, the food almost made up for the service altogether. read more

i very recently catered from Mirchi and everyone i spoke to at the event raved about the food, appetizers and dessert. Many guests came up to me to compliment about the food as well. i personally enjoyed it as well. i got what i had tasted and enjoyed. Paneer dish was swimming with paneer, a sight I usually so not see for catered paneer dishes where i am hunting for pieces of paneer. bhindi was not from frozen bhindi and was cooked well. dal was excellent, not too creamy, it was spicy but complemented other dishes well since they were requested to not be too spicy to allow for all guests tastes. I had guests asking for more (if any left) to take home at the end of event. staff was courteous, kept food trays filled. served the appetizers as per my request. i couldnt be happier with my choice. read more

I selected this place based on the reviews. I was served 2 old, dry chicken pieces covered in jasmine rice for $15. At least it was spicy, but I was quite disappointed that the rice obviously was not cooked with the chicken and the dry, old texture of the meat. This is our "go to" neighborhood place for Indian food. The samosas are a great appetizer with great texture and a nice kick of spiciness. And, I am partial to the fish and shrimp tikka dishes, and my wife loves the curry garlic fried rice. The food is always good (great spices), and the staff members are very friendly. One of the best Indian food I ever are in NJ. Yes including Islen and Franklin Park area. Today they had 40+ items. I loved the paya , goat biryani, goat curry and goat sukha. Man the food was off the chart. When I came in the owners were standing outside. I didn't know who they were so I thought they were the customers I asked about the food lol. I wasn't thrilled with my dining experience at Mirchi unfortunately. We asked the server to guide us and recommend an appetizer and he seemed clueless. We ended up ordering the veggie sampler which mostly consisted of battered jalapenos and only had one samosa on it, plus some fried vegetable that was very crunchy and tasteless. We asked him if it was enough for 3 people and he said it was plenty but in truth, it was not enough for 3 people unless all they wanted to eat was extremely spicy jalapenos. The lighting in this restaurant is really bad. It's like having dinner at a supermarket. They need to make it less bright and a lot softer. My other complaint was the water. It was warm and didn't taste right. None of us was able to drink it. That being said, the butter chicken, the chicken tikka masala and biryiani we ordered was delicious. The chicken was tender and all the dishes were flavorful. If they changed some things and made sure their waiters knew the menu well, this place could be great. read more

It was a solid Indian restaurant and I have eaten at a few bad ones recently so this says a lot. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. Portions were enormous so the value was exceptional. The menu was a bit confused though. They had some north Indian fare, some Chettinad and some dosa/idly dishes too. A bit on the spicy side. The only downside is that they had a waitress who did not know the menu at all, did not like spicy food and had no idea what the dishes were. This is not good if you're an Indian food novice. I came here two Sundays and both times were crowded. This review is based on second visits. The first walk in impression was good. The restaurant is divided to two dining rooms. I was seated on the left room where you can see many buffet chafers or food warmers display on the long tables on the side. The whole restaurants were packed with all Indians. Everyone was looking at me when I was following the hostess and approaching to my assigned table where close to the end of the dining room. I suppose the reason I look alien as I'm not the same ethnicity as them. I was like the food must be authentic good since they have so many Indian supporters. Sure enough, the Indian buffet was good. There are many varieties of choices such as curry, rice, fish, lamb and naan. And there was a staff kept refilling the food when it's almost finished especially the king fish. I paid attention to that as I'm a big fan of fish. The staff refilled the king fish at least twice when I was having my meals. I love the karela or Indian bitter melon. The taste is special and yummy. The service is good and staffs are attentive. I'm just a little disappointed about they don't offer mango lassi in the buffet package. They only offer tea and soda in the individual buffet package. I gotta special order the mango lassi since I crave for this drink whenever I dine in at Indian cuisine. My sister and I took my mom here for Mother's Day today and I must say the experience was amazing. There were so many food items (all incredible- north and South Indian as well as Hakka noodles), seafood curries, and bbq meats. At least ten different desserts, beverages, and ice gola to top it off. Service was just great as Vikram corrected my bill for added gratuity I accidentally added on my Amex. I had been to Mirchi on 24th Dec night and ordered 3 items for take out. The bill was around $37. The guy at the counter told me that it would take 25 minutes for the food to be ready. But he showed up in 5-7 minutes with the food. In the mean while another guy (looked like the manager) showed up. I asked him whether the curry comes with rice or not. He said yes. But when i got the packet, it didn't have rice. Plus the quantity was so less even one guy could have finished all the 3 dishes. Today is unbelievable, and seriously,... the job is being taken ALL EASY and UNIMPORTANT. Customers are treated as if they do not have another Indian alternative in the area. Stupid is the recipe today, that the Vegetable Biryani has the deep black fried masala filled with clove powder, for a medium spicy order. Interest was shown in the beginning of the business, but as the inflow of customers started things are being considered with attitutude, THE ATTITUDE that would slowly destroy the name and later the place. Extremely bad experience. We made our booking for 9:30. The restaurant people did not tell us that they are serving VERY limited entrees on the menu. On top of it, the restaurant manager was very agressive and rude to us. During our 30 minutes wait time for our order to go, we were told at least ten times if not more that restaurant is closed and food can't be served. We ordered whatever they were offering. Food was very costly as compared to other indian restaurants and taste was average. The ladies there were still polite but the manager needs to learn customer service 101. We took our friends and was very embarrassed and disappointed with the service provided. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant. I would drive 2/3 miles extra and try other indian restaurants in the area. read more

Bad food and deceptive menu card....that is what describes this restaurant. They have a dish called "Mirch special chicken biryani". We ordered this dish and it is basically chicken lolipop in rice, no masala and the chicken never mixed well with the rice. When we spoke to the Manager, he initially denied that it was chicken lolipop in the rice and then finally agreed it was. The correct name for the dish should be "Fried chicken on rice". Very average in taste and also poor service. Overall a thumbs down. Not worth visiting and wasting your money as I unfortunately learnt. Cheers read more
