Restaurant was crowded.. service was worst . No one would even come to table and take order .. had to call them twice or thrice to get someone take order ... and after order - IT TOOK 45 mins for a dosa to be served ... 45 mins for a dosa ??? Ufff. After 45 mins I was eagerly waiting to taste the dosa , and it was such a disappointment!!!!!! Dosa was very ordinary.. Sambar had less salt and didn't taste south indianish.. please don't think this is South Indian restaurant . It is not ! Onion rava was another disappointment ! Visited this amazing spot close to home, thanks to my brother's recommendation for their Wednesday Dosa buffet! The buffet runs from 5:45 PM to 9:30 PM, and we arrived around 8:30. We kicked off with idly, wada, and a variety of chutneys and sambhar. Then came naan with paneer butter masala, uthapam, and samosas, which were all fantastic. They also offered two types of rice, rasam, chaat, and desserts like mango lassi, gulab jamun, and ice cream. For dosa, you place an order separately--we tried the butter Mysore masala dosa, paneer masala dosa, and Madurai masala dosa, all of which were delicious. The buffet is priced at around $22 per person, and it's totally worth it. While the variety of items isn't vast, the quality more than makes up for it. The dining space was comfortable, and the service was very professional. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy some great vegetarian food, especially vegetarians! On Monday, Oct-28, We straight away came from Newark airport to get some food and reached the restaurant at 9:20PM. They closed the restaurant at 9:20 unannounced, even though the Signboard at the door said "Open". We were starving and the folks at the restaurant were not even apologetic. I think 3 Stars is about the right rating. 1. The Uttapam was excellent. It was Onion Hot Chilli Tomato Uttapam. 2. We also had Idli and IdliVada Sambhar combo. 3. The chutneys are good decent I would say. They give tomato chutney and coconut chutney 4. Service is good and they bring the food promptly. 5. The sambhar was the low light and it was one of the worst sambhars I have tasted. It was thick almost like yesterdays left over daal. There was no taste of sambhar and it had no tadka.. I've been here only once and tried only their Wednesday Dosa buffet, but I can already vouch this to be one of the best authentic South Indian vegetarian restaurant and Dosa place in the Garden state. They have a display of awards they have won and that's certainly a testimony to what they offer. We went here just by the reviews and was surprised how a modest looking place can pack a punch with its taste and pleasant customer service. The food was out of the world and tasted just how it would if you are to walk into a South Indian restaurant, back in India. We got here on a Wednesday night to try the dosa buffet and had no disappointments. They charge $19.99 per person for unlimited food, which is nominal. The dosas variety is a lot and the other various foods served in the counters are delicious too. They keep refilling them and don't let you wait. The only pickle point is that they didn't have pickles to side the curd rice (which's a must in South Indian type of eating) ;) We can't wait to try this place on other days and their other delicacies. We came here for dinner and were very happy when we found out that it was going to be a dosa buffet. We got to order dosas off the menu and also got to check out the buffet. The mango lassi was my favorite. I visited that at least 2 times. LOL. One item at the buffet that stood out to me was the mushroom biryani. I've never had this and loved it. Daughter ordered Paneer Mysore Dosa and thought it was nice and hot and delicious. It had paneer and egg in it and these were two of her favorite things to eat in Indian restaurants. She would definitely order this again, no questions asked. Hubs had the Spinach Masala Dosa and said that he missed Indian buffets. He liked his dosa a lot and said that he liked most of the items at the buffet. He , especially liked the naan, mushroom biryani and chaat. I thought the chaat was sweet and didn't care for it. This was our first buffet since the pandemic and we were very happy with this place. Lastly, I had Onion Chili Masala Dosa and this was delicious. I had this elsewhere and it's made differently than when I last had it. I still loved it. It had just the right amount of spicy to us where it wasn't overwhelming. Service was friendly and quick. Been dining on Dosa Grill ever since I was a kid. This is a go to spot when I have family visit and we want dosas. One of my favorite Franklin food spots. FOOD - spot on Dosa place. If you want classic dosas done right this is the place. Period. Also their chai and snacks like papdi chaat and bhel puri are some of the best! SERVICE - always friendly and accommodating. When I've gone to dine there with a big party we always get a nice table that fits everyone. The staff is great with menu questions and timely with food production. Post COVID I've gotten delivery once (through Yelp/Grubhub). HOURS - they close mid day I think 230-530pm. TOGO/DELIVERY - Food was very fresh and hot upon arrival. I ordered 3 dosas, 2 appetizers, and 2 beverages. The Masala and sambar was packed separate from the dosas to keep everything fresh. They included sugar with the chai too which is nice extra touch. I ordered close to their mid day closing time and called to speak to them about my order they not only assured me they would get it done before closing but they called me after the Grubhub driver picked up to let me know food is on the way. Beyond excellent service! I placed a big order too so I'm super impressed and thankful because I couldn't wait 3 hours for it if I had to wait for after they reopened. One thing for improvement is on the delivery packs please write the Dosa type on the box. I ordered Butter Masala and a Masala Dosa but could tell which was which. (See picture). It didn't matter for me I ate them both but it might matter for someone else. We order from here as often as we can. Calling the restaurant directly had been very easy, eliminating the commission-robbing middleman and allowing us to easily ask questions about their menu. The Mysore Dosa is delicious and as hot as you might expect. Seeing stars is more like it, but I love it spicy! Most Indian restaurants use too much oil in their food. We've found them to be more like we are at home and their food is much easier to digest. read more

We were there on Thursday evening for dinner. This was our first visit and the lady had us seated immediately with menus. I ordered a Gunpowder Dosa while my partner ordered Rava Masala Dosa The food took more than an acceptable time to arrive and it was underwhelming. The spicy powder which was expected to coat the inside of my Dosa was stale and had an odd smell. It was nearly $12 and I had to eat it quickly without inhaling the stale smell. My partner had ordered the Rava Masala Dosa but it came like a plain Rava Dosa with masala in a container on the side. THAT is not how a Masala Dosa works! The masala should be inside so that the dosa has the sauces from masala oozing. It felt like the cook had missed the ordered, made a plain Rava Dosa, then was reminded and as a second thought, put the masala in a separate container on the side. While we were tempted to send both back and get a refund, being introverts and conscious about niceties, we paid, tipped and left. read more

We were in this wonderfully diverse neighborhood and grabbed our usual vegan chickpea entrée that came with rice; we also got two pieces of roti and an order of Samosa for $20 total -price quite reasonable. Decent dosa place. Had a fair variety of dosa, but honestly :too classy. To me dosa is a humble breakfast/tiffin/late night food.. Not a four star experience. I'd rather walk into a hole in the wall dosa shop where I fend for myself and have to get my sambar from a community pot in the back than be served on fancy plates in a restaurant with ambiance. But, that's just my humble opinion. Dosa was decent but I prefer a crispier one and the idli here was a bit crumbly instead of soft and fluffy (but I find this in most places in the US). I ordered a gun powder masala dosa. It was decent but I should have asked for them to not put the masala in it. 9 times out of 10,i just want podi dosa,so.thats my faul. I believe my date got a paneer dosa of some sort (don't remember which kind but in my pictures his is the one rolled up, mine is the none rolled dosa.) I also knocked off a star for the coconut chutney... Just not enough flavor. Tasted mostly like coconut and oil. Sambar was decent. And the tomato chutney had a nice kick to it. I really wanted to give this place four stars because they served my tea in a davara which never happens anywhere I go. Made me feel like I was in Chennai again:) so kudos to dosa grill for that! My favorite is the tomato kind! I also love the weekday lunch buffet. For a reasonable price, you have access to unlimited quantities of hot vadas (fritters), sambhar, rasam, flavored rice, and a rotating variety of curries. You can also pick a small order of dosa, cooked to order. I like to get the cheese dosa, stuffed with the perfect amount of melty cheese. If buffets are not your thing, be sure to visit for dinner. There are tons of options for dosas, fluffy idlis, different types of vadas. Literally heaven; the only downfall is the inevitable food coma that follows a meal here. read more
