It is located in a nondescript strip mall but the parking was easy. We needed food to go but we were struggling as we have a granddaughter with severe nut allergies. The owner/manager (?) was kind enough to work with us and was honest that the kitchen was busy and they would not be able to guarantee cross contamination. We recently visited this new restaurant and have to admit, 75% of the tables were occupied when we arrived! We could feel the excitement in the air -- it's clearly popular, and the crowd was a good sign. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. I'm a Chai connoisseur, so definitely had to order that especially when the menu read 'Adrak ki Chai'. Guess what, the chai didn't have any adrak flavor AT ALL!! I immediately let the server know and was told maybe it lacked flavor since it was prepared long back. I appreciate the honesty but seriously? They offered to get me a coffee instead at no additional cost. Next up, Vada-Pav. 10/10 marks for the presentation but lacked flavor. The churi was fridge cold and so was the mirchi. Sev Puri Dahi Puri - This was good. I would give a 7/10. Overall, the quality just didn't match the excitement around the restaurant. The 'chatpati' part was missing. I just moved into the area so I decided to order for pick up using UberEats. Food was ready when we got there and packaged really well to keep warm and spill-free. The food itself was tasty. Portions are decent. We ordered two chicken dishes and only received one small container of rice. What we ordered: - Butter Chicken - Chicken Tikka Masala - Garlic Naan - Mango Smoothie We ordered the Mango Smoothie thinking it was like a Mango Lassi we've had other places but it didn't taste like it so I don't think it was. After reading that this place is one of the best Indian restaurants in NJ, I had wanted to give this place a try. We were immediately seated after arriving and ordered the following: Palak Paneer - this was delicious. It was nice and subtle. This reminds Hubs to have this during Lent. LOL Chicken Keema Roll with Egg- this came with a side of fries and is more of a snack food. As an appetizer, it was all right, but a bit heavy. Fish Amritsari- we were looking for fish and found it on the specials board. It looks like fish fritters and was a little disappointing. Poori (4 pcs)- I didn't expect poori to look like this. I was expecting a big giant ball but got 4 tiny ones instead. It was hot, crispy and fresh. Hubs liked it but he liked the onion kulcha more. I didn't really care for it. Mirchi Cheese Naan- we kept wanting to try this because so many people like it but hubs doesn't understand why. He didn't care for it. Onion Kulcha- this was delicious . It was nice, soft and warm. Goat Curry- Hubs loved it a lot. Daughter and I liked it, too. Goat and lamb aren't my favorite but this was delicious! It was not gamey at all. Hubs said that he doesn't understand why people prefer beef over goat and lamb. The goat was falling off the bone and it was one of the better curries he's ever had. He even dipped the fish amritsari into the curry. LOL Aam Ki Lassi- there were chipped marks on the cup. I don't remember anything about this. It was probably not memorable. This place is packed and have huge lines on weekends. We opted to go on a weekday for an early dinner to avoid the wait. We didn't realize that the menu wasn't in English and ended up googling it. Chatpati Delhi in Frankli Park has such a great variety of Indian food and the service is honestly one of the best parts. The staff are super friendly and attentive but still give you space to enjoy your meal, and they even took the time to explain the dishes since it was our first visit. We tried their popular drinks, Jal Jeera Soda and Aam Ka Panna. The soda was a little too sweet and heavy for us, and the panna was okay, but it was fun to try something new. The Golgappe appetizer was amazing, crispy, flavorful, and really fun to eat. For mains, we got Bedmi Aloo Puri with chickpeas curry, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Onion Kulcha, and rice. The puris were huge and perfect with the curry, the Butter Chicken was rich and not too salty, and the Tikka Masala was tasty but not quite spicy enough for us. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and overall it felt worth the price. The ambiance is nice and clean, the dining tables are spotless, and they also have a big parking lot to accommodate their customers. We went on Sunday afternoon, had to wait for 15-20 mins to get seated. Parking can be tight here but you can park in adjacent parking lot. We had buttermilk, masala chai, cold coffee for drinks, paneer sizzler, roomali roti and veg kheema, dahi-bhalle, sev puri dahi puri, bedmi puri to eat and falooda, malpua-rabdri for desserts . We have passed the place a number of times and were tempted by the New York Times reviews . I would have to say we were disappointed . Maybe we just chose the wrong dishes . Tandoori starter was OK . Crushed samosa with chick peas was very good . However the next dish , goat biryani was horrible . We had asked for a curry which it wasn't and served in a very strange dish which we were finally told to turn upside down. Basically a poorly flavored rice dish , some goat and many many goat bones . Please do not go to Chatpati Delhi. I honestly do not understand the hype around this place. Please save your money, save your taste buds, and skip this restaurant completely. We visited today as a party of four, and the experience was terrible right from the moment we walked in. The space is extremely small, yet we were seated at a dirty, uncomfortable corner table even though several better tables were clearly available. That already set the tone. Service was shockingly poor. We ordered a kids' meal that included mango lassi, but only burgers and fries were brought out. The mango lassi was not served until we specifically asked for it. Nothing was proactive--everything had to be demanded. The staff was completely inattentive. Not once during the meal did anyone come to check on us or ask if we wanted to order anything else. Every time we wanted to add something, we had to sit there for minutes, constantly trying to make eye contact with the server, who would simply look away. This was some of the worst service I have experienced at a restaurant. Now coming to the food--absolutely horrible. Zero flavor. On the name of "Delhi food," all you get is some artificial incense-like fragrance in the air. The food quality and taste are nowhere close to real Delhi-level food. The mango shake was horrible in taste--completely artificial and unpleasant. The paneer sizzler was extremely bland and tasteless, and honestly tasted like it was made from spoiled or expired paneer. It had that foul, sour flavor that immediately makes you feel something is not right or safe to eat. It genuinely felt like the paneer had gone bad. The breads in the main course were equally awful--half-cooked, doughy, and raw from inside, as if uncooked dough was served on the plate. Overall, everything tasted bad. There was not a single item we enjoyed. Terrible food, terrible service, zero attention to customers. You go out to eat expecting at least decent food, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my life. People seem to be flocking to this place lately, but I genuinely want to warn others: save yourself, save your palate, and do not waste your time or money here. Fantastic Service and Fantastic Food! Aisi service agar har jageh ho toh maza aajaye! I came here several times with my family to try different things but we really love the Chole Bature! I also liked the paneer sizzler but the server/owner was super friendly nice to accommodate my rest and made sure the food was too my liking! The meat was so flavorful without being overly oily (I have a sensitive stomach to oil sometimes) and portions were big enough to have two meals from it.
