Very poor customer service. I had a not so pleasant experience. The owner reached out to tell me she did not like my previous comment. She offered me to return free of charge. Found this wonderful Day Spa while staying next door at The Sands Hotel. All the great services of an upscale Spa without the crazy Hotel/Spa Prices. I created my own Spa Day of Beauty: Started with 30 minute back massage (ahhhh), and went right into the Signature Facial, both with Daniel. He was excellent, and my face still looking glowy and clear one week later! He is not pushy with products, which I appreciated. Next, was my manicure and pedicure with Krista. She shaped my nails so nicely and my manicure looks almost perfect 1 week out! (Regular mani, mind you, not even gel, so that is great!) The owner, Mirela stopped by to chat during my manicure and she was lovely. The whole staff made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. I can't wait to go back next time I visit the Desert. Apparently they just moved into this spacious location in October. It is clean, serene, and plenty of parking, even though I just walked over from next door. I brought my Hotel bathrobe and changed into it after my facial, for my mani/pedi to make it feel like a real Spa Day. They were cool about it. I recommend doing that if you also happen to be staying next door. All 4 services totaled less than $200 due to a special they were running on massage/facial combo. OK, I'm used to getting facials in San Francisco, where people my age (youthfully middle aged) take looking good seriously. Facials in the city can be top-rate. I figured down here in the desert, they'd know how to deal with old sun-dried skin, but young-ish, still acne-prone skin like mine? YES!!! Tami at Mirela is a godsend. To be a good aesthetician, you need a bunch of talents that don't necessarily overlap. Tami has them all. First, and most importantly, she's extremely skilled. I've seen her 4 times now and my skin has never looked better. She's used a couple different products, all of which tackled whatever problem I was having. Her extractions are so gentle you can't believe they're effective, but they are. Second, you also need a soothing touch. If you're abrupt, or rough, it makes getting a facial a chore for the client. Tami has this ability to always ease into touching you, so you're never surprised, whether she's massaging your neck, or smoothing stuff on your face. I routinely doze off. Third, you need to be personable & take your cues from your client. If you're looking forward to a quiet spa-like treatment, having a gabby aesthetician ruins it. If you're trying to be personable & break the ice, having a strong silent type makes you feel uncomfortable. Tami has a soft voice, gentle laugh, great sense of humor, and the ability to work in silence when you (like me) are getting ready to doze off! Fourth, and finally, you need a clinic with solid products to back you up. The Mirela products are really wonderful. Tami's always generous with take-home samples, and not just random stuff but usually the products she just used on you that she feels would benefit you. I love the skin care products I've been using for years but, though the Mirela line is a little more expensive, I'll be switching over to it. I've talked here about Tami's facials, but I know the clinic does all the regular salon-type stuff (waxing, plucking, whatever) and has both male & female clients (I'm female.) Get over there & get gorgeous!! read more

I am sorry that I have to review the salon and not the hairdresser, Kevin Paynther. Unfortunately, that's where he works and it's the only way I can post this. Kevin did my hair a few times and his work was very nice. I made an appointment for this morning at 9 a.m. the last time I was there a few weeks ago. I texted him yesterday to confirm the appointment and he texted back confirming it. When I arrived this morning, I was greeted with "what are you doing here?" He finally said he made a mistake and had my appointment in his book for tomorrow at 9 a.m. I explained that I couldn't come tomorrow due to a Dr.'s appointment. He also said he responded without looking at the text. Then he became rather nasty and refused to try to accommodate me. He had another customer sitting there while he was having this "meltdown." He then never apologized, just turned on his heel and left me sitting there, AFTER STANDING ME UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT. It's one thing for him to make a mistake re: the appointment, but his behavior was a disgrace. I have to blame the salon owner, because she obviously allows this, even though he is an independent contractor. While he is a good hairdresser, his actions are horrid and I will never go to this salon again. read more

A girlfriend and I chose this place for a pedicure while on a Palm Desert weekend away. We both were desperate for a pedicure! It was a busy place, but we did get appointments easily. The pedicure was fine, but it's so busy in there that you definitely feel the "speed" of trying to churn people in and out. I have no complaints about the service, but if you want somewhere you can relax a little and expect a more luxurious foot/calf massage, this may not be your first choice. HUGE thanks to Cate for recommending the TCA peel series to help with my cystic acne and doing mini facials and micro monthly after the series was finished. I am beyond thrilled with the results!!
