I have visited Desert Zen several times for massages, facials, and tanning in the past. Each time has been fabulous, and today was no different! I had a massage scheduled with Robin, my first time seeing her. She listened to my concerns and then explained what would work best for my situation. She recommended some stretches, and incorporated them into my massage. The massage was absolutely amazing, I never realized how badly I needed to stretch until Robin started moving my leg. If you want to feel good and also leave feeling relaxed, I'd highly recommend a visit with Robin! I just wish that I would've had more time and booked 90 minutes, next time I won't make that mistake! My husband got us a couples package with massage, facial, and foot treatment. I was very impressed with it. Both Olivia and Hazel were expert practitioners, but a special thanks goes to Hazel. She asked where I needed massage most and it was my hips. She spent Lots of extra time really getting into that area, and doing deep fascia work. The results were amazing. Wow. Just had the most amazing massage from Hazel. You truly don't understand, I feel pain free for the first time in years. I have super tight back muscles and spinal issues and she really took the time to ask ahead of time what I needed and actually focused on them. I've been to top spas in Palm Springs TWICE and left unhappy to the point I had to say something. Today I read every single review on Yelp (yes, over 100!) and tallied the top names. When I called Hazel was the only one available and was not on my list but I needed to be seen so I took a chance. She is a hidden gem and so good I almost don't want to review her! Shes not uncomfortably chatty where you can't relax, very good vibes, friendly, doesn't break skin contact unless necessary and the prices are very fair. I also liked that the table doesn't have that notch in the throat the chokes you and it's got a warmer should you choose for it. It was honestly so good I was mentally planning my next appt during the massage LOL. I'm calling dibs on this fabulous friendly professional. She strong but not crazy trying to make a point. She checks in on how you feel and I was able to tell her go deep and if it's too hard I'll be honest. We really found an immediate rhythm. I truly hope she never leaves! Thank you Hazel! I scheduled for next weekend and it's worth the cost. As an aside Cassie was working the desk and she's just as sweet. She does facials, lashes and waxing and has great reviews. I booked a Zen Facial, which according to the website description is meant to be 80 minutes long and includes a "cleanse and mask on the face and décolleté, scalp treatment, arms, hands, neck and shoulders massage." The woman who did my facial was incredibly sweet and did a lovely job. But my facial was only 60 minutes and did not include a scalp treatment or arms/hands massage. It's hard to keep track of time when I'm relaxing and I didn't realize how short it was until I'd already paid. I am lucky enough to have amazing skin on my face. I don't get breakouts. I do get facials fairly often as I believe they help me maintain my skin. I had a terrible reaction on my face and neck from this facial. I broke out like I've never broken out before in my life. I can't fault the esthetician but perhaps the products they use at this spa aren't right for my skin. This experience made me realize just how devastating facial acne can be. I'm beyond thankful for my clear skin and plan to better research products each spa uses before I book a facial. read more

Robin wasted no time figuring out I needed more than a massage, what I needed was some resistance stretching thrown in. 20 mins in and my lower back felt pain free like it hasn't for a week. While the massage was good and the therapist was nice, she asked about areas needing special attention, she talked a little too long. In the beginning, I did participate just to talk about what I wanted and to get to know the therapist a little. After a while, I quieted way down to let her know I was ready to just relax. After the massage, I had a facial. The esthetician Eliot was great. She made it a point to ask about skin sensitivities, and let me know that for a few minutes she would talk to me about these things but then likes to stop talking since she is aware that the customer is there to just enjoy the quiet, the facial and relax. This is feedback for DEsert Zen Day Spa and a review. I booked a deep tissue massage on 11/19 with Eric for $135. Eric asked me what I wanted and I said a deep tissue. He said he can usually tell what pressure is right. I said I'll let you know if it's too much. Half the massage was over and it was a typical Swedish light-touch massage. Very disappointing. He asked how it was when I turned over and I said I could definitely tolerate more pressure. He did do a better deep tissue but it was sort of too late. No scalp massage, no hand massage, no facial massage. The room was cold and the sheet was thin. The best part was the icy cold cucumber water at the end. I took a chance on this place as I'm a local. There are much better little massage places for much less money in Palm Desert. read more

Today I enjoyed my first ever back facial. Alexandra was the esthetician assigned to me. She did a fabulous job and is very aware of the new protocols needed to perform her job yet delivering a relaxing spa treatment. The back facial is 45 minutes of cleansing, scrub, a body polish, extractions (which I did not need) a lovely back massage, a mask then a light moisturizer to finish the treatment. I was a noodle after she was finished. I recommend highly if you have or have not had a back facial. Ask for Alexandra, you won't be disappointed. Also, I asked for a face cradle verses not having one... this was easier for my neck since I was on my stomach for 45 minutes. But if you sleep on your stomach you may not need a face cradle. read more

Came here to get a facial which included a peel. The woman who did my facial left the room while my peel was working. Toward the end, it started to burn but she still wasn't back. And when she finally appeared, I told her it stung. She said it was normal. Well, it's been months now, and the peel left a permanent burn scar on my face, below my eye. I am forever reminded of this spa's negligence every time I look in the mirror now. The woman should NOT have left the room while an active chemical peel was working. read more
