Long before the big flashy…read morenon profits that bring in the big bucks to help locally, regionally and even nationally.....Lynchburg Daily Bread was on the front lines on the war against poverty and food insecurity. I have volunteered here for 5-7 meall services over the course of 11 years(not nearly enough) and every time I do, I am kind of left speechless by the amazing mission they are leading daily and how they are doing so with the quality and professionalism that is frankly, so strong that no 5 star rating could ever do it justice. For me to witnessing this impact first hand and seeing how they turn limited resources into a high quality, life altering, survival operation is invigorating. There are SO many non profits in Lynchburg, some would say to many but for me this is the model and this is the gold standard for which all others should follow. From their amazing Executive Director to their daily volunteers, all it takes is one trip over to their location on Clay Street location and you too, will realize it is the best of the best. For me, a deep breath is needed because if you are unfamiliar with this mission and environment, it can be jarring. For me stepping outside of my comfort zone is why I will, God willing, one day be able to provide them with a large contribution. I just want to thank all the staff and volunteers as you all are real life heroes. The number of lives you impact is astounding and something you all should be deeply proud of. Folks if you are a rational human being and believe that everyone in this great country should have access to the essentials, namely food and water then open up your checkbook and make a donation. If you are more of the, I don't have alot of money, but I do have 500 Facebook friends, host your own food drive....they will even provide you with a list of needed items AND if you arrange it ahead of time, they will bring a company truck to pick up the food you collected. No excuses, times are tough, lets help them today, tomorrow and as long as you can.

Her caregivers were very competent and so kind, and adapted seamlessly to her brief admission to the hospital, return to home, admission to home hospice and end of life care, and continued to care for her until she died peacefully at home. Our mom was bed bound for the last several weeks of her life, and her caregivers kept her clean and comfortable and her skin intact. They communicated appropriately with hospice and with us, the family. The office - both Jeremy the RN contact, as well as the after hours staff, were so easy to work with. All around, our family was so glad to have had TheKey as the caregiving agency for our mom in her last several weeks of her life.

What sets her apart is the access and responsiveness. Being able to text with a question, get quick guidance, or secure an appointment without delay is invaluable--especially because we travel frequently. No matter where we are, she responds promptly, thoughtfully, and with a level of attentiveness that immediately puts you at ease. Most recently, I started coming down with the flu, and she was incredible. Even while boarding a plane, she stopped everything to ensure I got the right care quickly and that I was supported step-by-step. She also proactively made sure my husband had what he needed preventatively, because he was headed into an important board meeting and couldn't risk getting sick. The fact that she handled all of this while in the middle of leaving for a trip speaks volumes. Her service is truly above and beyond--thorough, compassionate, and unwaveringly dependable. She was treated rudely and overheard staff talking about her treatment after the session. She has been upset since. The owner has been messaging me on Yelp and I view this as bullying. It is also interesting that the negative (1 star reviews) she has are in the "do not recommend section" after having been posted. Business owners should not be rewarded for knowing how to game the system on yelp or other review engines. Will check back to see if this one gets removed or deleted.

I tried to get an appointment for my girlfriend and I, however every time I called (usually around…read more2-3), nobody would pick up the phone. I then entered my contact information through my website, and I finally got an email back after I had long forgotten about ever contacting this place. The woman who emailed me asked for our insurance information, and told me it would take about one business week to process it. One week passed. Two weeks passed. I hadn't heard anything, so I emailed the woman who I had spoken to asking about the status of our insurance. No response. I waited about three more weeks and asked again. Once again no response. For people who are reaching out for mental healthcare, especially for the first time, it is usually an uncomfortable experience. Having offices, which are supposed to help you, leave you with no response only increases the frustration of seeking mental healthcare. I find this behavior to be extremely unprofessional and unbecoming of the name "Christian Counseling Services", Dr. Jerry Falwell once said, "If it's Christian, it ought to be better." In short, don't waste your time.
