I love Tina M.! She has been with me through fixing my hair done in Mexico, to Brunette, to blonde! She has a helpful eye and will talk through things you may not have thought of when you walked in. She is also SUPER down to earth and HILARIOUS! She was also the last person to do my moms hair before she passed. My mom felt beautiful and empowered and a fun/ silly side of her surfaced that I love love love. Tina is awful. I had been getting my hair highlighted here for close to a year, but would always lighten it first at home before coming in. (I do this because if I lighten my hair at home it allows the stylist to either not resort to bleach or not resort to using 40 level developer.) Tina was adequate in this capacity. As for her manners- she would go on and on about sordid details from her dating life. Perhaps if I were a bored, married woman I would find these stories fun and entertaining, but I'm not. So I found the stories to be lude, mildly depressing, and just plain gross. How many times a day does she tell these sex stories? Stories aside, finally she convinced me to let her highlight my hair without my first dying it at home. So I come in without about 2- 2.5 inches of new growth. At first, she is really happy about this, and proceeds with doing a partial foil. An hour later, my hair is streaked with copper tones instead of blonde, but she says she will fix it. She puts toner on all over; a half hour later it is now just a more muted copper tone. By this time she has another client. She insists she can fix my hair. She hands me a book of the hair color examples and tells me to pick out the color I want. I want the same color she has been doing on my hair for the past 10 months, but I say nothing and just point to that color in the book. Again she foils my hair, this time blaming me for "waiting too long between appointments". Apparently the 2 inches of growth is a problem and if I only had one inch of growth her skills as a hairdresser would be dramatically increased. Right. An hour later my hair has many golden-orange highlights next to the copper highlights she just did. Again she puts toner all over, but this time puts me under the dryer. Finally it's time for the big reveal- meaning my hair, not more stories of Tina getting boned from men on the internet. Now my entire head is a strange shade of pinkish-platinum blonde. No highlights are going on. I'm naturally dark golden blonde, and I like having light blonde highlights. My hair is also very fine, so with the pinkish-platinum color you could see my scalp easier. So after 4.5 hours, I now have overbleached hair, and really terrific balding sort of look going on. She says to me "it looks great". I say "this is not what I wanted but I've been here more than 4 hours. I have to leave. I'm not happy." Then at home, the following day, I spent 2 hours foiling shades of brown into my hair so that I didn't look like pinky the balding clown. It's now been about 6 months since that happened. I had to stop dying my hair completely after that. What Tina did caused so much damage to my already fine, dry hair that I had no choice but to let my hair grow out to a healthy stage. Now, the bottom 3-5 inches of my hair are the only memories of damage...unless you count the memories of online dating sex stories. Stay away from Mirror Image...unless you just want a simple cut, simple (one step) color, enjoy beauty surprises or hearing about a 50-something year old lady getting the penis. Ew read more

I can't comment on the hair stylers but the nail appointment I had was terrible.. I believe her name was Navhea ... you stick your feet in a plain bucket of water .. you get something rubbed on your feet then a little scrub..a little file to your nails.. and watch closely she cut the skin under two of my toes whilst filing the tops of my nails..a little lotion ..wipes the nails off.. polish a spray of polish dry and your done.. she never went above my ankles.. forget about a foot and leg massage..no hot towels no stone massage.. all that for $40. I could've done this at home minus the cuts and saved the $40. Now I can go to the wedding tomorrow and show off my nails in my beautiful sandals!!! I don't know if it was the joke I made about "how dare she retire!" or the fact that I mentioned my wife; but she became very chilly. Gave no eye contact, didn't double check her work at all, finished an walked away without so much as a Thanks for coming. I was on vacation and needed a color and cut. Since it was a rainy day I figured i would treat myself. I made an appointment through Lisa who was very helpful. I was greeted with a warm welcoming smile from Lisa. Then I met Timothy the black lab. He was such a love and very calming. All hair salons should have a dog. Then my hair stylist greeted me with the sweetest smile. Elyse is a very talented stylist. She listened and she did an amazing job matching my hair color and putting the perfect highlights to enhance my hair color. This salon/spa uses heated towels and capes which was such a treat. They also offer snacks and beverages to all customers. I do have to say the best part of my visit was the scalp and neck massage when my hair was washed while sitting in a recliner not a regular salon chair. I just LOVE this salon! After living on the cape for a few years I finally found the perfect place that reminded me of Boston! Upscale, classy and always a great job done by everyone! For a while I was seeing Jessa who was amazing!! Since she has moved I have only been once but the young girl who did my hair was wonderful as well. My favorite part of the whole experience is the hair washing. They have a separate room that has soft music & dimly light lights. They then offer you a warm or cold press!! I got an updo done by Erica for a wedding I was attending and it came out perfectly. I was visiting the Cape for the wedding and as the girlfriend of the brother of the bride, I wanted my hair a little more special than what I could have done myself. I went into the salon with a picture and a general idea and Erica rolled with it, making any necessary changes to work with my hair. I got it done hours before the wedding and even after a night of dancing, my hair stayed put and still looked great. I got so many compliments on it, including the whole bridal party, who got their hair done by a different stylist that was brought in by the bride. If I ever need anything done again while visiting the Cape, I will definitely go back to Erica and Mirror Image Salon. read more

Let me start by saying I'm completely faithful to my high end salon and spa at home and wasn't expecting much from a little place on the Cape. Boy did I underestimate this place. The shop is adorable. Really clean with little private areas for waiting and for hair washing. The vibe is friendly and the stylists are professional. I booked two services, a single process to cover my 'grey' with Elise and a massage with Mercedes. My hair looks fantastic. I was really nervous about having someone I didn't know do my color but also desperate and unable to look at all the grey in the mirror another minute. I have color resistant hair but she didn't miss a spot and blended everything in seamlessly which was not simple given the streaks of sun kissed blonde all over my head from this amazing summer we are having. On to the massage. I have lots of back issues and frequently get massages but again, pretty faithful to my place back home. I was expecting a light and relaxing Swedish massage but Mercedes has great hands and intuition for tight spots and when to increase pressure so she got right in there where needed. I was surprised someone so young could actually 'work out' some of the tricky spots like my IT bands and the chronic tightness in my left hip and glute. Overall this shop exceeded my expectations, which are probably unreasonably high in the first place. I feel pretty and refreshed and I'm so glad I took a chance on this place. I'm planning to visit again when we return next year. Don't hesitate to book a service here. Well worth it! read more

I went to splurge on my hair cut as I have not gotten my haircut in a long time. The salon interior was nice. I was greeted immediately and directed to the sitting room. The stylist was nice and brought me into the hair washing room quickly. When I got the warm smock draped over me, I knew I was in for a big bill. (I hadn't asked in advance how much the wash, cut and dry would cost! I didn't want to know). The stylist was nice and just enough talk but not too much. I was there for about 40 minutes total and paid $60. That was the most I have ever paid for a hair cut ($55 was the previous max.) The thing was that I don't believe that the hair cut is especially better than a $14 hair cut I've had a Great Clips! I will not be back. (I'll take a cold smock in the future) read more

This is by far the best salon I've ever been to. I have for years been in search for a good hair stylist and salon and let me tell you...this is it! Let me share my experience...I looked around online for best rated hair salons on cape and decided to try mirror image because they seemed to have some good reviews. I called to book an appointment and the very nice women on the phone (Lisa I think?) Answered and was very nice. I told her I was looking for a cut and color. She asked who I would like to see and I told her my needs and to book me with who she felt would be really good. She was able to book the exact time and day I needed (which was two days after I called which was awesome because I am not the most patient person in the world) and I awaited my appointment. I went in and was greeted in their very nicely decorated salon, immediately... BY NAME (they had never met me before), which I found very polite and endearing. They offered up there coat closet and a hot beverage in their waiting room and in all of three min my stylist Erica was there. Already I was extremely impressed with their customer service and zero wait time but now was the moment to find out if it was worth it. Erica took me to the processing chair and asked me what I was looking for. My hair was down to my waist and I had some cheap red box dye already in my hair. It was a mess. I told her I wanted bangs (big gamble) my hair cut to my shoulders and to color it a very dark brown/black with Carmel highlights brushed in. She informed me that the red box die might be tough but she would do everything she could. She was very patient and listened to everything I wanted. I even had some pictures to help explain. She colored my hair and was very personable. Took me into a separate room with calm lighting and washed my hair (head massage, offered warm or cool eye packs...the whole nine yards). Took me over to do the cut and worked with a razor and sheers. She dried it, styled it and even put in some curls. I am not a hair expert and had asked a ton of questions. She answered all of them and gave me a ton of pro tips on curling, blow drying, after care for the color and everything in between. My hair looked absolutely amazing. All the girls came over and complimented the enormous transformation and I really felt well taken care of. They were all very genuinely kind, considerate and really made me feel like a million bucks. So now the scary part. They had basic pricing online, but of course it's all dependant on length of hair and what ever... so I'm at the counter and thinking "oh god, that was really awesome and my hair looks really nice but I can only imagine what this is going to cost"... And I am in complete and udder shock when they tell me how affordable it was. I had All over permanent color, brushed highlights, cut about 6 inches off, blow dry, style AND curls AANNNND had Erica explain how to curl my own hair at home with all of her other awesome insights...and it was LESS than $165. I have gone to so many different places and have never found a salon with such talented stylists, polite and warm staff AND good prices. I will never go any where else! read more
