Completed the online forms, set up a scheduled phone call, received confirmation of time & day of phone call only to be ghosted. Despite an email at 9AM stating that the call would be in 1 hour, I've yet to be contacted. One can only ascertain that the $6K + in membership fees is meaningless to them if they expect potential clients to track them down to give them money. It also makes one wonder if, after forking over 4 figures a year, the difficulty in getting to a physician during non-business hours. Let's face it, if the first impression is this bad, it does not give hope for a positive experience thereafter. Although irritated after having my time wasted, I'm going to put this experience in the win column. Seems like the universe & PartnerMD did me a solid--keeping money in the bank & removing unprofessional & potentially aggravating interactions from my life.

The two ladies at the reception are always nice and friendly to me and usually recognize me when I arrive. One particular person in the lab wasn't my favorite but he got the job done and I usually didn't have a complaint with his performance. I've rarely had any issues with long waits for Dr Joshi but I've noticed some other patients have complaints of other doctors constantly having long waits.

Lisa, at the front desk, gave me condolences then stated (word for word), "Let me just go ahead & cancel the appt for you, just give us a call back when you're ready to reschedule." I thought, "wow that was so nice of her." However, when I called yesterday to get seen ASAP, Jo-Ann was extremely inept of showing any type of emotion; which came off highly rude & as if she had zero compassion. She even said, "We all have stuff going on in our lives & you needed to be here for your most recent appt; you shouldn't have canceled it because now we're having to say goodbye to you for good as a patient." So, because Lisa in the front office canceled it or put me as a no show, & did not let me reschedule right then, I'm being let go as a patient for it. 6 years down the drain for something THEY did & put in the system that I flat out canceled/no showed. So I called them several times right when they opened at 8:30AM today (8/31/21), only to keep getting the run around being told the only person I could talk to is Jo-Ann. & that I could only even speak to my doctor's nurse & not the actual doctor I've been seeing for 6 YEARS, who also told me I would have to speak to Jo-Ann about this. So I left Jo-Ann a voicemail around 8:50am, have yet to get a call back whatsoever still.

She has no sense of doctor-patient cordiality/manners. She's not very friendly at all and seems very detached from and disinterested in her patients. I really did not like the way I was treated. It's hard to verbalize, but you'll know exactly what I mean if you choose to see her. That's exactly how my experience was--people told me about her and I couldn't understand what they meant, but when I saw her the first time, it all made sense. Her nurses are downright rude to top off her complete lack of emotion or genuineness. I've heard that, despite the negatives I mentioned, she knows her stuff, but she's not what I'm looking for. She's a bit too cold for me.

I have several chronic medical conditions and have been going to Patient First which isn't the best for someone like me. I was looking for someone who could give me all my prescriptions etc. Dr. Cella spent about an hour with me - she talked to me, took a full history, and I got a physical with lots of extra bloodwork because she wanted to test my vitamin d levels as well as screen me for celiac disease based on what my symptoms are. She was really nice and I walked out with 2 prescriptions for my insomnia and my anxiety disorder, as well as 2 referrals for an allergist and a dermatologist. Her office even made the appt for me for the dermatologist before I left. I'm excited to find a good PCP. The office is located behind JW hospital in the medical office park.

There are a lot of buildings in the medical complex and you have to drive up to the door of each…read morebuilding to see the addresses -- it's the building with the big OrthoVirginia sign at the top -- it's on the 3rd floor, so add time for parking, walking, and waiting for the elevator. It was a very busy place. I arrived for my 930 new patient appointment at about 935. There was a registration line of several people. When it was my turn, I was greeted by a friendly person and went through the check-in and copay procedure, including digital forms on a tablet. I then had to wait in line, again, to give the tablet back. Then, it was off to wait. About 1020, (45 mins later), I was called back to be advised I arrived too late and would need to reschedule. I mentioned I was only about 8 mins late (including waiting in the registration line) and was advised new patients are supposed to arrive 15 mins early, so I was outside the 15 minute window. I get the late policies. I felt horrible for being a couple minutes late, but I was definitely within the 15 minute window. However, I wasn't advised I needed to arrive by 915, I was told my appointment was at 930 and to bring my ID, insurance card, and list of medications (I took notes). And, if I was outside the arrival window, why was I allowed to register, pay my co-payment, and sit for 45 minutes just to be told to reschedule? Patients are usually advised of late arrival at registration. Thanks for wasting my time off from work. Will I get my $25 back? (It applied to the next visit!) I'm adding one star for the friendliness of the registration clerk and the doctor. I was able to reschedule the next week, and the reviews and recommendations for this doctor are overwhelmingly great, so we will see how it goes and I will update. UPDATE: I went back for appointment, previous results in hand, and asked to run the same labs, stating valid reasons, including an issue I had previously that was detected by running a lab not being ordered, and also that we couldn't compare apples to oranges, etc. The first request was refused and the second request was ignored, so I made an appointment with a different doctor. Side Rant: It is so hard to find a doctor that will work with you and not ON you. No one knows my body and my medical history better than ME! After all, I'm paying for a service. It's like going to a restaurant and having the server tell you what you are going to eat. LOL Feel free to message me recommendations! IMHO, the office staff could use some training in scheduling. Be sure to take extra time off work so you can arrive 15 mins earlier than your appointment or risk having to reschedule! She seems like a great doctor, just not one willing to work WITH me for my particular issue. YMMV

When I talk to Dr. McKenzie, I repeatedly note that she is two things: caring and competent. I find that this to be an ideal mixture for me. I don't just want a doctor who is JUST attentive to my concerns and is kind (which Dr McKenzie definitely is), but who doesn't seem highly skilled at their job. I also don't want the other extreme- a doctor who seems well-read and passionate about medical concerns (which she also is!) but who doesn't listen. Dr. McKenzie is a good balance of both of these positive traits! I feel confident that she wants to get down to the bottom of what is bothering me, and not just give me a prescription. In fact, she has been helpful in guiding me to stop taking some meds that were harmful. She is funny and passionate about healthcare. I feel well cared for when I leave her office!

I injured my shoulder/arm and went through the extended care facility. I arrived at 1:37pm (there were four people ahead of me), was taken to the back to a room at 3:00ish pm. Nikta Safavi, PA-C saw me at 3:45pm and ordered x-rays (mind you x-rays closes at 4:00pm). I was taken back for x-rays, back in the room by 4:20 and waited till 4:50pm for the Safavi to come back to the room and tell me no broken bones. Safavi wanted to prescribe me medicine that I explained to her I could not take (she still prescribed it), never submitted the prescription I could take or the referral for an Ortho visit. I had to call multiple times to get the medication and the referral. While Safavi was pleasant she came across unsure and not very confident in what she was doing. I was surprised to learn she has been a PA for a number of years. Perhaps she was just having a bad day? I do know I will not use the Extended Clinic for any future walk-in visit.
