How can this be true when I had been a patient for 10+ years. I got labs, referrals, letters from him and his office. I believe my dismissal was retaliation because of wrongful behavior towards my partner. The termination came in a letter unsigned by The Physicians of Commonwealth Primary Care. I never did anything to cause this behavior towards me. What did I do so bad to be treated this way? Now, I am scrambling to find care. Dr. Stein is not the honorable person I thought he was. Stay away from this practice.

We have several members of our family with very specific health needs and Dr. Carl and his staff keep us up to date so we don't have to remember all of the details! They take care of it for you. Making appointments is as easy as can be. Prescription refills are always checked and evaluated and dispensed appropriately. Cathy is the lead nurse and she is always super organized and extremely helpful and communicative! Colleen is such a sweet and welcoming member of WellcomeMD. I always love seeing her face!:) Heidi is fabulous on the phone and great with communications. She gets the job done! But when it comes to your health, your relationship with your doctor, it's an intimate dynamic because it requires clarity and trust on the part of the doctor and patient. Dr. Carl is so relaxed that he puts his patients at ease immediately. He is thorough and goes through all of your blood panels with you one-on-one and makes excellent suggestions and also is complimentary if he feels that you are doing well. He will prescribe supplementation only if it is reflected as needed in your bloodwork. Personally, my blood pressure zooms up every time I go to the doctor. But with Dr. Carl, he brings it back to normal and puts me at ease. Obviously, my entire family and I are fans of WellcomeMD. I recommend Dr. Carl and Dr. Colfer to everyone I know! As an aside, we drive 1.5 hours each way, just to be a part of their practice. They are THAT good.

Worst of all, still no answers. Still no genetic or allergy testing. Zero discussion or advice about supplements, etc., which I expected would be forefront. It's just a pcp gatekeeper, like when you had a pediatrician. Now looking for a new pcp coordinated with specialists (perhaps VCU), somewhere with expertise in areas of need. And sadly (trying not to be sick over it (pun intended)), still have months on the Wellcome contract ($$$ :( ).

When the time came to when I was having a major medical issue the man literally does nothing. Immediately it's... he can't help, go see a specialist. Anytime you go to see him he is in and out as fast as he can, ignores what you are telling him or is dismissive. Comes in talks to you, listens to your chest with a stethoscope and then boom, out. Terrible patient / doctor interaction. Always thought it was just a one off thing, nope it's every time. I had to essentially argue for him to repeat testing, that states all over online recommends that this occurs. Avoid this Doctor and this practice at all costs. Just a terrible experience having to argue, plead, just to advocate for myself.

The service, however, left more to be desired, especially from medical professionals. My check-in felt methodical and unfriendly. Then, it was lost in translation between the front desk and the medical staff. No one bothered to apologize for the extra 30 minute wait. While I was waiting, I overheard a patient saying she was there, by phone request, to sign a document. After receiving the same methodical, unfriendly service, she was told they couldn't find the document, but IF they found it, they would call her back. After she left, they made negative remarks about how it had been several days since they called and she was 'just now' coming into the office. Then, I heard the same person who was supposed to call when she found the document say she found it, IF the patient calls back. I wanted to yell "BUT YOU SAID YOU'D CALL HER!!" I also overheard several other phone calls regarding patient's issues. On my first visit, I overheard the medical staff chatting negatively, almost gossiping, about patients, too. Anyone heard of HIPAA? Once I was called back, I felt the friendliness and professionalism continued to be lacking. I feel that Dr. Habib did not do a good job of actually listening to me, but instead seemed to only pick out bits and pieces of what I was saying and proceeded to go off on a tangent, to the point that she offered a prescription for an antidepressant which was completely unrelated to my medical issue. We never even discussed my lab results (of which some tests were left off the lab order) which was WHY I WAS THERE, before she suggested I make an appointment with a specialist. I told her on my first visit, I no longer wanted to see a specialist, because they didn't focus on the whole person, i.e., why I made an appointment with Internal Medicine in the first place. I want to figure out how to get ALL the dominos in order, not just one of them. But, per usual, she didn't listen then either. When I mentioned I'd need a medication refill, she told me I'd be okay if I went a little while without meds until I could see the specialist. I felt the lab work and both appointments with this office were a complete waste of my time. IMHO, steer clear of this medical office. The patient is NOT the priority.
