This place was recommended by a Teaneck resident with a lot of high compliments, so I did get take-out from here once awhile ago and remember everything being good, so had to check it out again. And, do you see the 5 stars I gave this place? Yes, definitely a 5-star place! The food here was so delicious! My friend and I weren't that hungry, so we had to be very selective about what we could try. We really wanted the beef empanadas, so we each got one. We loved the empanadas, which were flavorful. BTW, their empanadas are pretty big, so they are pretty filling. It came with 2 sauces, which seem like sour cream (?). I liked the white one better than the pinkish/orangish one. And, I believe that if a restaurant's pernil is good, this will prove the place is legit. And, their pernil was so delicious - flavorful, tender, and juicy. It was my friend's first time trying pernil and what a perfect one to try for her first time. I told her that if someone ever makes pernil, that is a labor of love. But my favorite thing at this place is the yucca (cassava) smothered in garlic sauce. It's sooooooooo good! Their entrees come with 2 sides, so make sure that this is one of your sides. So flavorful and that garlic sauce elevates this dish. And all of that food with one drink, came out to around $25. Hello! That's the price for one dish these days! And, the staff were super nice and attentive. They were so thoughtful with making sure we had utensils and right number of plates to share with each other. And helped us pack our leftover food. So sweet! I definitely need to go back to try their milkshakes and desserts. They had so many choices! I definitely saw a tres leche cake there, which was calling my name. Oh! I also need to try their other empanadas, which they have so many different kinds of. When you look at the restaurant from outside, you might simply walk by it or hesitate because it's a very simple looking place. Don't let that façade deceive you! Go in and have their food! You won't be disappointed! Tips: -There is street parking in front and on the side streets. -You can either order at the counter to get the food to go or dine in. Or you could sit at a table and someone could take your order. We ordered at the counter and got our food served to us. -All the entrees come with 2 sides. If you want rice, that will be considered a side. Obviously, it doesn't hurt to order a few extra sides, such as yucca smothered in garlic sauce. -I do admit that I had to look up pictures of the dishes before ordering because I'm not familiar with most of the dishes. So, if you are not familiar with these types of dishes, definitely do your research ahead of time or you will get hangry trying to figure out what to eat. -Their lunch price is $9.99. I have to go back and try it. Don't know big the portions will be but that's a great price for a lunch special.

After a wonderful walk at the Teaneck Creek Conservancy with the Bergen County Audubon Society (BCAS), we decided to grab a bite to eat at Mis Raices, a Puerto Rican and Cuban fusion restaurant. This was our first visit, and it turned out to be just what we needed. The food was really tasty, the prices were spot on, and the portions were generous. I opted for the Sandwich Cubano, which included roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and garlic mojo. It was delicious. I also ordered a side of Yuca al Ajillo, which complemented the sandwich perfectly. The menu offered a great selection, showcasing a variety of empanadas and Chicharron, along with traditional dishes like Ropa Vieja and pernil. The staff were super friendly and very attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. The music selection was also impressive. It's always nice to go out with friends you don't normally get to hang out with. I look forward to another lunch date with my birding friends. The service by the owner's son was amazing. The Chicken Empanada and Cangrejo Empanada were very delicious and juicy. The Alcapurria was so tasty... NOW the main entree that we order: Sancocho was cold and tasted burned. The White Rice and Chicken were dry with no taste. And the Masitas de Cerdo NOooo Season at all. Food was dry and unseasoned. The temporary chef definetly need a couple lessons from the main chef whom is the owner. She's for sure missed... And, yes I'm 100% Boricua!...

juuuuuuicy pernil w crispy skin- what more can a girl ask for? i appreciate the separate packaging- that way nothing gets mushy or soggy especially with to go orders. i wish the beans were a little more seasoned and they tasted a bit old. would come back again!

We stopped off at this wonderful spot for some Puerto Rican food. I ordered the chuletas fritas with arroz con gandules and maduros. The chuletas were off the hook - absolutely finger-licking good! My wife ordered the pastelon de picadillo y platano, which was exceptionally good. My mango shake was a perfect accompaniment to my meal. We finished our meal with great desserts: I had the flan, which was very good, and my wife had the Tres Leche Oreo, an excellent choice! The cafe con leche was the icing on the cake for a truly wonderful night out. We highly recommend this lovely spot. And a special shout-out to our lovely waitress; she was wonderful!

First time here and the food was absolutely amazing. Funny we just landed in EWR from SJU. We were still in the mood for good authentic Puerto Rican food. Service was very attentive as well. Absolutely love the ambiance. Still felt like we were away. Will be back again! We also had the flan and bread pudding. Loveeee it!

Nada filling ? Where is the chicken / cheese. $2.75 for dough

Empanadas are empty. I order a chicken and cheese Emapanada and it had nada inside. just air. stop being cheap & scamming your customers. Yes ,I informed establishment and they said they will remake, when they did it was even emptier. I'm entitled to a review , and am being fair. If it was full with meat and cheese then the picture would depict that. Stop selling empty empanadas and charging $2.75 !! Its gives SCAM

We ordered from Grubhub in the past, but this is our 1st time physically in the restaurant. How cute, the wall was decorated like a Caribbean house :D The wife is Puerto Rican, and the husband is Cuban, hence the blend of food. Very nice couple and great service. Passion Fruit Juice was good, not watered down, kind of taste like being in the Islands. Morir Sonando was ok The bread they leave for you, while you wait, was so good, soft bread with some garlic. Mofongo with Garlic Chicken was good but pretty basic Bacalao with Garlic Yucca, the bacalao was very saucy, which I love, but had I known, I would have ordered rice. It didn't go well with Garlic Yucca, which is amazing! Must have the garlic yucca, I had ordered this in the takeout, so I had to get it fresh in store :D. It went well with Chicharron. Just don't order it with Bacalao. The bacalao is very good on its own. Our takeout was Chicharron de Pollo and Masitas De Cerdo, which were both delicious. We also tried many empanadas. It was delicious after delivery, which made it slightly cold, imagine fresh. Our favorites were the Crab and Chicken and Cheese. Delivery was good, but eating it fresh in the restaurant was better.

Was craving some chicharrón, got black bean rice and wanted to try fried cassava as my sides. Also got a guava cheese empanada. Placed the order through grubhub and got my food by the scheduled time! I was surprised how cheap the food was when I was ordering through the app, because I'm used to there being a markup on the food. I stacked a coupon on top of my order so all this came to about $15 including tip. I was expecting half of what they gave me, there was so much food. The sides were massive and came out in separate containers. The cassava was perfectly fried - crispy but not too crunchy. Beans rice had plenty of beans and flavor. Chicharrón tasted as expected, with fresh lime wedges on the side. Everything was neatly packed + nice and warm! The most 'meh' part of my meal was the guava cheese empanada, but it wasn't bad. There was a lot of guava jelly, a little less cheese, and a lot of empanada crust to bite through to reach the filling (I picked some off). Only thing is they forgot the cilantro garlic sauce, which is fine because the fried cassava was good without it too. Overall, GREAT value for what you pay for and good quality. I can see why it was rated so highly on the delivery apps.

If you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine--look no further. THIS IS IT! And we are never going elsewhere. We tried other restaurants, and NO OTHER restaurant compares. What started as a search for "the Best Puerto Rican restaurant", produced a couple of recommendations--but Mis Raices stood out above the rest. So we decided to give this well rated restaurant a shot. I was communicating with Ana about space because I was concerned about whether there would be tables. What a surprise when they welcomed us to their restaurant that they are still in the process of formally opening. You would never guess from the street, how beautiful and cozy this restaurant is. Ana and Edi were very welcoming, we felt like old friends! They have an expansive menu so come hungry! We ordered crab and shrimp empanadas, Mofongo Chicarron, Mofongo de Camarones, oxtail stew, Pernil and finished our dinner with flan and tres leches. We almost ordered the entire menu! Everything was so appealing. Did I mention we also had coquito? There are reviews regarding the saltiness of food. Keep in mind, everyone has a different palette. The food is flavorful and beans/rice are intended to balance saltiness. When I tell you that everything we ordered was not only beautifully presented, they were all DELICIOUS! Take a look at our pics. In closing, we wish Ana and Edi much success on their restaurant. Their success is very well deserved! From their hospitality, ambience, food selections, and their service---all top notch. We hope everyone curious or are looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine to try Mis Raices. Decided to try this place out after checking out the reviews. Got lucky with parking right in front. It wasn't busy when we got there as we were the only ones there when we arrived. But by the time we got our food, the place got packed. We waited a while to order as the lady working was busy on the phone. Food was delicious as we tried the pernil lunch special and also the garlic chicken with mofongo. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The only drawback was that things we wanted to order like the plantain chips that were highly recommended weren't available. Also weren't able to order tostones since they haven't changed the oil. Other issue was just waiting for food but didn't really mind it since the food was good but something to think about in case you are in a hurry. We had also ordered Cuban sandwich which came a bit later so we just had it wrapped to go. Overall i will def be back to try other things. read more

Their food is good - only! Only if you could get it within 30-40 minutes after they cooked it. We had a terrible experience of waiting for almost 2 hours for the food and because the new driver got lost. Unfortunately, our bellies suffered and their awesome food was the casualty of that error. I've eaten their food 1-2x when it was served on time and I enjoyed it very much! read more

Had their chicken and beef empanadas and they were soooooo good! Very authentic and tasty. The place is small, but cozy. I also ordered the ropa vieja with white rice, but I must admit it wasn't the best I've had, but still not too bad. Overall I'll def be ordering from there again. Wait was a little long, but empanadas were worth it! I would prob just order ahead of time for pickup. read more

This is my first 5 star review. It is well deserved. The food was amazing. Excellent!! I have had the pleasure of not only tasting Cuban/Puerto Rican food. .but also being embraced by Latin hospitality. This place is good for the soul as well as your palate. Eddie the owner was a phenomenal host. His wife the chef...superb. the prices sealed the deal. Why spend money on take out.? This is what's needed for dinner. If you want authentic Puerto Rican and Cuban food this is the place to go. My cousin and his wife came in from San Francisco and wanted some local carribbean food. The beef empanadas and alcalpurias were delicious as our appetizers. We then ordered mofongo with pork chicharon, white rice , beans and sweet plantains, bacalao in a creole sauce, shrimp creole and avacado salad. The portions were large and the flavor was amazing. The owners are so friendly and make you feel right at home. I know where to go when Im in the mood for a great night with friends and really amazing dishes. read more

I have eaten spanish food in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and New York City. This is the best spanish food I have ever had the pleasure to eat. It pains me that I live so close to Mis Raices because I cannot stay away. You feel like you are at home with family. It is always a wonderful experience. I love them!! read more

Absolutely delicious food! We started with the beef empanadas which were seasoned perfect, great empanada shell with a tasty crunch. I had ropa vieja. The shredded beef was succulent. The rice was done perfect and combining the two-well, I finished my plate faster than my husband! Which says a lot! Husband had the crispy pork mofongo. He says it was amazing! 5* out of 5! Portions were great! We also had the Maduros. They were sweet and soft with the crispy caramelized edges. They came out piping hot and exactly what we wanted. We live an hour away but will definitely make a special trip to come here any day! The staff are all very accommodating, attentive and really made it a wonderful experience. We were there with our 8 month old daughter and they even paid a lot of attention to her! The seating area is small and the place was regularly occupied. Uber eats as to go orders were flying out the door and I'm not surprised. I'm sure if they had a bigger dining area it would have been filled with how good the food is! It has a take out atmosphere with five star restaurant food. Don't pass them up! read more

At first, it may not look like much. A store front on a busy street. Walk in and it's a homey, comfortable place. The aroma has you sitting down and the flavor of the dishes will bring you back It's the type of place that makes you think about your childhood with abuela cooking in the back. read more

Great food and service. The pernil was full of flavor and very tender. The mango shake was amazingly good- not the water down tasteless stuff I have been given in other places. My husband's ropa vieja was extremely delicious and so was my picky son's garlic chicken. If you are looking for lots of flavor and authentic cuban/puerto rican food this is it. I travel over half hour to get here. Well worth it. read more

BEST DAMN CHICKEN EMPANADAS EVER. My family and I ordered here for the first time last night. I had a hankering for empanadas. So many options in the area. I researched all of them and I'm so glad I picked this spot. Everyone loved them. So savory. Comforting. (Not mini either). Even my super picky 4-year-old son. We were shocked. Came here cause of yelp. Came here and food was just alright the steak and onions was just okay at best. Empanadas was average. My wife had the chicken soup and she thought it was ok. Pork chops was really the only thing we thought was good. This place is ok not great for me. The staff was nice read more

Amazing Puerto Rican cuisine!!! I am a health nut so I tried the chicken empanadas as an appetizer which were incredible! I then got the chicken with sautéed onions with avocado and black beans on the side. It was so simple yet so flavorful! The owners are so passionate about everything they do! Definitely will be back! read more

My boyfriend and I were craving oxtail but not the Jamaican kind, so we found this place on yelp. The oxtail was delicious and served a generous portion. We enjoyed the complimentary plantain chips with dipping sauce. We came back the following day for their $6 lunch special. We had the wings and pork chops which were both yummy. I'm glad I was about to find this place with yelp! Will definitely be coming back for more. read more

Went here Sunday early evening as wifey wanted to take me out to dinner for Father's Day and I was craving some Cuban food. Found this place on Yelp and not too far from home. Small place but very homey. Seems they just opened recently. We have the Chicharron (chicken cracklings) de pollo with rice and red beans. We also have Empanadas de carne, beef meat patties. The food was good and the ambience really nice. The owner greeted us. Very nice guy. His wife treated us to a sample of the shrimp salad which was very good. Might have that with rice and beans next time we go. The chicken was good as was the rice and beans. All in all a very nice place to get a bite to eat. Will definitely check it out again. read more

We decided a few nights ago to try a new restaurant. I'm currently 6months pregnant and grew up in St. Croix (USVI) and have been craving good Caribbean/Latin food with no relief honestly we've tried many places. However late one night we decided to give this place a try as suggested on Ubereats let me just say "Freakin Yummmmmmmmmm!!!!" Oh *insert drooling face here* I ordered Pernil with white rice , red beans and sweet plantain, my husband ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce with yellow rice and an empanada. I thought maybe because it was a craving fulfilling it was why it was so good but my husband and I sang praises while eating uncontrollably. Every bite was delicious everything was perfectly seasoned and the Pernil was so succulent and flavorful. The plantains were perfect. I immediately felt like I was back home on my island eating from our local Puerto Rican restaurants. Everything was delicious the portions and the prices were great. I was too excited to eat to take a picture but it arrived hot and exceeded my expectations. We will be ordering again and again and again !! read more

I was there when they first open food was very good but then I went back few months later and I was totally different The food didn't taste the same the place was not clean One of the waiters was sitting in a regular table with her legs on top of a share that doesn't look right for the place The owners were also sitting on the tables playing with their phones I will never go back to this place ‍‍ read more

The food here is excellent as well as the service. The sancocho is very tasty and fulfilling. Pollo a la plancha of the hook but my personal fave is the Cuban sandwich. Just got my food and probably the best Cuban sandwich I've ever eaten. The delivery guy was extremely nice and apologized for getting my address wrong. We arrived there by 7:58 pm and it was CLOSED! No review for them. On their site and Yelp shows it open until 10:00 pm but alas this wasn't meant to be. Customer beware. Call before going otherwise you'll find yourself disappointed. The place has NO PARKING LOT. There is street parking and according to Waze a lot 3-5 minutes walking distance away. read more

Hi, my name is Ana and I’m Puerto Rican from Humacao and I have a passion for cooking. I have 2 children Yeslin who is currently my manager at the restaurant and Jon Carlo our son in the family. We then got our dinners- pollo al ajillo, perchuga de pollo a la plancha and the Cuban sandwich. Everything came out very quick and tasted amazing!!
