In fact, thru Shorty's in Indiana, we were quoted a price for the Carrier brand blower motor- $790 In fact, Shorty's told us what an easy fix this particular blower motor was. FYI: Shorty's marks up the prices by 20% to the trade and consumers. https://shortyshvac.com Bruce quoted a price of $2001- the highest estimate we had gotten from 5 companies. What part was being used, an EOM, or an aftermarket? We have no idea what that $ 2001 entailed- a massive markup on the part is what we presume, or an incredible hourly rate. We told him the price from Shorty's and he responded that his supplier was double in price. (WUT??) We bought the part from Shorty's. Had to ask twice via text to learn that Bruce was not interested in installing it for us. " We can only install parts we source and purchase. The installation of customer supplied parts presents issues with insurance coverage and warranty policy." What issues are they Bruce? is it that this job means you are making less money since your supplied parts markup is gone? Am sure that is it. Lack of transparency is not a winner for us. We have a 1 year warranty for this part from Shorty's. This quote and final response was unfortunate, especially knowing that we had opted to move to New Holland HVAC after our contract was over. They do 1.5 million dollars with First American Home warranty, which owner proudly stated. Their highest regard is serving the home warranty company and not the customer. We have a mechanical breakdown of our AC handler. We have no AC. The entire coil inside and outside is completely iced over. Tech stated he would return in 2 weeks after previously stating that the coil had a leak to check and stated it works, and it was. I linger frozen. He stated the home warranty company would not replace the unit, which we know is a lie since we have been a customer for 13 years. Then he took back the comment that the coil had a leak, blamed the blower and then said there is no diagnosis. He does not have the technical skills to diagnose an AC outage nor is he willing to state on insurance paperwork a replacement. Replacement should be stated due to age of system and coil leak. We had another contractor come to our house before the home warranty contractor and he stated the unit has a coil leak and needs to be replaced. York Mechanical was fired on the spot due to unwillingness to diagnose our AC outage. They also leaked excess freon into our yard. Tech said "I have to take what you say with a grain of salt," which is stating that I am lying about our AC outage. Can you even imagine being told this by a tech with your AC broken? He told us we turn our AC down too low at night and that is why it is frozen over. If you go with this company to do work with your AC out, they have a 2 week lead time at least. Under warranty while waiting for parts you will have no ac up to a possible 6 weeks. I do not recommend this company unless you want to have someone who does not want to truly help you and is more worried about pumping more business into his business via home warranty calls.

His contract stated 10 years part and labor but we had to replace a coil (Oct 2025) and $1500 later... system is not working again (Aug 2026). 3 companies recently came out and ALL agreed that the system is too big and NOT WORKING. NOW we need a NEW system. I am reporting him to BBB AND ATTORNEY GENERAL OF PA. Shame on him. Don't fall for his old school blah blah blah. Terrible. I am sure he will have a great response. I explained that before providing all of my information, I just wanted confirmation that Ranck actually performs the service. Instead of answering the question, she insisted the answer was contingent on those details. I asked whether those questions had any bearing on whether the company offers the service at all, and she again stated that the answer depended on who I was. As someone calling about what could have been a significant commercial project, I found the interaction frustrating and unwelcoming. A simple, "Let me check and confirm whether we offer that service," would have gone a long way.
