Ratings: 7.5/10 Mishmish on Fraser St is a bakery/café that serves Middle Eastern eateries. The place didn't really have any unique or distinct design, to be honest--it looks like a typical café. (I did hear that they have a relationship with Superbaba, and they do share a similar font/vibe.) I got their version of the bagel ($3.20) with apricot jam & labneh ($3.20) and karak milk ($5), which is sweet milk tea with cardamom. I really enjoyed the bagel--it's a lot softer than the typical round one. You also have a lot of options for the dip (vegan/savoury/sweet, etc.), so there's something for everyone. My friends got the halloumi platter and sandwiches, and all the dishes got great reviews. I also tried their Osmalleh ($8.50), which has crunchy layers of shredded filo dough with a sweet, milky layer. Unfortunately, the syrup made the pastry way too sweet. Definitely a dish to share with other people.

I have been meaning to check out this cafe from quite some time and finally got the opportunity to do so recently. First off, I love the aesthetics of the cafe and loved the vibe as I got to sit, work, and people watch for a bit. I got the Habibi tea with 1/2 sugar and liked that it wasn't too sweet. I paired it with the crispy kataifi nest and it was so unique and delicious. I was surprised how well the flavours went together and actually didn't find it too sweet. I also got a bagel and a concha to go and found them both very fresh. Highly recommend this cafe/bakery and will definitely be back. Super friendly staff and a moderate amount of seating both indoors and outdoors.

A bright welcoming cafe with lots of seating. I had the habibi tea and a selection of treats. My favourite was the tres leche and cornflake cookie! I love that the cookies uses halva as it give a nutty taste. I hope to go again to try out more drinks.

Really cute and bright coffee shop. Lots of tasty pastries and bagels. I got the tahini slush and the cornflake cookie. Both were excellent and not too sweet. Great way to start the morning.

Really tasty Concha Bun and Osmalieh The Concha bun ($4) is a Mexican sweet bread with a crunchy topping. The Osmalieh (8.50) is messy to eat but very unique with the crunchy layers, milky center and rose water syrup Although they have a lineup, service is quick They have a variety of brunch items like bagel sandwiches, boards for sharing, and dips for take away It's bright and clean inside, so a nice place to meet friends

Veggie bagel sandwich, sfoof tres leches, karak milk tea

Mishmish is a Middle Eastern fusion-y cafe and bakery. A few of the baked goods/desserts have a Mexican influence. The design of the cafe is a little generic but appealing; it feels open and modern but inviting. The baristas were very friendly! They give you a number and bring food and drink to your table. What I got: Veggie bagel sandwich: The elongated bagel was soft and almost fluffy, more than the usual NY or Montreal style round bagels, but still had structure and tenderness. Fresh veggies and flavourful zaatar inside. Sfoof tres leches: Some of my favourite flavours and textures. The sfoof was delicious with a deep flavour. This dessert was served in a cup and was about equal parts whipped cream and cake, which made it more like eating a parfait or tiramisu than a typical tres leches cake. Karak milk tea: I wanted to try this because I love a spiced milk tea, but was a little concerned that with condensed milk it would be too sweet - that was not the case - it was perfectly balanced. The cardamom was pretty subtle. I could tell it added something to the tea but it was less intense than you'd usually get in something like a cardamom chai. This was a smooth, pleasant drink. I would love to visit again if I get the chance and would definitely recommend trying them for a different coffee shop experience!

Nice new Moroccan/Persian themed coffee shop on Fraser. Mishmish means "apricot" in Arabic. Parking is plentiful on the side streets. Place is pretty modern. Mostly bare walls, and concrete floors. This place is definitely full service. Unlike most other coffee shops, they bring the food over. They even add cream and sugar to the coffee (there's no separate station). Staff are very friendly and chatty. Coffee was decent. No complaints. The ka'ak bagel is a bit pricy, but tasty. These things are elongated, unlike the round ones we're used to around here. Dips are sold separately. Not cheap, but quite tasty I must say. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point. Recommended.

Love the vibes in here, really open and clean space. We ordered their signature bagels and 2 different dips, and it was so goood! I absolutely recommend this place & service was great too.

Pasta perfectly al dente, fresh and flavourful sauce.....wonderful. This is a limited menu eatery, and that's not a bad thing at all--it shows a commitment to not only getting it right, but getting it perfect. A great little local grocer and casual restaurant, Mercato Di Luigi is well worth seeking out. Parking is somewhat limited, since it is located on East 12th, but if you can arrive on foot, all the better. A solid five stars. A simple bowl of perfect pasta just made my day.

It's so cute and quaint, fits maybe 8-10 people, so perfect for a little lunch date or girlfriend chat fest. We ordered lattes ($5), which were delicious, not too milky, definitely good strong espresso. We shared the daily special which was cream asparagus pasta and a mortadella sandwich. Perfect amount for two people. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and tasted so fresh, it had plenty of fresh cheese on top. I found it was a little salty, and a bit dry, but it was still delicious ($21). I will try another pasta next time. The mortadella sandwich ($13) we asked for grilled and it was sooo good. The fresh made foccacia was amazing. It had plenty of mayo and arugula which paired perfectly with the creamy mortadella. They sell plenty of fresh pasta sauces like bolognese, cacio Pepe, truffle cream sauce, along with fresh pasta including gluten free fresh pasta We loved our time here and we will be back!

My friend finally suggested it to me and after having lunch in the area I was able to pass by. It was a good choice, the latte was not too sweet but the flavours just mixed so well together. The workers were helpful in helping my friend decide on what to order. She got the ube latte which I also tried and thought it was delicious as well! The little shop is a order at the counter type situation and there is minimal seating inside. The seating was reminiscent of those little Vietnamese market stalls where you sit around on stools with boxed crates as your table. I'd love to pass by this spot again and give it another try!

I also had a lavender Matcha, which was super tasty with beautiful latte art on top. The tomato confit and cheese crêpe was delicious as was my pain au chocolat which is my benchmark for how good the pastries are everywhere I go! Really flaky, buttery, but not dripping in butter, with melted chocolate because they keep them in the warmer. This is a order at cashier spot with no table service so they meet my simple expectations for their service with decent politeness, accuracy and efficiency. Plus i find it convenient that they open as early as 7am. Some of my usual purchases here are the matcha drinks, chocolate croissants and earl grey muffins. I give 5 stars to their matcha and I recommend trying their sipping matcha drink if you are a matcha lover like me. They are quite spacious and you can work on your laptop here but it can get busy. It's not my first choice as study/work cafe because I prefer cafes with quiet corners with outlets or relaxing soft music and I find this spot has more of a hipster ambiance and is more ideal as a chill place for hanging out. Hmm, maybe come here to reply work emails but why overwork here when its vibes are set for unwinding ;-) There are side street parking available -- being able to park close by is a plus. Cafes in location with free parking options are the best, so you can buy items to go or you can choose to stay and relax, without the hassles of metered parking expiring and getting parking tickets. This place sells coffee beans and a variety of higher priced merchandise items, in case you need gift ideas or want the luxury of retail therapy for happy vibes.

I actually did some digging and self reflection before writing this as this was some weeks back that I tried to sit with my initials reaction. Popped in around 3pm on a weekday as I was in the area to pick up an americano and some pastries. The 5 minutes that I was around the counter and the interaction between myself and staff (one barista and one cashier) was odd. I made myself sit in a corner to sit with my own feelings post interaction. I'm not going to spend more time ruminating that encounter in detail. However, if one googles the signs and ideology of what a hipster is. I've received pure negative stereotype of a hipster. I found the cashier to me cold and smidge condescending, the barista didn't even acknowledge me, ignored my question and is clearly not deaf or blind when he was calling other patrons drink orders out. This poor Canadian even muttered an accidental thank you when I picked up my drink out of habit. That last one is one me. My 1st world problem of "to be me and be kind to others or straight out be reactionary when put in such situation is going to have me ready for my next battle with a passive aggrissive hipster at their work. ding ding let the battle commence.
