This is my second time ordering from Gary's Patisserie. The first time was in April, when I got to try the most magnificent mango cake - my impression at the time was already amazing. The price was very fair considering the quality and flavour. This time around, I ordered a mung bean and pandan cake for my dad's birthday. It is quite difficult to get my Asian parents' approval on sweets, as generally everything is too sweet and heavy for their liking. However, this cake really hit the spot! It was not too sweet, and the combination of pandan and mung bean was fragrant and flavourful. My parents had high praise for the cake, and so, needless to say, I will be back for every birthday of theirs. Their online platform is easy to navigate and order from. Pick-up is easy at their storefront on Kingsway, where you can also pick up cake jars and other little treats inside.

    Matcha and red bean cake

I ordered a matcha and red bean cake for my birthday and was able to receive it on the allotted pick up time. There wasn't any reviews that I found online, so I was skeptical. The service was quick and swift. If you are looking for cake that's not too sweet, then I definitely recommend! It was the perfect balance of the matcha and red bean and matched my sweet preferences.

I was influenced by someone on IG to check out this bakery that specializes in the most beautiful mango cake. I couldn't buy a whole mango cake since I'm visiting Vancouver, but I tried a couple jar cakes (Mango Lychee Mousse and durian), pandan mung bean cake roll, and HK milk tea and espresso cookies. I also got a jar of mango passion fruit jam for souvenir. Everything I tried was delicious, especially the HK milk tea cookies (perfect as a souvenir too). I was told the cookies can last for 6 months unopened. The store is very small and take-out only. They didn't have any ice pack, but the cashier was nice to find me a box to fit the 6+ jars I purchased.

My friend pre-ordered their popular mango cakes in a jar last week, so we came by to pick them up. There's convenient street parking nearby. The mango cakes are definitely bestsellers -- preordering is a must! The ambiance was chic, and the staff were friendly. They even had cookie samplers available to try before deciding. The cakes in a jar were creative and absolutely delicious! The cookies were just as good. Overall, a great experience -- we'll definitely be back!

I've always heard about the mango cakes here but never get to order them in time. Anyway, I did end up checking them out. They actually have mango cakes in a jar, but there were none on the day that I visited. Instead, I got a pandan cake in a jar, which was terrible. Nothing but sponge cake and icing. Overpriced and too sweet for my liking. The black forest was much better with actual cherries. Maybe I'll check out the mango cake one day, but not sure if I'll buy another cake in a jar for what you're paying, it's not worth it.

Inconvenient store location however worth a try if you are a mango fan. Beautifully decorated with thick slices of mangoes on top, reasonable amount in the cake and thinner layer wrapped around the cake. I love the sweet mangoes as they are in season in July. Tasted the natural sweetness of mangoes without added ingredients. Also love the light level of whipped cream as I'm not a fan of cream. The sponge cake however is the weakness part to me as they are relatively on the dense side. Overall a delightful experience to enjoy this mango cake for the first time. Given the amount of mango and required craftsmanship, I feel the price matches the high expectation of what is delivered. Regular service as you expect from a cake shop.

Their mango cake is best in town! Loads of mango and are always sweet! Their durian cake is also delicious if you are into durians. They are super busy, so you have to order in advance and might not be able to preorder for weekends/holidays if they are too busy. The shop is small, but it's just a grab and go. Parking is easy outside the shop.

Ube cake with rose on top

I wish I took a picture where there was more light, but the cake turned out well. We ordered a 4 inch ube cake and they ended up putting a rose on it. The rose was slightly brown on the outside but that's ok since it's not as noticeable. The cake itself wasn't too sweet and it was the perfect end to our meal. I would definitely visit again.

Beautiful Purple Yam cake Whenever I can, I love to support local. We have so many talented bakers in Vancouver! I had a little extra time to do some research, and ordered the cake a few days early instead of rushing to the closest grocery bakery Thanks to all the amazing Yelp reviews, I decided on the Purple Yam cake The ordering process was easy for pickup The cake itself was very aesthetically pleasing with the pop of purple colour and flower topper. The sponge was moist and complimented well with the mashed purple yam This is a perfect cake for those who like a light and less sweet cake.

I never thought that I would be so much in love with a cake. This mango cake from Gary Patisserie is 100% pluperfect. If you are a mango lover, you would be regret not trying it. The cake was super fluffy. The fresh and juicy mango were surrounded around the three-tier sponge cake and formed in a beautiful rose pattern. Gary Patisserie is located in the neighbourhood of Burnaby Heights. It is very near to Costco. It is located at 5279 Still Creek Avenue. Dessert: Must Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍‍ Kids: A-OK for kids Price: $30-$50 for a 6" seasonal cake Presentation: Parking: Street or validated parking Tips: has easy ordering process through their website. provides order confirmation and pick-up instructions. has options to order a cake from 4" to 10" sizes Would I Return: Yes ‍

So technically this was dessert #3 over the course of not even an hour. The good thing is that this was not an overwhelmingly sweet or heavy dessert. It really went down with the same ease as just a regular mango would have, but it just had some extra (mostly natural) stuff. I'd happily enjoy this deliciousness on a regular basis if I lived in Vancouver. There were a ton of menu items that looked appealing, so I'm might even be their best customer.

Their waffles are incredibly crisp and light, despite the amount of toppings on them. I don't know how they make them so they stay so resistant to going soggy. And despite the amount of whipped cream, ice cream and sauce on them, the waffle was always able to balance out the sweetness. Their waffles are just perfect balance of flavour and texture.
