This Restaurant is in side of the Gas Station next door to the Main Restaurant. Here She serves Breakfast and BBQ, next door she serves Soul Foods. I am looking forward to stopping in to the Main Restaurant. Ms. Patty was my cook and Server. I received friendly Service and invited to return. I tried the Sauce Sandwich for my first visit. 2 for 10$, very flavorful without sauce of any kind. Store and kitchen was clean, lots of parking. Please give her a try. She is the only Woman owned BBQ spot in this area that I know of. My only request for both locations, is to cook real food and Beverage items. Cook with Healthy Beef Tallow, Avocado oil, and extra virgin olive oil. No Seed Oils. Convert all ingredients and foods to Organic foods. I'm not easily impressed but will admit it when I am. My husband was in the neighborhood and told me he saw this place. I've been meaning to try this place since it opened and I am SO happy I did. I asked him if there were any daily special and he sent me a pic. I chose the fried catfish with opelousas sauce over dirty rice. Y'all. It was so good!!! I've only had 2 official check in but I've actually had it many other times! I thought why not finally write a review. So generally you can get really good seafood and chicken. The seafood is fried and really well seasoned. I only took off a star cause sometimes the fries can get really salty. My go-to is generally the shrimp basket with ranch. The shrimp is REALLY good, not sure if fresh but definitely taste fresh. I also had the philly cheese. The portions are okay but the taste (when not too salty) definitely makes up for it. I've visited this truck a few times on UH campus. Like all the trucks I have to spend more than I want to but the food is good. I really like the kickin' grilled chicken poboy. I wanted to like this place and was excited when I heard they were coming to the Food Park off St. Emanuel in EaDo. I have been on a quest to find the best "Philly" cheesesteak in Houston, and I figured this place would be a contender as they seemed to serve tasty Louisiana fare. The menu was varied, but not overwhelming, and the prices seemed very reasonable for a food truck. I ordered my sandwich which came with fries and that already ticked me off just a little bit. I know it's weird, but I don't really like French fries and I really don't appreciate having to pay for something extra that I don't plan to eat. Anyhoo, at $8, it still seemed like a solid deal. There was a line about 6-7 people deep which was a good sign, and regardless, they had my order ready and bagged up in about 5 minutes. I eagerly took the bag back to my truck and opened it with an excited anticipation that I often feel when trying new and promising cuisine. Much to my dismay, the sandwich was very small and the fries were cut too large to be crispy and delicious. I tried the fries, and although they were seasoned well, they were droopy and a bit sad. Regardless of the size of the sandwich, I was still eager to take that first bite. It too was disappointing. The quality of the meat wasn't great, there wasn't much cheese, there was an overpowering flavor of pickled jalapenos (on a cheesesteak?) and the bread was definitely sub par. The sandwich was small, soggy, and undesirable. I can't say I tried any of their "famous" Cajun dishes, but after that disappointing attempt at a cheesesteak, I don't think I will be returning. I'm a student at University of Houston and I regularly come to this food truck whenever they arrive. I usually get the Shrimp Basket or the Old Fashioned Cheeseburger. The fried shrimp and burger patties are something they execute very well and they're definitely better than anything you can find in chain restaurants. The "old fashioned cheeseburger" doesn't sound like anything fancy, but I always found the patties to be really juicy and flavorful. The food is always fresh, seasoned very well, and the quality has always felt consistent. My only complaint might be the fries, which occasionally feels very greasy. I'm surprised this foodtruck has a 3.5 star rating on here. The food has always been really solid and the service is really nice and friendly. I'll be coming back later! After having been at school all day, I was happy to see one of the food trucks I see around campus was still open and serving food. I hadn't had anything since breakfast, I was tired, and really just wanted a something--anything--to eat before heading home and completing a 10 page essay. I walked up to the window and asked if I could buy something. They did not really seem interested in selling me food--which was strange, as I sort of had the impression that was the overarching purpose of the food truck enterprise. They were apparently serving a limited menu because they were only open at this time to cater an event on campus. I was told I could choose between the cheeseburger and the cheesesteak. I chose the cheeseburger. I asked if they had fries, to which the unenthusiastic woman (perhaps Miss Patty herself!?) taking my order replied with a sigh, before taking a look behind her and muttering back to me, "yeah." I told myself not to be so sensitive, that surely, this woman wasn't angry with me for wanting to buy food from her. I ordered the fries, and noticing a sign prominently displayed in the window that said something like, "all types of soda and water for sale," I decided to ask if they had Diet Coke. I was told, with disdain, that they didn't have diet soda. I shrugged, asked for a water instead, ordered the fries, and paid. I waited about 10 minutes for my food. When I got my cheeseburger, it occurred to me that I hadn't thought to ask for no mayo. This was largely because there is nothing on the posts menu that said there was mayo, and the woman taking my order didn't brief me on their signature condiments. Still, it wasn't that big of a deal. I didn't need them to make a new cheeseburger. I just wanted a top bun with nothing on it. I didn't really consider it to be anyone's fault. It was just one of those things. Anyway,I told the young man who had handed me the order about my situation, and he got the woman who took my order. After I asked her for a top bun she informed me that she "really wished I had mentioned that I didn't want mayo to begin with, because now she wasn't going to be able to resell that hamburger bun." Seriously. I couldn't believe that. Who knew there was a second hand bun market? Before going back to school, I worked as a waitress at a restaurant that sold hamburgers for 15 years. Unwanted mayo is a pretty standard mistake--even though I took the time every time someone ordered a burger to make them aware of what came on it so that they could ask me to hold back on any condiments or dressings they didn't like. Even still, SOMETIMES mistakes get made. SOMETIMES the customer would get something on their burger they didn't like. NEVER, EVER, EVER in a million years would I have told the customer that it was their fault for not telling me what they wanted, and never, ever, ever, in a million years would I have alluded to a customer that correcting the issue was going to impact the restaurant's bottom line. I was shocked. I told them I would give them a dollar for them to hand me the top half a bun so I could replace it myself. I was taken aback when the woman actually accepted, albeit belligerently, this ridiculous offer of one dollar for a dry top bun. Two minutes, yes, two long minutes later, the young man thrusted a squashed top half of a bun out the window at me. Apparently, the woman had wanted to toast it it. Probably she stuck it down her pants for some special swamp ass sauce. Funny, I thought to myself. She hadn't struck me as someone particularly interested in details like whether or not I enjoyed the food I bought from her before. In the end, I walked away having paid nearly 10 American dollars for the meal. The fries were salty and soggy (they served the burger on top of the fries in the same basket). I could have gotten a better cheeseburger for less than half the price in less than half the amount of time from the McDonald's in the student center, where at least they wouldn't treat me like a pest for wanting to buy the product they were selling. But hey, they water was cold-ish, so that's what the one star is for. The water. I wish that this food truck would stop serving at UH if the people running it think it's such a hassle to serve people food. read more

The Food Patty Wagon is one of the rotating food trucks at University of Houston-Clear Lake. We honestly don't get many good trucks; best one I can think of was a halal barbeque joint. Typically, our trucks skew towards the greasy rip-off types; this wasn't quite the case at the Food Patty Wagon. For $9.20 with tax, you get three Cajun chicken strips, a small handful of fries, and a token piece of garlic bread. The chicken was pretty decent, heavy on the seasoning and a bit salty for my taste but all around flavorful. The fries could have been better seasoned and perhaps fried a bit longer, but I for one can appreciate a nice fluffy fry, especially in conjunction with an already ultra-fried chicken meal. The real star of the show was the garlic bread - while it was kind of soggy, the flavor of the garlic butter was bright and tantalizing; unfortunately, as it was not really a part of the meal, I only got a couple of croutons worth. I likely wouldn't order the chicken strips again - a bit heavy on the heartburn and Raisin' Canes just destroys any other chicken strip I've ever had, both in flavor and in value. Being that they've got a $7.50 burger, supposedly famous Cajun cooking, and meals that actually feature garlic bread as a central side, I could see myself grabbing another bite at the Food Patty Wagon should I happen upon it again. read more
