This is the best breakfast place I've ever been to. I went with my sister and I got the Irish Benedict with homemade hash which was absolutely perfect. The potatoes are seasoned to perfection. This was one of the original "lunch carts" built right across the street in the 1940's. It shows its age but also it's spunk and the folks running it will make you feel right at home. The wait to get in here was way too long for the quality of food we had. I was with a party of 4 and one of us did not get our food with the others. This place was a terrific surprise! Prices are outstanding, the service is excellent, the Decour is very engaging. Downside? Not a lot of seats... We clearly were lucky to get a couple seats at the counter at 1 o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon. Is it worth the wait? We would certainly wait to go there again. We were talked into trying a specialty which is basically a deep-fried French toast smothered with caramel and whip cream and... we got the very smallest portion and easily could've served Three with it as a dessert. The atmosphere was inviting in the way a small old school bustling train car of the 1880's (estimate of what years train car diners where popular definitely unconfirmed). A wide verity of French toast, that frankly was very tasty. Very accommodating when it comes to food substitutions. They automatically assume you want coffee so instead of asking if anyone wants coffee they ask who doesn't, which was kinda cool. Also it was NOT visibly handicap accessible, which didn't effect us but could you. I don't know your story. Also the only real negative to this place which is understandable due to its original use would be the bathroom is out back in a separate building. We used to eat there every single weekday during our short lunch time break for years. I loved the daily changing specials. At on time I thought this was the best lunch places ever. Miss Worcester is one of the few reasons my boyfriend and I return to the Woo. My partner loves their homefries and the large variety of sweet stuffed frenchtoasts (especially the strawberry cheesecake). I'm a bigger fan of savory breakfast and tend to get the Irish breaksfast with homemade corned beef hash, SO GOOD. I enjoy the large variety of hot sauces available too. Coffee is standard and free refills- which hits the spot. We love the food, prices and quirk/ attitude of this place. CASH ONLY. Get there early because line can be loooong on weekends. One cool thing on Sundays is that there is a flea market located across the street that runs 9 am to 4 pm. My band was touring through Worcester and asked a local where to get a good breakfast. He suggested the Miss Worcester Diner. We pulled up, expecting a decent meal of fried eggs, bacon, etc., and left with our minds blown and bellies full. It was nearly impossible to make a decision from the extensive menu (and daily specials!) so we chose to sample a lot of different dishes and share. Among our favorites were the chili mac and cheese, banana split french toast, strawberry cheesecake french toast, homemade biscuits and gravy, mexican breakfast burrito, and the buffalo chicken omelet! OMG. The service was awesome, the owner was friendly and fun to talk to, and we were also pleasantly surprised at how low the bill was at the end of our meal. I love diners, but this one, situated between two strip clubs in a not great part of the city is very small and can get pretty crowded. My wife was the only non-stripper in the place when we stopped here last time and the owner was doing her paperwork at the counter where we were sitting so we had about three square inches of table space to eat on. There are a lot of diner choices in Worcester-- we probably won't be back to this one, although they have some great food selections. The French Toast choices are really something. read more

We opted to meet some people from the Eastern part of the state half way since we are in the Western part. Based on YELP reviews we picked the Miss Worester Diner as a half way point. When we got there, on appearance alone - we were thinking of switching places. The appearance is the old train car that no one has bothered to take care of. The inside appearance is not any better. The tables are small. We could not really fit five people at one table. One member of our group ended up eating there breakfast at the nearby counter. The waitress was nice but this was not the "how may I help you" service.. This was the "what do you want" service. We all ordered breakfast. The best thing on the table was the crunchy trench toast. It was delficous. If you are not worried about calories or fat content this is the meal you want. Everyone who tasted it agreed. The omelets were very good too, but it is an omelet. Nothing special about that. The pancakes were a big hit at the table (really the counter). It was agreed that if you traveling to the Miss Worcester Diner for breakfast not to worry about the nutrition and enjoy the French toast or pancakes. The diner was very crowded, lots of college kids and locals. We would definitely go back, but only with 4 people! Though I'm not sure you can eat this for breakfast, to me, it was more like a full meal plus some. I had to take my pancakes to go and finish it over 2 more sittings. I saw someone order a peanut butter french toast and my arteries clogged just looking at it. You'll have to see it to appreciate it. It gets busy around 1 p.m., especially on the weekend so make sure you go early to get some seats in this tiny trailer diner under the bridge. I had an appointment in the neighborhood in the morning and was craving breakfast foods like pancakes. I looked on yelp and found miss worcester diner. The extensive French toast menu looked amazing so I had to try it. We came around 10:30am and were able to get a table immediately. The restaurant is very small. I think it had maybe 5 booths and some bar stools. They had an open kitchen which I hate. When I see my food being cooked at restaurants I get grossed out so I sat with my back to it. The restaurant smelled terrible. It stunk of fried food. The way you order was kind of awkward. The waitress was behind the bar stools and people were just telling her their order without having her come to the table. It took me a little while to decide what to get. I debated between banana bread French toast, Boston cream French toast which was stuffed with pudding but finally settled on a half order of peanut butter, banana and fluff French toast. The bathroom was outside and you need a key to get into. This was inconvenient but the bathroom was clean. My order of French toast and a blueberry muffin arrived. The french toast had a nice presentation. I had to wipe off the whipped cream to save some calories. The star of the dish was the marshmallow fluff. It tasted delicious melted. I liked the bananas too. The dish was good but not worth the outrageous calories I'm sure I spent on it. The blueberry muffin was boring. The waitress said it came from Sams club. I'm sure it would've tasted better if it were homemade. My biggest issue was the smell of the restaurant. It isn't unheard of in a diner but it was still bothersome enough that I couldn't wait to leave. I would recommend this restaurant to one who likes different French toast varieties. read more

I revisited this place Sunday after about a 10 year haitus.Big improvement from before.Some much needed upkeep and cleaning has been done by the new and current owners.The location is still not so great but once you're inside it doesn't really matter.This is a gem of a diner and found out that it was manufactured just a few yards from where it now stands.Story goes that about 600 diners were built right across the street and this one was built in 1948.Anyway,the food here is very good and so was the service.If you are a french toast freak this is the place for you.They offer at least 15 different variations of the stuffThere are many great selections to choose from for breakfast.I opted for the pastrami and cheese omelet,nicely cooked,fluffy and very satisfying. Great vibes and delicious food! Walking in, there's a row of booths on one side and bar seating on the other- you get to watch the food getting made if you sit on the bar side! My friend and I split an Spanish omelette with jalapaneos, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions and a side of homefries! We also got a hearty honey, walnut, coconut french toast which was loaded with powdered sugar and whipped cream! The whipped cream melted into a delicious gooey mess and the French toast melted in your mouth. It is served with two large slices of toast with a nice crunch from the walnuts hidden between the two slices of bread! The diner had a HUGE menu ranging from pancakes to bacon and omelettes to a variety of eggs Benedict. Most importantly, the coffee has free refills!! Not only can you eat at this classic diner, but the former Worcester Lunch Car Company (or what's left of it-now a flea market) where they built many of the diners across the country is right across the street. I went here on a Sunday with a friend visiting from San Francisco who wanted a heavenly breakfast. Ive seen the sign out front calling itself the #1 Diner in the USA voted by The Learning Channel. Well we learned it wasn't all the hype. Snippy service and subpar breakfast. The diner is extremely run down, dirty and dated. (I get the dated look, if its done with finesse) I got french toast (their claim to fame) and it was standard to okay, my guest hated her omelet. I do have to say they do have a quite fine hot sauce collection to mask the bland taste (lots to choose from) which my friend was excited about after tasting her meal. As other posters have noted, the Miss Worcester is in a grimy industrial section of Worcester. But it is considered a landmark by locals. Though the diner has been in that location for years, it has seen several different owners, and was closed and almost junked some years ago. The current owners did a great job restoring the diner to its classic Worcester Dining Car charm and decorating it with Red Sox memorabilia. The menu is quite large and there is also a white board behind the counter with even more enticing breakfast items. My husband had the polynesian breakfast - eggs with spam, homefries and toast. I had the philly omelette - steak mushrooms,onions, pepper and cheese in a huge fluffy omelette with homefries and toast. The food and service were fantastic. The diner is also opened for lunch. A hipster was cheffing up behind the counter and he chatted us up in a friendly way. He gave us the history and really loves his job.
