Kurt is an artist when it comes to stereos and alarms. This is the third car I've brought to him and he never disappoints. The quality of the work really speaks for itself, but I'll tell you anyway. I wanted to install it under the seat, but he convinced me to go with the cargo area instead. He said it would sound way better, which it absolutely did. It shows his commitment to doing quality work, because it took a lot more labor to install it in the back instead of under the drivers seat. He did not charge more for the extra work. I purchased a car stereo several years ago but it had to be reinstalled because it was loose and wasn't done right to begin with. YEAH! I'm so impressed, although I expected nothing less after having read all the Yelp reviews before I decided to go to these guys. I'm a believer. With some Best Buy gift cards I got for Christmas, I went online and bought a Pioneer Bluetooth double DIN stereo to replace the stock Monsoon unit in my VW Jetta GLI. I also did some research and bought the parts I needed online (dash kit, wire harness, antenna adapter). So all I needed was the install. I *was* just going to head over to Best Buy, concerned I might be taken advantage of at an independent car audio shop (being a woman). But I opted to check around first. Kurt (or Curt?) quoted me a mere $35 to install. Sold. They were slammed on Saturday when I stopped by, so I made an appointment for yesterday and went in after work. My luck, my car battery died as soon as I brought the car in. Kurt hooked me right up to a charger and took things from there. Halfway through, installer John showed me that a separate module was needed in order to turn off the unit automatically. Otherwise, I'd have to turn it on and off manually each time. One site online showed a list price of about $95 just for that one part (they would probably get it for less, though). And it would have to be ordered, so I'd have to go back another day. The guys then said to give them a little time to figure something out. Not long after and John has worked things out so that I didn't need that module after all (did some kind of bypass with the wiring?). Anyway, all done. No additional parts required. $35 even, out the door. It was already closing time, but John was so great to take time to show off the unit to us, go over the features, answer questions. Super job! Friendly service. Rolling out, I immediately told my boyfriend I was going to write up a nice Yelp review. My new stereo sounds incredible! Thank you, Kurt and John, for the fine work. Also, not a single person tried to sell me speakers or anything else I didn't want or need. I brought my own stuff and they were fine with that. What a relief to find these guys I could trust and not have to worry about being ripped off. I will be making some well-earned referrals. Take heed and don't even bother with those other shops. read more

First...a backstory: For Christmas, I wanted to install my "old" enclosed dual subwoofer system with a brand new amp in my girlfriend's car. She's a bass junkie...and I wanted to get it all done right. Stupidly, I went to Best Buy...paid $250, waited 8.5 hours at the Barnes & Noble next door, and then eventually drove away WITHOUT the subwoofers working. The "expert" at Best Buy told me that my brand new amp was, "without a doubt", faulty. I re-ordered another brand new replacement amp from Amazon, and rescheduled an appointment with this corporate wage-slave again so he could install the new one once it arrived a few days later... In the meantime, since I highly suspected the Best Best guy was in fact a moron...I started troubleshooting each component of the system he installed. After finding several flaws in the install job (please read my Best Buy Glendora Review if you want details), I decided to go buy a few parts to see if I could fix the error myself. The closest place to my house was Mission Audio... I pulled in, asked for a small cable terminal that I needed, and he immediately gave me the part, and wasn't going to charge me for it. I imagined the hours of work I had ahead of me trying to troubleshoot the problem as an amateur...and decided to give this professional a shot instead. I explained my ordeal with Best Buy, and asked if he could diagnose the problem. Within about FOUR freaking minutes...this guy had tested my subs, tested my amp (with a multimeter), and tested the RCA input into the amp from the head unit (which was the problem). Best Buy took 8.5 hours to incorrectly install my amp and subwoofers (and incorrectly diagnose the problem with their BS installation)...but THE GUY AT MISSION AUDIO FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM IN LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES. Apparently the RCA connection from the stereo's head unit wasn't outputting ANY sound...because the tap into the connection wasn't complete! The Mission Audio guy tapped into the existing subwoofer's speaker cable line with a clean connection (because it had more signal strength there), installed a high to low converter, ran the line with clean, invisible cables back to the amp under my seat, and within minutes had the entire garage at Mission Audio bumping with BASS! He and his assistant then tuned the amp and bolted it down properly, double checked all the connections throughout the entire car (especially ensuring that the power and ground connections were secure and safe), cleaned up everything...and vacuumed. I had my problem diagnosed, fixed, tuned and polished...in less than 30 minutes. It was clear to me that if I had Mission Audio do the entire job (install the power cable from the car battery as well), he probably could have had the whole thing done in an hour. It is obvious while watching this guy, that he has been doing this for the 18 years he claims he has been doing car audio. His movements are deft, decisive and FAST...and his assistant follows him around the car with a bag of tools...ready to hand him whatever he needs...it's like watching a world renowned surgeon on an operating table..."screwdriver, please...multimeter, please...vacuum, please." For car audio problems or installs, I will never go to any other place but Mission Auto ever again. I don't write alot of reviews, but this guy inspired me to let others know about his shop...I sure as hell wish I knew about it before driving my dumb ass to Best Buy! I wanted to keep the factory 8" screen head unit but wanted it loud, clean, and didn't want to see anything or sacrifice room. And I also wanted serious bass. The result was replacing all the factory speakers with perfectly matched quality speakers, adding a 5 channel amp, and a low profile 12" subwoofer. It sounds amazing. They met my needs and exceeded my expectations. The installation was clean and professional. And the price was more than fair. I'd give 10 stars if I could. It's hard to find people you can trust. When you do, don't let go. You know why small businesses exist? simple. The service is personal and the business owners actually care about you because the customer is their lifeline. Big businesses care about you and your money, but they don't actually care about YOU personally. Best Buy? they're great. Great for buying TV's and refrigerators and computers. But trusting them to touch the insides of your car? I don't know why people would go to them. Those guys working there have maybe what, 6 months, 1 year, heck, maybe 2 years of experience. And they charge a lot because of their Best Buy brand name. People go to them because they don't know that small business like this exist, or they go to the big box retailers purely out of convenience. But mostly it's just ignorance. For stuff like installing stereo equipment, it is so much better to go to a small business with an owner that cares about you and that knows what he's actually doing. I got my windows tinted here. Affordable, but most importantly, it was done well and it was done right. Also got some light accessories installed. I love this place because you know you can trust them. John listened to what I was looking for, offered a few solutions and informed me of the installation options in a no-pressure way, and didn't try to up-sell me at all once I decided what I wanted. Install was quick- dropped the truck off, walked up the street for lunch with my kids, and it was ready shortly thereafter. All of you are smoking crack or I got royally screwed over. This place not only ripped me off by overpricing everything they stole from me too. When I dropped off my truck I had 3 $100 Paris hotel (Vegas) chips in my glove compartment but when I picked it up there was only 2 and go figure the guy who did the job wasn't there he was in Vegas. Strike 1. After I picked up my truck the amps started overheating and shutting off and I made sure I got the right amps for what size speakers I was purchasing. I told the guy I don't care how much it cost I just want it done right. (purchased a JL audio stealthbox with JL sub 10w3 a JL audio mono 1000 watt amp for the sub a clarion 4 channel 600 watt amp for the kenwood mids and highs 6x8 speakers in the doors) so I called and he said bring it in and I'll fix it so I take it in and he retuned it which I had NOT even touched and charged me $20 for literally a 3 minute job. That was strike 2 so a couple months later same problem the amps started shutting off going into some Kind of recovery or safe mode then one day I heard a loud pop and I started tracing out the speaker wire and these cheapskates had nice big expensive looking wire coming out of my carpet but under the carpet they spliced the cheapest walmart looking wire but by then I had moved out of the state so I couldn't take it in and confront the dude which I wanted to so badly because I feel like he totally knew I didn't know that much about car audio and took advantage of me. Do not make the same mistake and go here it is so odvious the guys who work here made all of the reviews it's so so odvious and yes they are that stupid to think ppl would really think it wasn't someone working there or the shady owner this place is so shady I just couldn't believe they were that cheap splicing out every piece of wire under my carpet that is a lawsuit in my eyes cause it took me $500 to have all that crap fixed and done right Strike 3 Fool me once shame on you , Fool me twice can't put the blame on you, Fool me 3 times "F" the piece sign ima bring the chopper and let it rain on you. I'm very disappointed with the service I've received here. I've called in twice to schedule appointments to come in and get my car alarm replaced. Each appointment was scheduled at least a hour in advance. When I showed up I was told they couldn't help me that day. Both of those time a woman answered. I eventually talked to Kurt, this place has so many great reviews I was encouraged. Kurt shook my hand and looked me in the eyes and let me know I would be taken care of. I've been four times now to this place in the past two weeks. The alarm they installed on my car randomly goes off every few hours. To be frank all I want is a working alarm...and that is all I asked for..I specially said I want the simplest alarm. Kurt said, "ok I take care of you" he said it'll be $150. I asked if he had anything less expensive $150 seems pretty steep for something basic. The place down the street has a sign that they do them for $99 but whatever this place has good reviews and Kurt seemed liked a straight shooter. So tomorrow I'll go back for the 5th time and hopefully leave with a working alarm. I'll drive past the place that says alarms $99 and I'll be bitter knowing I paid $150 to a man that could really care less. He said , "o sorry she must've not known we couldn't fix it today". This is on two separate occasions now. The receipt says all sales final.. Tomorrow I'll just ask if he'll take the alarm out and give me my money back. He showed me some nice stereos that were more than I wanted to spend. I told him I was only looking to spend about $100 for everything. To my surprise, he had a used stereo that looked great and had the feature I wanted most: AUX cable so I can play my iPhone. Just as I was about to see if he could save the stereo for a later installation, he said he would do it immediately for $100 and it would only take 40 minutes.
