The best cue in the area. We are such BBQ fans that we did barbecue road trips from Memphis to Arkansas from Texas to Louisiana (BBQ oysters!) and of course the Carolinas. Dad was veteran as well as his 5 brothers and my aunt so I am delighted to support their Mission. Our only problem is what to order, everything is delicious and we have never had a problem with our orders. Please, please, please open one in the North Hills. A year ago at the Robinson site we were told McCandless Crossing was a good possibility. Last week Cranberry and McKnight Road were likely. Teasing us as we dream of Mission BBQ in the north needs to happen. Maybe Ross Park Mall? Then the Cheesecake Factory would be my second place restaurant after Mission. Once you go inside, you're warmly welcomed and we were asked if we had ever been there before. Since we hadn't, one of the workers came around and explained the whole menu to us which I found to be very helpful. I ended up getting two meats with two sides and thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The meat was tender, juicy, and had a really good smoke flavor. At the tables, you have 6 different BBQ sauces to choose from along with an additional Alabama sauce that you can ask for as they store that behind the counter. We were there during lunch. Nothing really special, and an okay portion for the price. It was quite fatty and did not have very much flavor. There are some sauces you can use to boost the flavor. It was cooked pretty well though. The coleslaw was quite refreshing and also came in a decent portion. It's creamy and crispy. Honestly quite good and I would recommend it. The cornbread is a tad dry and nothing remarkable but it was free so no complaints. They originally said they were out of the peach cobbler and gave me a brownie instead. However, a server then found me, and gave me freshly made peach cobbler for free halfway through my meal. That was super sweet of them. And, that cobbler was DELICIOUS. The best thing I had from this place by far. The peaches were super fresh and cooked through until caramelized. Little bits of brown sugar. Absolutely perfect and warm. Must try it. The first time I had mission was in Austin, TX and it was so good so I was surprised and excited to see they opened up here in Pittsburgh. I guess they don't advertise so I didn't realize it has been open since this summer. I ordered take out and had the brisket sandwich and got the 2 meat platter (smoked turkey and pulled chicken) for hubby. His platter came with sides so got him greens and the Mac n cheese. Their Mac n cheese is soooo good I should've doubled up on it but the greens were actually tasty too. Cornbread was blah - kinda dry. The staff was super friendly and the line moves so fast. What's for dinner? (Friday: March 19, 2021) Jalapeño sausage, baby back rib, brisket, mac & cheese and green beans from Mission BBQ! Yum! The jalapeño sausages are good. However, I do feel that I need to heat it up a little bit more when I get home to get to the 'done-ness' that I'm looking for! The Baby back rib was tender, meaty & tasty. The brisket was dry & not so great. I ordered the moist brisket but I believe that I wasn't given it. Actually, they almost missed giving it to my entirely. They always confirm what you ordered by opening the boxes of food before they bag it. She showed it really fast but I noticed something was wrong & asked her to open it again. She did & that's when it was missing. Maybe that's why they gave me the wrong brisket. ‍ The mac & cheese is pretty good, surprisingly. Sometimes, when they're really busy, they try to hurry up and heat up some mac & cheese on a pan; which really takes away from the consistency & taste. But, they didn't do that this time.
