Honestly and a honest review, my expectations exceeded what I actually encountered from here. Thought based on the many other reviews that it would be different, but was not. Ordered the baby back rib platter with the string beans, macaroni&cheese, cornbread, and medium drink. Think it was $15. My ribs were tender and good size but the taste was not great at all, was too damn salty and If your wondering they give you 3 little barbecue sauce to try. Memphis, original, and think St.Louis. Was so disappointed I forgot, sorry. The string beans were okay but again, salty. The only thing that I have to say was a little good was the macaroni and cheese. Just didn't finish it. Cornbread was no kind of sweet at all, just smelled like it. Almost forgot, the sweet tea drink I got was none of just that. Actually tasted funny. Mission just tell ppl it's Iced tea for future reference. Overall everything was too salty with pretty much no taste and just too damn high for that performance. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food we got here on a recent take-out excursion. We ordered a few things to try out a sampling. The best thing here was the ribs. They were tender and moist and plenty flavorful. Ten ribs will set you back $21 so they are not cheap. We also ordered the pullEd pork sandwich with the Carolina sauce. This was dry even though it was toPped with the sauce and the cole slaw. Not a family favorite. The 1/2 chicken we ordered was seasoned like blackened chicken And was dry - not a great combo. The surprise was the baked beans (which I do not usually care for from other bbq places ) which were saucy and flavorful with pieces of brisket thrown in. Fries were ok. Service was patient and pleasant on the phone especially since I have never ordered from here before. My only complaint in this regard is they asked "what time will you be coming to pick it up?" I said 10 minutes. They said, ok we will just put it together when you get here then. When we got there it took at least another 10 minutes for them to put it together. This doesn't make too much sense to me. All in all it was a pretty decent experience and I would order the ribs and baked beans again. read more

Can never go wrong at this place. I'm not a usually beef eater but the burnt ends omg it just does something to me. My family and like the food here, it taste close to home made as possible from the Mac and cheese to the cheesy potatoes, beans and greens. They are always so nice the customer service here is out standing l. Hopefully it remains that way. Wife was in the mood for some bbq and seeing that this place is close by and just opened, decided to give it a go. Also, she heard some amazing things about Mission as well. To me, it was just ehhh. I've definitely had better bbq elsewhere, but also have had worse. My favorite was definitely the ribs. It really was fall of the bone and seasoned well. I felt the chicken I received was way too dry and same with the salmon. The salmon was dry and tasteless. It looked like there was seasoning on it, but didn't really taste anything. The pulled pork was pretty standard. Didn't wow me. The sausage was actually pretty decent and I would get it again. Now for the sides - I didn't really get to eat the cornbread, but according to my kids, it was delicious. Green beans & bacon - tad salty, but complimented the dry salmon. Mac n Cheese was also pretty good. I will most likely be back when we are in the mood for BBQ again. It's just so close! read more

This is a new Mission BBQ in Springfield. My husband and I stopped there for lunch. We've had mission bbq catered before, but have never eaten at the actually restaurant. We would 100% go back! They were training new employees, but had signs that said "first shift" so you were well aware. There was also an experienced manager behind monitoring and answering questions to make sure everything went well. There were people walking around the seating area offering free brownie samples and cleaning up as we finished. Very impressed with the service! I had a chicken sandwich and my husband had chopped brisket. Both awesome! We also had green beans and mac and cheese as sides. My husband hates green beans...and loved these so a definite win! Mission BBQ just opened in Springfield. I typically wait before trying new places so they can sort things out, but I needed some BBQ. We arrived about 1PM and the places was quite busy. After a short wait, I ordered by food. The cashier pleasantly explained their food. I ordered a short rib and brisket combo. After ordering, you wait at the counter for the food. It took them less than a minute to get my food out. They have fresh iced tea to drink, which is nice since the soda fountain stuff isn't great. The brisket and ribs were perfect. Their sauces are good to very good. They have 6 bottles on the table so you can get what you like. I had the cheesy potatoes, which were very good. It also came with an apple crisp thing that tasted really good, but I had to take that one home. Too much food. The corn bread was decent, but I'd prefer it to be more moist. Service was excellent. Several staff members checked up on our table which is rare around here. Service was fast, we were in and out in 30 minutes or less. I'll definitely be back, likely later this week. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it opened. I'm not a huge BBQ person. I ordered the brisket meal. I made sure to request lean. There was a ton of brisket. I got fries and Mac n cheese as my sides. Everything was yummy! The fries were fresh. I wasn't a huge fan of the cornbread, but I'm not a big cornbread person. My dad got the ribs and beans. He said they were very tender. One thing I really liked was that before they bagged my order, they opened the containers to show me everything and make sure it was correct before they bagged it. Not sure if this is a constant practice especially during busy times. I was there at 3pm. I did find it a little pricey, $28 with no drinks and since it was just a meal there are no leftovers. read more

Our first time ordering from here! I've had mission barbecue in North Carolina! The brisket was amazing, tender not overcooked and juicy! The chicken on the bone was very juicy, the jalapeño sausage was flavorful! I liked the casing on the sausage! The macaroni and cheese wasn't bad! liked the cornbread! The ribs were horrible! So often people use this as forum to complain, but I want to use it to recognize the amazing staff at this location. I visit weekly at minimum and am always greeted by name by at least two employees and they even remember my regular order and sauces. They always smile, they are always polite, they make small talk while you wait and exemplify what great service is. They should be commended for all the work they do and the above and beyond effort they put in to get to know their customers. I used to be a fan of the KoP location and still am. However, I tried to give the Springfield Pa spot a chance. First time I brought my husband 2 hours before closing we got a loud and rude "we're closed" walking through the door. Today we arrived 3 hours before closing. Doors were locked. Maybe supply chain issues prevailed. Either change your hours of operation or buy enough supplies. Big disappointment. read more

An overdue review for a great place to have some family bbq. Their food is tasty - I'm no bbq pro, but I did live in NC for several years so have had my fair share, and I think this compares well. The pulled pork sandwich and ribs are good, the smoked salmon is actually a really good find, and I recently enjoyed the smoked burger for the first time. Lots of good sides to choose from, too. The sauce variety at the tables is also a nice feature. Plenty of seating and it's always been clean and well maintained. Their staff is consistently thoughtful and exceptionally polite and kind, especially the manager Matt - as a family with small kids, we've had them spontaneously bring all our food out to the table upon seeing that our hands were already full, stop by to check in and end up chatting about a Lego toy, and even gift us some extra cookies. Initial thoughts: Veteran Parking out front, very nice. Also the outdoor section looks like it's going be the place to be come spring and summer. Place smells amazing when you walk in. I got the pulled chicken with two sides: cheesy mashed potatoes and green beans. The pulled chicken was SMOKEY! Really good, tasted like it had been smoked all day. Mashed potatoes were decadent, green beans were good too.(Suggestion: could use Cajun rice or some kind of rice as a side.)
