This is a solid sandwich and I consider it one of the basic meals I eat at least once a month. The service at Mission BBQ is always top tier. Melissa is very sweet and is always sure to be friendly and answer any questions you may have. As for their sauce, Memphis Belle is my favorite sweet sauce and my favorite with a little kick is KC Classic. The interior of Mission is rustic and homey, a spot many people sit in and enjoy lunch at. I have done some sit in meals and many many togo orders. I will continue to be back. Eh! I've definitely had better bbq in the area. This was actually my first time coming here. We came with my work group for lunch for January birthdays and this was the place of choice. You walk up and order and they'll call your name when it's ready. Plenty of tables for seating and staff walks around to see how you are doing and to clear the table. Only 1 fountain machine was working which backed up the drink area given the time of day and crowd that was there. I ordered the chicken and brisket to share. My friend also bought the blueberry cobbler for the table. The quarter chicken was so overly cooked and dry! The brisket was also dry. Couldn't eat these and they went to waste. Bleh! I have eaten at Mission BBQ a few times before and rarely strayed away from the pulled pork with fries and beans; that is until this visit. It may have been on the menu before, but I had overlooked that they also have an 8 ounce smoked cheeseburger! I've never had a smoked cheeseburger before so I had to have it while my much more disciplined wife ordered a salad with chicken which she likes a lot. The cheeseburger was so good--smoked perfectly and tasty yet not greasy like many burgers. The fries are similar to five guys, but actually better, and the portions were huge. I donated my side of beans to my wife who enjoyed them very much. Counter service was friendly and efficient as always, and the ambience is very pro first responder and military. Mission has several good things about it. Food was good and meats had good flavor, without the need for sauce. The sauce Sampler on the table is great to give you an array to choose from. The sausagenwas fantastic. Ribs had a nice flavorful rub, and the chicken was tender. This place also does good community things and holds service men/women in high regards. It's funny. I've had two different sets of visitors come from Seattle and they've both said Mission bbq is among the best bbq they've ever had. I had the ribs. They were smoked and tender, and didn't come sauced. Good ribs, if just a little lean for my taste. I tried the brisket sandwich. Wow was it tender! The sides (Mac and cheese, cornbread) were solid. I actually wasn't a big fan of the bbq sauce. Too heavy on the cumin. Overall really good bbq especially for a chain, at a good price. The meat was fat free, it had a beautiful bark on it, it was smoky, & I was in heaven. For a side I had the Mac & cheese which was excellent too. I don't like BBQ sauce so sometimes the meat I get from other places is too dry without sauce. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious, moist and juicy even without sauce. The mac & cheese was very good as well. When ordered, I was a little confused by the combos labeled as XL and XXL. Sure, there are many types of BBQ flavors out there, but the reality is that there are only two types of BBQ restaurants that serve them. Corporate run chains and the Mom & Pop's. Mission BBQ fits squarely in the corporate category. The place is beautifully decorated and with plenty of southern charm, complete with first responder knick knacks and trinkets. Without doubt, their support of the US troops are unwaveringly American. Come in at noon for lunch and you will find yourself standing at attention and saluting the flag to the familiar sounds of our national anthem. I've been here a few times already, but today I learned that there is not a rib sandwich on the menu. Blasphemy! Sure, I could have ordered a half rack, but there was still work to do in the day. Instead, I opted for a pulled pork sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese. The service was quick, as it usually is with any turn-style restaurant concept. After getting my fountain drink (Pepsi products, yuck), I found my way to a table outside. I wish that I had spent more time paying attention to the menu. The cole slaw was piled up so high that it dwarfed my pulled pork beneath. I like cole slaw, but there was so much cole slaw on my sandwich that it made my bun too soggy. Needless to say, with six different regional BBQ sauces in front of me, it was time to get to work. The Florida Gator Bite is a sweet sauce. Judging from the contents of the container, it is either really popular, or it was seldom refilled. The bottle an my table, and the one nearby, were both nearly empty. Very mild, but it was tasteful. The Memphis Belle sauce was just as sweet, but with a little more flavor than the Florida Gator Bite. Definitely not spicy. The Smoky Mountain sauce from the mountains of West Virginia was...sweet and boring. Hard pass. The KC Classic finally found a peppery taste that I typically prefer. I had to try a little extra just to make sure I got the sweet taste from the other three samples out of my mouth. The Texas Twang was equally peppery, but ultimately tasted a lot like A1 sauce. Seems kind of strange for BBQ flavor. I've had authentic Texas BBQ. This was not it. Finally, I got to the Tupelo Honey Heat. Here is where I was most disappointed. It had the most kick but I really didn't care for the flavor. After sampling all of the flavors, my mouth was tingly, sort of like when you stick a battery on your tongue. This is when I came to the conclusion that all of the sauces were too runny and watered down. Applying them after the fact to a sandwich instead of being cooked in seems counter-productive to me. Was the restaurant bad? No. It was impeccably clean and the staff was super friendly. Service was quick because they looked to be overstaffed for the size of the lunch crowd. Giving credit where it is due, I actually really enjoyed the macaroni and cheese. Will I be back? Probably. My co-workers like to eat here a lot, so it's inevitable. As I always tell them...There is a mom and pop BBQ spot just up the street at the next light. Quite honestly, it's a little more run down...but it literally *smokes* the flavor of Mission BBQ. read more

A very "meh" experience! I got the pulled chicken entree portion which comes with a complimentary cornbread, and my partner got the brisket and pulled chicken with mac and cheese. While the chicken itself was pretty moist and tasty, it's a bit hard to justify coming here when the price is so high for such a tiny amount of food.
