Ate here last Friday? Came in right before closing for a quick sandwich. There were a few people there, but they weren't busy. It took them some time to figure out I was waiting for service. Ordered the sliced brisket sandwich which is about 50 cents more expensive than the chopped brisket and baked beans. They had it ready in minutes. Brisket sandwich was good except the bun wasn't toasted and the meat was very fatty and the bark was so thick that it was difficult to get down. The baked beans were terrible. I've had baked beans out of a can that were better. They exchanged the beans quickly for slaw which was delicious!!! Tried to get a drink, but one of the employees was taking her time refilling the sears craftsman cabinet so I had to wait for her to finish before getting a lid, straw and sweetener. I've worked fast food restaurants before. A normal person would have offered to get the customer what they wanted out of the cabinet, but she took her time. Then I had to go back and ask her for sauce, because I was given none and there was none on my table. Maybe she thought I was being a pain in the ass, and u could tell she was irritated until she realized there really was no sauce on my table. As I left, I went to the ladies room and passed a young man with some cleaning supplies coming out of the ladies room. He didn't have a mop and there were no signs saying wet floor. I went through the door and I lost my balance and almost fell. There was an overwhelming smell of bleach and every part of the floor was wet. I should have turned around and left, but my bladder was too full. I shuffled to the stall and almost fell about a dozen times. One of the scariest moments of my life and I've done some pretty scary things. I escaped unharmed, but traumatized and let the manager know what had happened while the fellow who had left me in that mess looked on. We use catering services at work every few months. On time and taste great. We get pulled pork, brisket, and chicken. Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, green beans, beans, biscuits and a variety of sauce. This was our first time eating here and so glad the "other psuedo bbq restaurant" we tried eating at only served ribs two days a week, because if we hadn't have left we wouldn't have experienced such Fabulous Food. The dry rub they use is amazing especially on their ribs and pulled pork because it creates a little crust. We had three meat combo's with a add on rib (came with 2) while everyone else just gives you one. Brisket, Pulled Pork, Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, Ribs where all very flavorful on their own so I ate the different BBQ Sauses from a spoon because each one had me wanting more. Rarely do I ever eat sauce on BBQ and this was the case however their Six different sauces and Vinegar had to be experienced. They know how to do Collard Greens and the Cornbread completed the meal. My only regret is there's not one in Oklahoma City, Now my Mission is going to be seeing how I can eat more before returning home from officiating a wedding on Carolina Beach. read more

I came to Mission BBQ in Wilmington because I wanted something different for lunch while in town. We have a Mission BBQ in Fayetteville but I have never been. I heard about the fall off the bone ribs and I have also heard that they are overrated. Personally, I know I make the best ribs in NC and it really kept me form going to Mission because I thought it would be a waste of money. While at Mission I did not come for the ribs (surprise). It was lunch time and I had to return to work. I went with the salad and added chopped chicken on it. I figured I would give them the ultimate test because if you mess up a salad, you don't deserve to be open...it's chopped up veggies for goodness sake. I also got a side of baked beans. First things first, I was greeted by the friendliness most helpful young lady (forgot her name). She was so patient and helpful when I told her this is my first time at any Mission BBQ. She helped me with the menu and how the process worked. I got my try and upgraded my drink to support our veterans. As I sat down and was preparing to eat I was thanked by another nice young man for being a first timer. He gave me a coupon for a free sandwich on my next visit as thanks for being a first timer. I was shocked yet so very thankful. Killing me with kindness is the way to keep me a returning customer. They earned a great review before one bite of food. On to the food. The salad was very fresh. All the veggies were fresh. The chopped chicken had a good flavor without the sauce. When trying the different sauces I found the Texas sauce to be my favorite with the chicken. The beans had Avery good flavor. They did not have many brisket chunks and that was disappointing but did not take away from the flavor of the beans. As I was completely my meal. The nice young man (Noah) came to check if I enjoyed the meal. He then surprised me again with a complementary banana pudding. Listen, I'm not the biggest fan of banana pudding. We had it so much as a child it is one of those things that do not appeal to me anymore. I accepted the gift with gratitude and decided to eat a few spoon fulls to show my appreciation. It was so good that I at it all. The bottom line is that this was pretty much the highlight of my week in Wilmington. I will add this to a mandatory go to spot when I work in Wilmington again. Ate here with my wife, sister, and her current SO, and while the food was okay, it's a bit pricy for what you get, and there's some room for improvement on some of the things I saw. My wife and I ordered a triple-meat platter with brisket, pulled chicken, and jalapeno & cheese sausage, with sides of french fries and macaroni & cheese. College Rd. location a few times but am just now taking the time to write a review, for whatever reason that may be. One of my favorite places to eat in Wilmington! The food is always good! The flavor of the bbq is great just alone to eat but when you add bbq sauce it makes it even better. The sweet tea is great! I ordered the pulled pork and brisket with Mac and cheese while my partner had the same with the addition of pulled chicken and fries. The meats were VERY good. My partner cooks smoked meats as well so it's rare that we find a BBQ place that's up to his standards. They also have their own sauces and we were able to try all of them and pick our favorite ones. The pulled pork is so tender and the portions are enough to leave you happily full. My 2nd visit I got to try the banana pudding, normally I'm not a huge pudding fan but this dessert is heaven. We were on vacation from Texas and wanted to try this place. My son is in the Army and I loved their mission, it really tugged at my heart. We had a party of five and ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a brisket sandwich, meat plates with brisket, pulled pork, jalapeño and cheese sausage, Mac n cheese, and seasonal veggie greens. EVERYTHING we ordered was top notch! The GREENS WERE PHENOMENAL!!!! I could've just had a meal out of those. While e were eating, Kayla came by the table to check on us and noticed we didn't order any fries. She told us we needed to try them and brought us a side of fresh cut fries on the house...sweet!!!! After having eaten at the Jacksonville location several times my experience at this location just wasn't as great. It wasn't bad by any means it just wasn't as wonderful as I am used to. I ordered the brisket and so did my friend. Each of ours were extremely fatty. Neither of us are the type to complain so we didn't say anything. Another thing I like about the Jacksonville location is they have a staff member that walks around and checks on each table... This location did not have that position- or maybe they do but no one was doing it that day. When we were leaving the staff eagerly wished us a good day. I would still recommend this location to somebody. I just prefer the Jacksonville one. read more

I found both the pork and chicken to be too salty. While flavor was okay the salt came through too much. The brisket was tender but not much flavor and I would opt for the leaner version. Wife had pulled chicken and pork and I had brisket sandwich, love that they ask if you want dry or wet/fatty brisket, I got wet/fatty and it was delicious. Peach cobbler was good too, I tasted my wife's food it was good....only thing I would do different next time is ask for fries without salt as a bit salty but still good.
