I have seen a few YouTube videos about this buffet. So I decided to check them out for myself while in Wilmington. The inside of the restaurant has a nice homey feel to it. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by a waitress. She asked if we had a preference as to where we would like to sit and she got our drink orders. The buffet was small but it had a lot of variety. There was so much southern flare. There was fried chicken, baked chicken, pigs feet, cabbage, rice, sweet potatoes, and even tunips, just to name a few. There was a dessert bar that had a few cobblers and other sweets. I enjoyed my meal. You can tell that this was a spot that many of the locals frequently visited. There was a steady flow of customers. This is a really nice spot to visit if ever you are in Wilmington NC.

Casey's did not disappoint with ots offerings. The ambiance was a step into the past with spreads of coke bottles, Pepsi cans and posters that remind me of school days. I glanced around for the Dick and Jane series of books! Amazing food was served on wooden chairs and inside plastic booths. The service was there to clear away used plates and make room for several trips back to the buffet. It is a road side stop ypu must consider on your travels, especially to Myrtle Beach. Just 45 minutes aways!

    Love them southern greens!!

First time here. I'm in the area for work and I like to try local cuisines and this was recommended. So first the collard greens, black eyed peas, fried cabbage, and the green beans. Was just delicious as hell!! That's what I look forward to when I eat southern food!! The fired chicken was majorly over cooked, but their pulled pork with their bbq sauce was bomb!! The fried catfish was okay and their hamburger steak was decent as well. Overall I say this place was good quick stop if you love them southern greens!! The service was polite and honestly I don't like being overwhelmed with "you okay sir" or "how are you"!! I can see you looking to make sure I'm okay but not shadowing is great. The location was really off the beaten path from where they could be striving but not bad. Inside was good and it gave the vibe of old school southern cooking, but this place could use some updating. Overall great spot and would definitely be back if I'm in the area!! PS the sweet tea was PERFECT!! Really well mixed !! Wasn't over powering on the sweet side!!

Let me start by saying this restaurant is not for everyone. If you LOVE good ol' fashion country cooking...then this is the spot! It's not fancy, but the food is delicious! I haven't had pig feet in YEARS! The chitterlings were okay, but it was mostly hog jowls mixed in. I went up to try dessert and they put out some fresh chicken so I had to try. Those wings were awesome!!! The service was wonderful. The tea was sweet. And the locals love it!!! A must try if you're passing through.

The server was very welcoming and attentive. There was a wide variety of southern fare for a reasonable price. There were a few concerns to note: the food was not replenished in a timely manner, so it appeared that some of the food was dried out especially the desserts. The food stations could be cleaner. There are food spills all around. The floor is stained and soiled looking. The plastic plates are worn and look like dishes for school children. The iced tea was great. The meats (ribs) were tasty. The fried chicken and the catfish were delicious. Even though, I do not prefer catfish. I didn't like the Mac and cheese. That said, the server provided freshly prepared fish and desserts upon request. With some revitalization this place would be great. BTW -- the old crumpled newspaper on the glass in front door of the building looks scary and like a harborage for critters. All said, they serve authentic, down home cooking like pig feet and chitterlings , so you should check for yourself.

I don't get the rave reviews. The food was mediocre at best. Nothing stood out. I feel for Wilmington if this is the best buffet in town.

Ask the Community - Casey's Buffet and BBQ

Is the BBQ vinegar based/Carolina style?

That's the only sauce on the table. Traditional NC bbq pork.

    Do they still serve oxtails?

They did when I was there in April.

    Sensation farmhouse restaurant?

Don't waste your time! Not good! Save your money! Highly don't recommend..

I was not in love but I think there are some caveats there because I am not the typical customer. First, we appear to have come right at the height of their dinner rush. It took a while to get seated. The hosts told us to sit at the bar and then the bartender kicked us out of our stools because we were waiting for a table and apparently the bar stools were only for people who were eating, so we had to go find a bench. When we did get seated they put us at a really weird high top in a separate room when there was a much nicer low top available in the main room that we switched to. I got the sense both that this place was kind of hectic and that they didn't think they needed our service. But then as we were eating it cleared out all of a sudden and we were the only people left at like...8 pm. Our server was...accetptable. Not rude, but kind of short. Compared to the lovely personable service we got at other places in Wilmington it felt...I dunno, New Yorky? Then there was the food. And here comes my biggest caveat. I am pescstarian and do not eat chicken. So I ordered a shrimp po boy. It was not good. Not bad. But not good. Especially for the price which, honestly, competed with the prices where I live in DC. Every other person around me ordered chicken. My husband ordered chicken. He really liked his chicken. So obviously, this is a place where you get chicken (if the name didn't make it obvious). Had I ordered chicken I likely would have enjoyed my meal a lot more. But if you have shrimp po boys on the menu, endeavor to make them decent or take them off. Also I subbed a side cesar instead of fries and it was an afterthought. The fries themselves were excellent. If I ate chicken and came back to Wilmington I would maybe give this place another shot but as it stands, nah.

Located in a neighborhood setting with several small businesses nearby, it has that authentic local feel right from the start. Parking is on the street, and when you walk in, you're greeted with a cozy diner-style atmosphere that feels comfortable and familiar. The staff are warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which sets the tone for the whole experience. The menu is packed with soulful favorites--collard greens, cornbread, mac and cheese, fried chicken, chicken wings, burgers, and even a shrimp burger. There's a wide variety to choose from, so there's something for just about everyone. The standout here is the fried chicken. It's phenomenal--crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and full of flavor. The chicken wings are just as impressive, seasoned wonderfully with great flavor and cooked up juicy exactly the way you want them. They also offer a great selection of desserts, giving you the perfect way to finish off your meal. If you're feeling a little adventurous and want something local, flavorful, and made with care, slide on by and give them a try. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

We wanted to sit by the window but the tables were set for four people. The interior was welcoming and bright. It was a bulgogi-style beef with American cheese, pickled slaw, onions and a side of togarashi (a seasoning) fries. My husband ordered the same thing. It was delicious and a cool twist on a cheese steak sandwich! Others enjoyed their food (shrimp and grits, local lettuces, Bulgogi cheese steak, and I forget that last food item). While service was good, it took almost 15 minutes before the shrimp and grits were served. Did someone drop the ball in the kitchen? We were not sure what happened, but our friend's meal was comped. Thank you. This is a place I would return to, either to dine outside or near the window.

On more than one visit, I've waited 15 minutes or longer before someone seemed to notice I was there. I've found that the best way to get helped is to go to the register first and tell the cashier what you'd like.
