Their sermons are Scripture-based with pragmatic guidance that is useful in today's complicated world. Great community and teaching but horrible worship songs. What happened to great Christian song writers? Where have they gone? Its as if the worship songs are taken right off Christian radio. There's no rhyme to it, no chorus. Its so bad that most of the time I sit out the first 30 minutes to avoid the music. The songs are virtually un-singable, and when worship is going on i look around at the congregation and see that most are NOT singing. The worship team, by virtue of their microphones blaring, cover the fact that hardly a soul in the congregation are singing. read more

I don't want to be rude but I will be real. As representing Christ it doesn't seem like they're very reverent. My teenage daughters pointed out that the pastor talks a lot about himself. I personally didn't agree with the fact that he mentioned other pastors in other churches in a negative way. We are all the church right? People!! Not just the building and what they have to offer. The music is great but limited .... There's no alter call service, no healing services, or testimony services. It's cookie cutter to for the modern day lifestyle.... One hour! Have a coffee ! hear a great teaching and your good to go. The pastor Landon does have some amazing illustrations and breaks things down. But he said Catholics are Christians and that is not right. We need to remember we will be held accountable for every idle word spoken. The smoke and bright lights remind me of clubs and concerts.... If the Bible says old things pass away and all things are new the church shouldn't look like the world. We're supposed to be unspotted from the world .... And the pastor talked about liking a rock band it just gives people the idea that they can continue to live in their old way. Anyhow no judgement just love! If believers believe they shouldn't be offended but grow. read more

Landon was kicked out of his dad's (James MacDonald) church as a youth pastor in Illinois, because of his toxic tendency to be verbally abusive. For short, he was NOT pastor qualified to begin with to have been hired back in September 2022 (1 Tim. 3:2-7). His dad and brother were also kicked out, for the same reasons. There is absolutely no bible passage whatsoever that allows for disqualified pastors to be a pastor again, evidenced by the fact that when the percentage of disqualified pastors re-offending is extremely high. Speaking of, during Landon's bible study this past Tuesday (8-20-24) night, he publicly slandered someone named Brad out of anger in the congregation by name (33:11--33:29), who ironically happen to be there and ended up asking Landon a question, where Landon proceeded to publicly mock and belittle him (38:36--38:45). For short, the same toxic reason he was kicked out of Harvest Bible Chapel (Illinois), is continuing at Mission Community Church. He should have never been hired, though it's very common for those in disobedience to tolerate disobedience. FYI, he's an amazing teacher. However, talent is cheap, character is everything. read more

We attended Mission Community Church as a family for several months, but we will not be returning again. Recently, Pastor Mark sent out a warning on facebook, where much of Mission's attendees follow his page: "Do not bring children to this weekend's service. It's for adults only. Take your kids to childrens' church." The problem? My son has high functioning autism, and cannot abide the noise and activity in the kids' service. He comes with us, covers his ears during the music, and sits quiety through the sermon. No problem, no distraction to those around us. So, we didn't go. Apparently the Pastor had some complaints about barring children from the service, and his response on facebook was this: "I am not here for children. I am here to talk to adults. That is my responsibility." How very, very sad. Downright depressing -- that the leader of a chuch would absolve himself of his responsibility to at least half of his congregants. Are our children that unimportant? Are they that expendible? When I called the church to ask to speak to a member of the church leadership about this incident, the woman who answered the phone was very defensive and evasive, despite the fact that I was calm and very polite. She asked why we didn't just attend the service anyway. I told her it was because Pastor Mark specifically told us not to. She sounded upset by that answer. I asked again to speak to a member of the church leadership, and she said, "I will pass this message along to them. IF they choose to call you back, it will be within the week." Two weeks later -- and you guessed it...no callback. We are now attending Central Christian Church. When I called to ask about their policies for special needs children and whether children were disallowed from the main "adult" service, a member of the church's staff called me back within an hour. I was assured that our children, regardless of their needs, were welcome at any service any time. We will definitely be going to Central from now on -- a church that welcomes congregants of all ages and abilities. read more

This probably won't be the church we finally settle at, but it was a contender. It's a huge church and that wasn't my aim to go to a mega church. I did feel a bit lost in the crowd. I'll start off with the good things. Pros: 1. Great worship - Love songs to God 2. Son loved the jr high group and feels so connected. 3. The sr high group was okay for my daughter, but she was slowly making some friends. 4. Variety of life groups that meet during the week so you can better connect. That goes for jr, sr high and adults. 5. There seems to be a good value on the Bible and growing in your faith in Christ at the tween through adult stages of life. Cons: 1. Worship time too short. It's only 3 songs. I think 5 would be better because I see worship as a time to prepare our hearts for the message and to focus on God. Usually by the end of the 3rd song, I'm just starting to focus. Songs 4 & 5 solidify this, but few churches will play this many songs in worship. 2. The jr & sr high meet times were at 2 different times Sunday morning, so if you have kids in both areas, it means staying for double services, which I didn't really want to. I live just a little too far to drive home and then come back. 3. Wish there was a morning life group that met during the week because my husband does not want the kids and I going to life groups in the evening as that's our family time. 4. It's such a large church that if you do not attend life group, you won't get to know people and truly connect. If they had jr & sr high times at the same time as the adult service, as well as a morning life group during the week, we would be going to this church. But, that is not the case. We tried for a month, but it needs to work for all of us, not just 1-2 people in my family. read more

This was a beautiful church building in Gilbert. The bathrooms are so impressive. Everything is so clean and new. Almost thought it was a convention center and not a place of worship. Don't know anything much more about the church itself...just came here for a conference to hear Mark Driscoll speak. read more

I love Mission church so much... We've been going for almost 2 years now it's done amazing things for my family. The CR ministry is like no other! The church has been through some major challenges in the last year and yet God has revealed his plan for Mission. Since I don't seem to see any current reviews, I'd like to add one to 2017. My parents quit going to Mission based on a bad review and I would genuinely like to give an opposite/current review. Pastor Joel started a series on Heaven a few weeks ago and I want to say his perspective and sermons have been amazing. I've gone to Mission for several years, as well as various churches in the Gilbert/Queen Creek/Chandler area and in my opinion, I LOVE Mission and all the great things I'm seeing happen at this church, in the last year. Pastor Joel is an amazing Pastor and his messages have helped bring me to a place where my relationship with Christ has grown and also inspired me to read and search out more about Christ than I ever have. With that, plus the unbelievably friendly staff, Celebrate Recovery program and a search for a place I can belong and grow, I find this a place where I could definitely settle and make it my forever worship place. I would recommend and encourage a visit to Mission!! You won't regret it! read more

We have been attending MISSION for several years now - on, then off, then on again. We initially left MISSION thinking we would find a church home that would better suit us, but after several visits we realized no other church taught the word of God better or more profoundly than MISSION. We know now that God sent us on a mission to visit other churches, so we could with pure heart spread the word that MISSION is the place to be. For us, MISSION has had a profound impact on our lives. For me, I have become a better person, wife, mother, friend, and believer. For our children, they love MISSION and learn so much!! Just the other day my 5yr old was singing "My God is so big, so strong, and so mighty - there is nothing my God can't do". AWESOME!!! And then just yesterday he told his dad "I'm really smart" and his dad asked why and he said "because I learn a lot from church"! You know when your children are singing songs and crediting their intelligence to church that MISSION is preparing our children to be stewards of God. Love it!! Pastor Mark has a gift - he will enlighten you, he will make you think, he will make you laugh - a lot, and he will teach you the word of God as it was intended... through the Bible. No fluff, no frills, just the word of God and how it applies to our lives today. read more

What a wonderful group of kind and generous people. This organization truly does make it their mission to serve the people of this community through the Open Arms program, their Mercy Ministries, and all the youth programs. My family has been truly blessed to be a part of such an active church and especially engaging children's, junior high, and senior high youth group. read more

Best church I've ever been to. Includes everyone and Is very welcoming. Non denominational so it just teaches from the Bible which is really nice! Provides free water! It's more of a modern church which is great because it makes the gospel as relevant as possible. read more

Our family started going to Mission last June and fell in LOVE with it! From the moment we walked in we felt appreciated and needed! We have been more connected to Mission than we were at the last church we attended for over 10 years. Mission has helped our family work on doing justice, showing mercy and walking humbly with our God! Our kids love their youth pastors and all they do for them and we enjoy the marriage ministry and how it has helped us improve our already great marriage! Our family has called Mission Community Church our church home since moving to Arizona in 2009. Before we moved from Illinois we visited and went to Mission on a Sunday. Immediately we knew that this is where we were meant to be. I am so thankful that the lead pastor Mark Connelly is who he is and has dramatically changed the life of our family as well as the children's ministry who has excited my son at church and Josh in the Jr High Ministry who has made a lasting impact in my daughters life. This church is full of regular, real people who demonstrate love, acceptance, grace and mercy. The choice to join and serve mission is one of the best decisions I've ever made. read more

My husband and I are snowbirds from Iowa. When we come to winter in Arizona, Mission has become our church. We have been so happy at Mission that we have brought others and Mission has become their church. Sunday we brought visiting friends (March 13) We were blessed with a wonderful sermon from the youth minister. Our enthusiasm was dashed when we said to our friends, "Wasn't that a great sermon"? Quietly they said " We could not get past the knees". I realize this is the youth minister speaking but we are NOT the youth. As wonderful as the sermon was, this is something that needs to be addressed. We were embarrassed. Please have the ministers dress appropriately. Please know your audience. I love this church and want only the best for it. The youth minister has a great career in sharing the word in the future. I hope this will be received positively and used for positive change. read more

Serving on the "Guest Services" team is the highlight of every other Saturday afternoon for me. I have the chance to give back to my "Mission Family." Pastor Mark teaches from the Bible and explains what God is telling us through His Word. There really is no other way because without Him we are nothing. Every since joining this church my relative has become like a member of a cult. I am a Christian, I have been baptized but I don't go around wearing a t shirt that says CLEAN. Listen, we want to encourage people to get baptized, not call all those who are not yet baptized "dirty". Everyone is not on the same time scale and I think subliminally putting in others minds that they must be dirty because they aren't at the same point in a path that the lord has for them is against the goal here. Shaming people isn't the way to Christ. I went to this church to see what it was about. I rather liked it myself being already baptized and a follower of Christ since 2005 I found it invigorating but I found it very impersonal for the new converts. My relative since joining this church has become the most judgmental person I know as well as hypocritical. My relative is harshest with her own mother. She seems to shun people instead of grow as a person. I am not saying mission church caused her to be judgmental but I think if the church was more personal instead of a show stage maybe they could work on issues in peoples lives more. I think a lot of young people like this church for the fact that it IS impersonal. They get the credit, get the t shirts, the belonging mentality, and get a loud booming show without having to belong to only Christ or look deeper. She is sucking more of my family into this church and the study of scripture is a wonderful thing but I think again with all the hats and t shirts and selfies it just seems like an show and cult following. I don't need a t shirt to give credit to my relationship with Christ. read more

I wrote to the church about a month ago about having family problems with my son and his family and was looking for some guidance but never received any not a call or email response or anything I still attend chaulking it up to the Pastor problems they are having but still I thought I would get some kind of response and if it happens again where I am looking for help and get the same response I will probably be looking for a new church home to attend but I really like the church and would hate to leave but I would now we have to see how the new pastor will be hopefully no changed in the way the Bible is taught that could be a deciding factor also but we have to give him a chance he must be good to stay at one church for so many years Thanks for reading and please give this church a chance read more

We started going to Mission about 8 months ago and the only way I could describe it then was it is absolutely "refreshing"! So so refreshing! The pastor and the people are just real - yet never preach a watered-down message. I leave every Sunday with a full tank spiritually. They continue to challenge me and provide practical ways to grow closer to God, my family, and my marraige. My kids actually get UPSET if we miss a Sunday. That should say something right there! The generousity in all of the outreach ministries is beyond words. I can't say enough about the blessing it has been to have found this place to worship and serve. Thank you Jesus! read more

This church has gone down hill and fast. Don't like the direction the new pastor is bringing. So sad.

Where is the anointing? No one raising their hands to The Lord......, No clue about Messianic Worship ,..... Not even a mention of His Holy Feasts. and this service was on Holy Week.....Jewish new year.....Yom Kipper.....Time of Redemption,,, Yes Our Jewish Jesus Honored His Fathers Feasts.....very uncomfortable chairs, you have to squeeze in to sit , too crowded......fire hazard. .......seats so small a child can't fit in . If you had to get out in an emergency good luck! No room to open Bible on your lap, no elbow room. No Meat of The Word...just baby milk...They should be teaching by now, not sitting just sitting there. Wake up sheeple! Great music group too bad they aren't allowed to enter in to THE HOLY OF HOLYS AND ALLOW THE SONG OF THE LORD TO PROPHESY.... that is not in their agenda!. We go to church to worship G-d not man. We give to missions and to the needy and have for over 35yrs, but this was a very disappointing service. (and you wonder why your disc messed up during video showing?) also there was a bad smell like bad strong perfume smoke in the air, that was very noticeable during your mission commercial. Sure don't blame Kristi N on her post. More people should speak up. Can't imagine holding a child on lap in those tiny chairs. and we are thin, can't imagine taking our tall family there , we would be stuck! your leader says " your comfort doesn't matter" gee I heard comfort ye comfort ye my people....that's fine take it as you like folks, just don't want some one else going through what we went through...oh yea also church hard to find ...not a good SIGN in more ways than one....careful where you spend your money.....be sure you are tithing in the right ministry,,, perhaps God is calling you to your own...
