We did the Battleship room. Not the most well laid out Escape room. Some of the puzzles did not work correctly which took away from the fun and excitement. The three of us completed the room with 12 minutes to spare but were never told - or given a clue - that it was over and we won. So we spend an additional 10 minutes looking for non-existent clues. I had a group of vent at this business a while back and was very pleased. Everybody had a great time! Jason, the owner, was friendly and personable and made everybody feel very comfortable. Before going to Mission escape rooms, I had never even heard of this concept. It is very unique way of having a fun group of event that is interactive and creative. When I walked in I should have known it was going to be bad. I came with my sister and her son and the people at the desk seemed "off" and didn't greet us very warmly. When we were showed our room, the Sasquatch Room, we were under the impression it was an easy room as we had a 9 year old with us. It was NOT. The proctor rushed through the description of what we were supposed to be doing so we started off confused. Because of that, we had to ask for clues and help every step of the way and half the time we couldn't hear what the person on the loudspeaker was trying to tell us and they wouldn't repeat themselves. The young man with us was bored when we couldn't figure out what passed for clues and the two of us blood pressure was through the roof because the "clues" made no sense at all. At the hour mark I just stated: that's it we're quitting, this is terrible. The staff didn't acknowledge us as we left and just let us walk out the door unhappy, and I didn't even know that there was supposed to be a picture taken until I came here to write this review and read other reviews. I really try to not write bad reviews; I really try to find the positive in every place I go and focus on that, but this...this was awful. I didn't pay, my sister did, but if we weren't so mad about the experience I'm sure she would have asked to be refunded, this was without a doubt the most wasteful use of $100ish dollars I've ever been party to. She told me she'd done other escape rooms before and had a blast, so it certainly wasn't the concept. I'm very certain that I'll never try one again, and, if you're looking at reviews to decide if you should, certainly don't go here. Loved the experience at Mission Escape Rooms. We did the new Sasquatch room. Brought me back to the 80's era with the decor and items inside. Awesome job by the great staff, Rachel & Sarah. They helped with the 2 clues we asked for. They are deserving of a huge raise. This place is so much better with just 50 minutes than the 60 minutes at Escape Time. Don't go to that location. Great place. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The rooms are cleaned and well maintained - a tad on the small side but can accommodate groups of 8 or so. Unrelated to the quality of the escape room, I've never gotten out of the room the two times I've been Anyhoo, they have a voucher at the end if you do a google review. Get the ice cream one. This review is for the UFO room. The check in process was quick and simple with the touch less waiver sign up being very efficient. We were brought into the room within 5 minutes and the employees were very professional. The negative review is only for the room itself. The best way I can explain it is that the room just isn't very enjoyable. It just wasn't very fun. It's a pretty small room with basic decorations/set pieces. It was pretty hard to get into any sort of rhythm because there wasn't a good story to follow. It was just a collection of puzzles that didn't connect to each other and were just there to spend time on. Also, the music was just too loud and really took away from the room at certain points. The sci-fi music might of been ok at the beginning but the other movie themed music just took you out of it. The website said this was a new room so maybe they are still working on the overall theme... Anyways, location of the building is good spot and it was nice and clean. But in my opinion this room is just not worth it for the price and the 50 mins. On a side not we appreciated the game master for allowing us to go over the 50 and finish since there was no one scheduled after us. Thank you! read more

What a terrible experience at the Annapolis location! Our time slot was 7:15-8:05 on a Wednesday night. The group before us was running late so we were not allowed to enter our room until after 7:20 because the staff allowed them to run long. At 7:47 they told us that our time was up and pushed us out because the group after us (8:15 slot) arrived early. The room was also not set up properly. The Legend of the Sasquatch room itself was good but the staff & not having the full experience that we paid for was terrible! I would not recommend the Annapolis location. We have had amazing experiences with the Waugh chapel location. read more

We had a blast participating in the Christmas Escape Room! It was a lot of fun and very challenging. We really liked that we had an unlimited number of clues because we were all novices when it came to escape rooms. They provide a medium sized locker for each group and ask participants to lock up their personal items and cell phones (they don't want anyone sharing the answers of the escape rooms). They also have restrooms that you can use prior to entering your room. We were laughing, puzzled and stumped before finally being victorious! We will definitely be back! read more

What a fun and interesting experience! This was my first time going to an escape room so I didn't completely know what to expect. I went to Mission Escape Rooms with a group of about 8 women. We did the Alice in Wonderland themed room. It was fun trying to figure out the clues to move to the next task. It was quite challenging and we didn't escape on time but we were pretty close. We definitely had to ask for hints because we got stuck quite frequently. I'm looking forward to returning and trying a different themed room. This is a good team building activity or something fun to do with a group of friends or even as a date. read more

I love this place! I have done two rooms with two different groups and both were great experiences. The only bad thing (not quite enough to dock a star, I guess) is that I checked in on Yelp and got a discount but I had already paid so the staff wouldn't let me retroactively use it. This was the least exciting room and my family and I were less than thrilled. This is a one room "adventure" and the only thing you do is unlock boxes by solving clues that make absolutely no sense or walk into another persons game by accident through an adjoining door. We asked to leave the room early because the person giving the clues provided little to help or delayed their responses which took up more time. After leaving the room early and expressing the disappointment, we were just told to have a nice day. $120 down the drain. Don't waste your time. read more

I loved the atmosphere and theme of this escape room! The decor inside this place, from the ceiling to the walls and everything inside the room itself, was exceptionally designed to create a true *experience* when you step inside. I loved the attention to detail and the whole vibe of the building. I was super impressed by the way things were put together. We did the "museum heist" room, which had a very Ocean's Twelve feel to it. We eventually solved the whole puzzle and escaped, but barely-- with only like 1 minute to spare. This room felt like it would've been impossible to complete without asking for a couple clues. We were completely stuck for the first half hour and started feeling pretty defeated, because we had already looked through every single object in the room and couldn't find a key- or a path to finding the key. It would be nice if they could add more puzzles to the beginning, or add more objects to the room, or alter existing clues or something to help people get the ball rolling. Once we started solving things and figuring everything out during the second half, it was a lot of fun! Difficult, but fun. I can't wait to try their "sinking submarine" room the next time I'm in Annapolis! read more

I was so excited to try MissionEscape Room Annapolis. I've tried close to a dozen other rooms previously so I had high hopes. From the website it looked like it would be fun and entertaining. It wasn't. First of all, it's a pandemic so there was only two of us in the room so the price was almost $100. But we understood, rather be safe than sorry. And we knew that escape rooms are typically made for 5-8 people due to the difficulty. We did not solve one clue in the Once Upon A Crime room. Here are the issues we had: 1. Every clue was dependent on unlocking the previous clue. There was no way for one person to work on one clue while the other worked or looked for other clues. That wasted a lot of time. 2. There was no timer in the room! The game master just kept periodically announcing how much time was left but that wasn't as helpful as actually seeing a clock. 3. There was one pen and only a half sheet of paper to write on. Again, multiple people can't work on clues at the same time. This also wastes time. 4. We were given 50 minutes. To the minute. There was no one waiting in the lobby for our room. Every other room I've been to offers additional time to solve the room if there is no one waiting for the room. Additional time is usually a courtesy but not here. 5. This specific room was supposedly a 7/10 difficulty rating. My bf and I both have advanced degrees and the clues themself weren't hard but they weren't clear. Even when the game master came in and explained everything, there was no AHA moment. We were just like "Yea that doesn't make sense." I would not return to this location and don't recommend this room. It wasn't even fun because of the frustrations. read more

BUT the room was very well put together and was so much fun. Rachel, Lisa, & Aiden were amazing too! We had four people come in on a Sunday afternoon without booking in advance. We were able to get into a room right away and the employees even helped us in selecting a room out of three available rooms at that time. We solved about 8 puzzles for the room that we did and had a blast. The were multiple different types of clues of varying levels of difficulty. Some clues involved moving items around in different ways, some word riddles, some unscrambling letters, and even a code to decipher a message. The difficulty level on the website was a 7.5/10 and I would agree with that. The clues were each challenging in their own ways, but not impossible to solve. We did have to ask for a few clues on three puzzles that had us stumped though. Overall, we will all be returning for sure. read more

I researched this placed to see if kids would be welcome. Although I saw they were - NO! DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS! Mine were lost. Between me and dad, plus two kids shouting out random ideas, trying to be heard, we were so lost. This place is for a group of adults. What a waste of $100+ bucks. I wish this company would clearly state the age range for the difficulty of each room. And wow! So expensive! My hubby was like, MAYBE that was worth $40. Not worth the time or money. Don't go here! When I heard that there was a Poe-themed room, I had to try it. I've grown up in the Baltimore area and have always been a Poe fan. That brings me to issue #1 with this place: What was advertised as an escape from Poe's study had almost nothing to do with Poe. There was a printed copy of "Annabelle Lee" in the room, and two of the clues had to do with "The Raven": this was the extent of the references to Poe made in the room. Either the designer of the room knows jack about Poe, or was just fantastically lazy. #2: The room had no immersive backstory. I've done several escape rooms before this one, and each time there was a story that explained why we were in the room and what our ultimate goal was, aside from solving the puzzles. There was no such thing here. We were walked to the room and told something vague about helping Poe with some of his work, but having to get out of his office first. Come on! It's Edgar Allan effing Poe and that's the best you can do?? There are so many awesome ways one could use his stories to create a compelling and immersive experience, but again, the designer either knows nothing of Poe or was incredibly lazy. #3: There were more "red herrings" (i.e. clues that were not necessary to solving any puzzles or escaping the room) than there were actual clues. I get having one or two, but the sheer number of them made the room seem cluttered and poorly put together. It also seemed as if they were there to distract from the fact that some of the more technology-based clues were barely functional, which leads me to issue four. #4: The tech didn't work. There was a desk that was supposed to light up when magnetic objects were placed on it. We placed the objects in their correct spaces...and nothing happened. Then we wandered around looking for other info for the next five minutes and got nowhere, so we asked for a clue from the employee watching our room. Our "clue" was that we needed to fiddle with the objects on the desk, moving them centimeter by centimeter until they were just right, and then it lit up. Then, there was a clue involving a typewriter, but when we typed the correct sequence, nothing happened. We spent 10 minutes gathering around the typewriter, trying to figure out what we were doing wrong. We decided to again ask for help from the employee watching the room, and she told us that what we had been trying over and over was the correct sequence. We tried it many more times before it finally worked. In both cases, we wasted time because we did the right thing, but the technology didn't work, AND because the employee watching didn't step in and tell us we had solved the clue correctly, but just needed to fiddle with the components until it worked. If the tech doesn't work the first time, it shouldn't be in the room, period. Moreover, the employee was either not watching us as closely as she should have been, or just didn't step in to correct for the technological faults in the room. Either way, it's bad practice. #5: Bratty Kid. There was a 6/7 yr old child in our room with his family, and he was a holy terror. He bumped into me multiple times, pushed my SO out of the way to get past him, kicked at a member of his family and almost knocked him into me, rolled around on the floor, and complained loudly the whole time while his parents pretended like they couldn't hear or see him. I'm a first grade teacher, and it was all I could do not to pull out my teacher voice and make the kid sit down and be quiet. I know that Mission Escape can't make parents do their jobs, but they CAN impose an age limit on rooms. No 7 year old was going to find that room possible or enjoyable. He should not have been allowed in in the first place, but I'm sure Mission Escape didn't care as long as they got their money. This leads me to my final issue: money. #6: cost. This was my fifth escape room experience in the Baltimore/Annapolis area. In every other location, I've had a fantastic time, and done so for under $18. Granted, that's with groupons, but I'm really pissed that I paid literally double what I paid at an awesome location in Nottingham the weekend before ($32 for two people at Escape It, vs. $58 for two people at Mission Escape) for a terrible experience and a poorly-put together room. If you enjoy escape rooms, don't waste your time or money here. Go to Escape It in Nottingham or Escape Adventures in Finksburg instead. You'll pay less money, and have a lot more fun. read more

Did the hansel and gretel room. We made it about halfway through the room. And we're unable to finish. We spent 25 minutes playing with a number combination lock. When the staff came after our time had run out we were told that the lock is very temperamental and that you have to push it up before pulling it down. No one tells you this in the beginning. The staff there told us that even they, as well as other customers, have had issues with the lock not operating correctly. In my past experiences with escape rooms, staff explains how a lock that customers struggle with is supposed to operate.
