5/5. This place is so fantastic and accommodating. I agree with some of the other Yelpers that it's a little dumpy, but they definitely have a decent enough selection (at least as far as snacks and beer and more typical corner store fare is concerned) as a great last minute go-to. What really makes this place is its customer service. I was taking my friend out to Twin Peaks who'd never been, and we decided we wanted to enjoy some cider up top. We headed over to this shop about 9:35/9:40 PM just as the owner was closing up. He went to the trouble of opening up again just for us to get our late-night drinks and munchies! And laughed off my adding random things to our purchase last minute. I'm not in this part of town much, but when I am, will make sure to support this business again. read more

I live five minutes away and wish this was an actual corner store/liquor store. They only have a bunch of chips, soda, candy and malt liquors. Super nice people but so continually under stocked, just literally more empty shelves than products. Weird hours, closed Sunday. It being such a busy location you'd think they'd expand hours, get more inventory. There's almost nothing else nearby or a 15+ walk. I don't know how they stay open like this. read more

After being falsely accused of stealing a pack of gum, my friends and I will never go back to this store. We made purchases with Debit Cards which clearly showed we payed for all our items but yet the owner was rude during our purchase process and he followed us outside after we payed. He accused "One" of us of stealing a gum and threaten us with calling the police if we didnt give it back. We told him we didnt steal anything but he continued to point at all of us , harassing us and saying he has video footage of it. After the 3 minute conversation, I went back inside the store to ask for a refund because I do not want to support business like this . He said he couldnt give me a refund and when I asked why he said "I dont know". I asked his daughter who was also working with him at the time and she also said she couldnt give me a refund for no apparent reason. The store started getting busy so the owner asked us and this other other man of color to leave the store after he took a picture of us. As we were leaving the other man claimed the owner did something racist to him as well but I didnt ask the details. Overall this was a terrible experience and I should've just stayed thirsty before I went and bought from this store. read more

This is my neighborhood market where I go to get munchies, and other things, like emergency cat food. I stop by on the way home almost every day for a bottle of water, and something to munch on. I like to go here, since I am on a first name basis with the owner. I am a firm believer in frequenting my local businesses. Many different sodas (which I don't drink anymore) are available, as are chips, etc. A small selection of fresh fruits and vegetables are available too. Booze and cancer sticks can be had as well, if you are into that sort of thing. And various ice cream too. He also has a variety of phone cards. And I think there's even some movies in the back. Basically, it's your typical mom and pop store where the owner knows everybody, and knows what they buy and what they like. This store has undergone many ownership changes, but this one looks like it's a keeper. read more

My friends and I went to the store to buy snacks and once we finish paying we leave the store. The owner of the store follows us outside and starts falsely accusing us of stealing after we paid for our things. Then we went back to the store to get a refund for our stuff because we were frustrated and in shock that someone would accuse us of stealing. The owner of the store denied to give us a refund and we were confused why he denied us one. He was very rude and disrespectful with us. I will never come back to this store ever again. I think this one of the cheapest neighbourhood grocery store in the area. They keep everything. I have been regular customer of this store and i am so impressed so i have decide to write a review and put some photos of the store which owner didn't mind. They now carry India groceries and food like Swad Ready to Eat some indian snacks and cookies, and various different spices. They also got selective indian frozen food now. Everytime i walk into this store i see something new been added. now I can pay my PG&E and AT&T bills right here. They started carring muni fast passes. Amazing variety of wines at really cheap price. They also have some clothing items like sweat shirt and hoodies. Their ATM is cheapest in the neighbourhood - only $1. Their coffee is way much better and cheaper than coffee from the next door coffee shop. Nice and Friendly family managing the store very effieciently. they are nice and very respectful always. What a hole. This is why I hate Yelp. Look, I get the Excelsior isn't Pacific Heights... I live nearby. But if I am doing a Yelp search to pick up a bottle of wine for a friend's party, this place shows up with its 5-star reviews. Believe me: there's no wine here I would even consider worthy of marinating a chicken with. Disgusting. It seems that asking for a $10 bottle of wine is far too snobby for a place here that's listed as a wine merchant. No corner market dive should ever earn more than three stars theoretically, given the quality of competition from all dimensions. I don't care how nice the owners are if I can't get anything close to what I was sent here for by Yelp. Maybe if I was looking for Pop Tarts packaged in 2002, I'd be more positive about this place. But it's no more than it is: a convenience store dump where you might get a smile from the owner before you have your own face blown off by a shotgun in a hold-up. read more

The best neighborhood "corner" store in the area. The owner, Jesse, and his wife are very friendly and helpful. My partner became a fan of this store before me and told me of the very cute owner, Jesse. I must agree. His boyish looks and friendly manner are a WIN! Very reasonably priced merchandise. I mainly go there to buy cigarettes as I'm waiting for the bus. And speaking of buses the store is at a crossroads of MUNI lines. The 14, 49, 44, and 52 all stop either right in front of the store or across the street. Another WIN! He also has other items or services besides the regular neighborhood market things available. As Nick A. posted you may pay your AT&T and PG&E bills here. MUNI passes can be bought here. He also has an ATM in the store with the CHEAPEST FEE IN THE CITY...$1. Yet another WIN! Jesse and I were talking recently and he would like to expand the store But of course that costs $$$. Therefore, I implore you to frequent this store. read more

This place has a great wine selection, beer, plenty of munchies, essentials for the kitchen, and the owners are the nicest folks in probably the whole neighborhood. I'm no wine expert, so I can't attest to the previous folks complaints, but I've lived in the Excelsior, but this store has one competitive advantage to the other one that's about equidistance. It's all flat walking to get to this store versus three blocks up a steep hill to the other store, so the laziness in me gets you my business. The staff are always friendly. Their charges for using a credit card under $10 are a bit steep. I really don't come here for much but the occasional junk food or lottery scratchers, but I will note that they seem to have always "Just run out," or "Forgot to order," the 20oz Diet Cokes and Coke Zeros. I was understanding of the difficulty of maintaining overheard as a mom and pop liquor store, but when they're always out, I eventually stopped trying. I must acknowledge that they do have a nice variety of It's It ice cream sandwiches including some of the harder to find flavors, which is awesome sauce. As for the rest of the store, much of the layout is haphazard slapped together set of food aisles with little to no visual appeal. I don't expect the standard too higher for mom and pop stores, but again, I don't go there for the aesthetics. Although I wish there store were open a little later, I've shown up on more than one occasion to find they'd already closed, and I thought it was still pretty early for them to be closed. read more

I live in the neighborhood and this has been my go-to place for 6 years. Jesse and Sheila, the owners, are warm and welcoming and go out of their way to hep. They also have mail delivery and bill pay services no place can match. The store is one of those places visited by people getting on or off the bus, those passing by, or regulars shooting the breeze. Prices are better than any corner store in the neighborhood, too. read more
