Only ordered via Door Dash but Mission Sushi & Wok has established itself as one of my go to's. They're quick (almost always less than the estimated time), they have a variety of foods from sushi to Chinese to Korean dishes, & great combos if you're feeling indecisive or want a bit of everything. Their combos are pretty unique because they mix in some of their more special rolls with their basics so it's not your typical Cali/tuna/salmon options. My favorite is their Spicy Bento: 4 pieces of their hoppin' jalapeño roll (warning: this roll is ACTUALLY spicy, not some creamy spicy mayo or mild jalapeño that you often get but that's personally what I like about it), 4 spicy tuna roll, 4 pieces spicy salmon roll, spicy edamame, & a salad. read more

My boyfriend came on a weekend evening for dinner. It was pretty empty, so we were quickly seated. I ordered the udon noodles with shrimp tempura. The udon noodles tasted pretty good! The broth was the perfect level of saltiness. I really liked the fish cakes that were in the udon! I also enjoyed dipping the shrimp tempura into the broth - they tasted really delicious together! Not having enough time to dine in and go back to work for our lunch break, I got the food to go. They have a good selection for lunch, and the food was prepared relatively fast. The service was okay, nothing spectacular. The food was also subpar at best. The noodles were bland and oily, and the beef was chewy. It was like I was chewing gum at that point. Please don't go here if you don't wanna be surprised... and the surprise won't be a pleasant one. I tried several dishes here - as I thought my choice of dish was wrong. However, pad thai, sushi, maki, korean dish, all of them are just sub-par and kinda disgusting. My pad thai tasted truly vinegary and I could not finish my meal. I would rather choose to go to stop & shop across the street and get sushi there than going here and wasting money. read more

Yummy little Asian "fusion" joint in Mission Hill! They have a variety of Asian dishes on menu (Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese), but the dishes themselves aren't necessarily "fused". Cute cozy interior, clean, and friendly staff. I popped in for a quick bite to eat, and ordered the Mission pad Thai. Done right. Noodles QQ, sauce well-balanced (not too sweet), moist, chicken perfectly cooked, and good portion size. Only suggestion would be to add cilantro, bean sprouts, and thinly julienned carrots. Mission Sushi is an option for Japanese food in the Mission Hill area. But it'll forever remain just an option. Came here with girlfriends simply cause it was a walk away from work for them. Location is prime but the pricing is subpar. Rec: + Pad thai: At $10.95, it's steep. I can get that for $8 at Rod Dee in Fenway. Taste was decent though, plenty of fresh vegetables, with shrimp. Nothing mind blowing. +This place is for you if you're into the fun rolls. They try to go all creative with their makis and rolls but prices start from $11.95. The bad: - Entrees that are not sushi start at $10.95. I thought you're supposed to cater to the college crowd? Sushi Station is the way to go for sushi which is only 2-3 blocks down-their lunch and dinner specials are far better deals than the ones here. No alcohol. Price for individual makis and rolls are similar but they frequently have groupon offers. Sushi station is far more popular with the college crowd. read more

I would not even bother coming here. I came here twice and it's enough to make me never want to come back ever again. The sushi is below mediocre. There is too much rice compared to the fish. Not to mention, the rice is dry and hard. The prices are okay for normal good sushi, but not worth it for their sushi. Their dumplings are okay. Not terrible, but not memorable either. I tried their curry rice dishes and I did not like them. It could be personal preference, depending on how you like your curry, but I did not like theirs. I understand why people/college students would come here though. It's cheap and it's the only sushi restaurant close by. The next closest sushi restaurant is Symphony Sushi, but that is closer towards the Northeastern side. It is pretty inconvenient for MCPHS students. read more

As you walk in the door you're greeted by a friendly hostess. Maybe I came at the wrong time or perhaps it's on Monday but its quiet and there is no one else at the establishment. There are many smaller tables for two set up. The kitchen is all the way in the back. I love the color and decor. The bright orange and green gives it a fresh vibe to the once dark place. The food is ok. It's a very weird mix they offer here. I opted for regular sushi. It want something to rave about but it's good. Unfortunately I felt the price is a bit steep, perhaps it's because it's in Mission Hill and you just didn't expect to pay this price or such a higher end price. This was the closest sushi place to my friend's mission hill apartment, so we decided to give it a try during lunch. First of all, it is located in a sketchy neighborhood so you always have to keep your head up in the surroundings. During lunch time, there are a lot of students and professionals around, but at night time it is a different story around this area. My party of three didn't have to wait at all for a table. The service was okay, nothing outstanding. I found the lunch menu deals to be priced very reasonably, but the quality of food just changed my impression in an instant. Even being a budgeting college student, these cheap prices are not worth a revisit at all. Food was truly disappointing: -2 roll sushi combo (shrimp tempura [$1 extra] & sweet potato roll): This combo comes with a side salad of a miso soup. I chose the side salad with sesame dressing. The dressing was fine, but some of the salad leaves were wilted. Kind of disgusted and I was not willing to sort through all of the leaves anymore. Each roll set comes with 6 pieces. The sushi was MEEH. There is so much rice on the outside that I was full after 4 pieces. The shrimp was dry and disappointing, definitely not worth the extra $1. The sweet potato roll also had too much rice on the outside. As a result of the extra amount of rice, the pieces were almost uncomfortable to eat within one bite. -original pad thai: If you look at the yelp pictures of this pad thai, you will find that the noodles are white, not like a normal pad thai. The strange look coincides with the BLAND taste. It almost tasted like there was no flavor to it. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! My friend had to drench it in siriacha to get some flavor and to make it edible. -mission pad thai (w/ chicken): The pad thai noodles were a different color than the original pad thai. I wasn't able to try this dish, but I assume that it was equivalent with the other food. If you are college student that is looking for food deals rather than the quality of food, I guess this is a place for you. But honestly in my opinion, it is not even worth your money. Our party comprised of 7 members. We found that the service was very slow even when the restaurant wasn't busy (there were just about two tables occupied including ours). We weren't welcomed by the staff who didn't seem to understand the dynamics of service. What I want to greatly emphasize on, is about the approach that: this one individual had towards us. I will be calling him the manager from here on, as he seemed like one and I guess I am right.  To find out when our drinks will arrive; I rose my hand to grab his attention. He looked at me, unresponsive and was reluctant to come by. When he did, I expressed my concern about the drinks being late and mentioned that we were a party size of 7 and would much appreciate it if the service could be faster. The tone with which he responded clearly stated that we were being taken for granted. In the next 1.5 hours that we were there, we noticed that this manager walked to every table checking-in with customers. He even took orders politely and addressed questions with humility but never approached us. After the cheque was cleared, he came by to clear the table of the plates but didn't utter a single word. We stood up and left. Our presence, experience and comfort was never accounted for by this obnoxious individual. Now this makes me wonder. Was this manager biased and discriminating? There can be no other explanation for this, can there be ?  He was disrespectful, arrogant and didn't value us as customers. He outrightly ignored us. If you think you could become a victim of this, then Mission Sushi isn't a place for you, atleast when this manager is around. Also, the manager probably should revisit school and get lessons on hospitality with a FREE SPIRIT and understand that conditions DO NOT apply. Else he just isn't fit to be a manager in service/hospitality sector. Before I end this, I do want to say that the waitress who serviced us did an exceptional job! However, we are certainly not going to return. Negative experience is of one level while discrimination is of a greater one and cannot be tolerated. read more

I've never had their sushi so I won't give one star because maybe it's good. They have a variety of Japanese and Thai food choices so props for options for the pickier eater. They randomly have Viet iced coffee here, too (don't get it). Came here for a quick work lunch and within 10 minutes regretted it. We were both in a rush - my colleague had to catch a flight (we gave ourselves a reasonable amount of time!). Service during a non busy time wasn't good. Nice doesn't cut it when you walk in and have to wait a long time when it's not busy! There was only one table occupied by 6 people and every other table was empty - it took us 5 minutes to be seated and another 7 minutes or so before we could put drink orders in. Food took awhile to come out, too. If you walk in, maybe you should just seat yourself and anticipate that it's not gonna be a quick lunch. I will say their drunken noodle had a good flavor but didn't taste like drunken noodle. It was closer to a pad see ew flavor! No heat to the dish. Lunch portion was a decent size and around $10. Great service and delicious Asian food in a cute ambiance! I came here with a group of friends and they were nice about getting us enough seats together. I ordered the nutty pad thai (as opposed to the original pad thai on their menu, which doesn't have as many nuts) which comes with shrimp and chicken. My friends ordered udon Noodle soup, Wow chicken wings, Thai basil (rice bowl with meat and veggies), coconut curry entree, and drunken noodles. I am totally ordering the drunken noodles next time! It was nice that they came out with all our food at the same time. Onto the food. The chicken wings were delicious, sweet, and crunchy/crispy. I can see why people rave about it! My pad thai had great flavor and lots of chopped peanuts (obvi if you're allergic to nuts you may not want to order this) and it came in a big portion. The thai basil was just okay, but I think my friends really enjoyed the drunken noodles and udon Noodle soup. We stayed for awhile and the waitresses were so nice and came and filled our water even though we chatted for like 30 minutes after we finished eating. Had a craving for sushi but didn't want to dine out. Luckily this place delivered and I decided to try it out. I ordered the Philadelphia roll, the fiery salmon, tuna avocado and a seaweed salad. Delivery was just on time we waited about 40 minutes which is average. The sushi came with an ample supply of soy sauce and wasabi. I thought I was going to be disappointed but it was delicious. The staff were also friendly and was happy that they would check up on me randomly, rather than frequently like other places. So I clearly was not leaving my apartment for food during this monsoon tonight, and as a college kid who's graduating tomorrow, I have nothing but expired eggs in my fridge. So I went on Foodler and clicked on sushi, and Mission Sushi & Wok was the first restaurant that popped up! After some price comparisons with other restaurants, I went with a tuna and avocado, a salmon and avocado and a shrimp tempura roll. The total came to $17.75 (minus delivery fees) so for three 6-piece rolls, that's an awesome deal in the city! It took a little over an hour to get here, which was expected, and I was very impressed! They were still a little warm and were pretty decent sized rolls, definitely worth the money. Would definitely recommend this if you're in the area or looking for a cheap but really good delivery option! read more

Came here with my sister on a busy Saturday night and it was pretty good. They have sushi and other Asian inspired dishes. Service was pretty good as well the waitress was friendly and prompt despite it being busy. The restaurant is pretty small and there is limited seating. We order crab Rangoon to start and it was very good, we also got some sushi and I got the miso eggplant with brown rice. This dish is why I am giving it a 3 when I read the menu the dish sounded amazing! Miso eggplant, brown rice and bok choy! Yummy veggie heaven! Right? Wrong! The eggplant was inedible unfortunately (insert sad face) the miso glaze was amazing...! But the eggplant itself was SOOO mushy I couldn't eat it the texture was really really off putting. We got scorpion bowls, sushi pizza, sushi tower, green monster roll, caterpillar roll, double spicy salmon roll, and mission noodle soup. The service was ok at best. As an Asian restaurant, I hope they know what family style means. Unfortunately, they would put our dishes in the middle of the table without additional plates or bowls like the mission noodle soup. Awkward at best. Sushi pizza was delicious with a crunchy fried nori/rice crust and savory sashimi pieces on top covered in spicy mayo. It really hit all my taste buds for sushi. The sushi tower was good too, but not something I would order again (you're just eating rice with avocado and salmon pieces, it's more presentation than flavor). The caterpillar was okay, tasted more like cucumber than anything else. The green monster was good, it had a tempura fried shrimp in the middle topped with eel. The double spicy salmon was also good, with an extra helping of spicy salmon on top of the sushi. The mission noodle soup SUCKED. The broth was too salty and had zero depth. There were bok choy, onions, and zucchini for vegetables with the soup, which is a weird combination for a restaurants eponymously named soup. I would've liked more bok choy over the mushy zucchini wedges and tasteless onions. The scorpion bowls were $18. I thought the price was steep because I know places that sell them for $11. Get the beer. Drinking three beers would be cheaper and probably get you more of a buzz than their scorpion bowls. read more

I would give this place a negative rating if I could. A friend and I came here at 7 pm on a Friday night. I get that it can get busy. But we were sitting for a good 15 minutes with menus before I raised my hand to ask for a waiter to take our order. A guy (I think the manager) took our order, and I thought all would be well. I waited 20 minutes for simple vegetarian dumplings and then another 20 for my Inari and Hawaiian sushi. My poor friend--he ordered a bao bao. Either they completely forgot it or never wrote it down, it never came for 20 minutes. I had to raise my hand and ask the waiter if she could check on it. Very friendly staff. I recommend the mission pad Thai, a bit spicier than the original one but it definitely is one of their most tasteful dishes. The basil beef rice is tasty as well, but the Korean food there is not nearly authentic. Will come again to try some other dishes. read more

I ordered summer rolls that are advertised as such, "Classic Vietnamese favorite! Romaine, rice noodles, bean sprouts, fresh herbs with a spicy peanut sauce." I only got romaine and noodles, but they threw tofu in for some reason. No herbs, no bean sprouts. I also ordered the Mission Noodle soup with tasted strongly of vegetable bouillon cubes and had huge chunks of zucchini, broccoli and Bok Choy that were super awkward to eat, and a couple dry shreds of carrot that looked like leftover garnishes. The spicy edamame was delicious and everything came out so fast! The waitress was conscious of my allergy and really helpful. I've placed a few orders from this place because it was closest decent sushi joint near work. Although the food is good, their customer service could use a little work. For example, I ordered my lunch special online for the first time today and chose the ginger salad dressing to go with my side salad. I then selected to have NO ginger, as in, no ginger with the sushi. Instead, the reversed happened where they GAVE me ginger and skipped the dressing. I ate my salad dry while I called them back to check if dressing was supposed to come on the side. I was put on hold and spoke with a girl who (probably) put together the order and then SHE questioned whether or not I knew what I had ordered. I had to spell out the order for her and teach her HOW to read it. Online ordering is supposed to make it easier for everyone, but it only works if people take the time to read. She then waited about 3 seconds before saying sorry. I hung up thinking, really? I think I'll skip this place from now and walk a little further to Sushi Station. This place made me feel like I was an awkward date, and I wasn't even on a date. I really wanted to like this place because I live within minutes of here. A lot of people work here and its a small space, so it feels a bit like people are constantly watching over you--but I can get over that. We were seated quickly however it took a while for a waiter to come over. I know this place is new, so maybe that was the case with the waiter too but he was incredibly quiet and made simple questions very awkward. He brought drinks out, my diet coke was beyond flat which was not a problem but the waiter was no where in sight. Finally after we flagged him down, he didn't acknowledge the soda and could hardly list what other sodas they had. When we went to order we asked in front of him if should get the chicken wings. He basically discouraged us from getting them and said they take really long to cook. I got sushi and my other two friends got stir fry dishes. My sushi was okay, but I prefer the quality and price of Sushi Station down the road. However, my friends' stir fry dishes were surprisingly really bad. The chicken was really poor quality and it was literally swimming in salty sauce. It resembled mall food court chinese/japanese stir fry. If you are going to get cheap Asian fusion food, you should just hit up the mall instead of this place. You'll be able to regret your decision alone in the corner of the food court. If you are looking for a nice dining environment and quality sushi, look elsewhere. read more

Food is okay. I've been coming here for about three years now, and the quality of the food seems to have gone downhill. Sugary, greasy, and weak on spices. Noodle dishes with vegetables and peppers usually don't have many veggies or peppers. Most ridiculous is that this place apparently charges you for condiments now. Want a little bit of sriracha with your meal? Expect to see that on your bill. Unbelievable when most similar places have a bottle of the stuff on the table. Charging for a condiment like sriracha at a place like this is like a burger joint charging you for ketchup. The fish was not fresh and it was STILL FROZEN when it arrived, and they gave a lot of undesirable fish rather than a lot of tuna/salmon. Quick overview: 1) No hassle ordering, you sign up for their mailing list and get free crab rangoons. 2) Showed up on time, well packaged/organized 3) I ordered the soy and garlic wings (good, nice flavor and crunch, massive), the beef bao bao (friggin awesome. beef had a lot of personality and flavor, the little bun was soft and fluffy), came with fries (not gonna lie, floppy and soggy like from a cafeteria), and the crab rangoons (fine, I've had worse I've had better). They are also relatively new so I give them props for having their sh*t together. I'm trying the bibimbop next time!
