Where to start... So many good things about this restaurant. Drinks and cocktails were well made and nicely strong. There was a good wine selection. Appetizers were plentiful, with lots of vegetarian choices. Portions were large and there was a lot of cultural diversity. I had the curry with peanut sauce and tofu. Great portion size and very tasty. Amazing service and a great place for small and large groups. Female-owned. Put it on heavy rotation.

    Pot pie

They had this delicious vegetarian chickpea pot pie that I could eat several times a week! We had a wonderful server, and the ambiance was great.

    Flatiron steak with crunchy onions

Fantastic experience. We dined with a group of 7 and every dish was excellent and tasty. We had many appetizers and tried just about every entree including steelhead trout, Flatiron steak, buttermilk fried chicken, and yellow Thai curry. Dessert? OMG to the chocolate torte, also had almond orange cake and rhubarb cobbler (too tart for me, could've used strawberries), but everything was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend this lovely low-lit place.

    Fried chicken with mashed potatoes

Everyone says their fried chicken is fantastic, and it is. The house salad was also hearty and delicious. Sat in the bar area and had a lovely server. Cocktails were spot on, wine list was good, the soup was beautiful and delicious. My only complaint is the brief menu. Just one of the three main dishes appealed to me, and there was no vegetarian entree, so that will likely limit how often I come back. Otherwise, a lovely evening meal.

Southside cocktail and Warewolves of London

I went to Calico for the first time and would recommend! Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. Excellent cocktails. We had a Southside and a Warewolves of London from their specialty menu. The menu is small and eclectic, calico?, which, to me, is a sign that the kitchen can focus on doing things well - and they did. The Thai curry was well balanced in flavor and texture. The lamb dish was the same. The chocolate cake was like a slice of truffle with toffee and nuts. So delicious! Dining room was busy, but not loud. Very nice all around.

Mapu Doufu - too salty for me
    Liz K.

Went here for the first time last night after drooling over the menu online. I'm a fussy b*tch so scroll on if you are like my husband and think my expectations are too high. I got the Mapo Doufu & he got the Salmon & Lentils. I thought the first was too salty so we swapped dishes. The salmon was skin on so I don't think it needed the tarragon oil. The lentils looked like they belonged in midwinter stew. It's springtime y'all! Go fresh and light next time! The fleur chardonnay was perfection!

HOWEVER...I've been to Gigantic at least three times now and I have to admit that going out of your way is worth it. The drink list is not huge, but it's never boring, changes often enough to keep me interested, and I don't recall getting anything less than excellent. If they're willing to do a "bartender's choice" type thing (I haven't tried), I might have to go even more often. To address some of the things that others mentioned: Yes, it's small, but lots of good places are. Yes, the drinks take awhile, but I don't know of ANY high-end cocktail place that can cranks them out. Get over it and enjoy your time there. I've never experienced rude or pretentious (anymore than that are always is) service, but that would annoy me. The server/bartender has always been quite nice to my friends and me. I also checked out their list of vintage liquors last time I was there. I didn't try any (because money) but the fact that they have them at all is impressive.

What we did like was the old school music, vintage feel that took on the vibes of an antique shop (it was fun to look around), and the intimate setting. The cocktails were really good and creative with a menu that updates frequently and featured some classics as well. The cocktails were a bit pricey for what you got and for the area, the snack options were very limited and overpriced, and service was very slow despite few people being in the bar. We had to ask to be served and waited over 15 minutes for the check. We are glad we checked out Gigantic and would not recommend going out of your way for it as there are other great cocktail bars in neighboring towns.

How absolutely ridiculous to sit there and try to sow political division in our community. There are many different types of people who live here, and discrimination is never okay. Yesterday, there were several absolutely normal families, a gay couple, a trans person, and your regular bar-goers. Would it be okay for Amy's to turn those folks away because a Trump lover cried about it on Yelp? Grow up. Anyway, Amy's has some of the best boneless wings I've had in a long time- it's so rare to find ones that are not pre-frozen or just full of cartilage. Their French onion soup is always a winner, as well. I think the atmosphere is pretty cozy, and there's always a game on if you're into that sort of thing. Either way- Amy's is a great local, American, community restaurant that really reminds me of the kinds of restaurants I used to go to when I was a kid. We'll be back for sure!

The beer list is a rock solid curation of high-quality regional craft beers and the cocktail menu is quirky and fun. I'm not the sort of person who drinks martinis that taste like cookies but that's super fun for some people, and I appreciate the diversity of choices that appeal to a wide range of people and their particular moments in life. I had a cocktail made with grapefruit juice that actually tasted identifiably like fresh grapefruit juice. The service was kind, attentive, pleasant and professional. The ambience was casual and easy going, and the place was clean and welcoming. So it is regrettable that having just discovered this perfectly nice place I will never set foot in there again. They serve Trumpists wearing Trump-fawning t-shirts. If that bothers you, you should not eat here. We moved tables, still couldn't bring ourselves to eat, packed our uneaten food, tipped well, knocked back the remaining beer, left a hundred dollars lighter, and will never return.* People can and do refuse to serve fascists. This business choose to serve them. Spend your money as you wish. * Yes, that's pricey for lunch but that's on us. We went out to have fun. It was a hard week. The prices were reasonable. We had cocktails, beer, an appetizer and an entree. Frugal people who aren't quite as desperate for a little fun could get away spending less, on the other hand, you may have to eat it looking at this guy.
