Kind of an institution in Lincoln. Particularly on Friday nights before Nebraska football home games. (The marching band and cheerleaders parade and play through the joint....It's a hoot.) Misty's has that old school 1970's steakhouse feel. It's not the best prime rib I've ever had, so I think it's over-priced, but they have two appetizers that I loove. The escargots and prime rib bites. Snails are a wonderful butter-garlic-gooey-cheese delivery system (yum), and prime rib bites are absolutely delicious although sometimes too salty. read more

Misty's is a great place to eat and the Havelock location is the original and the best. I've eaten there 30+ times over the past four years and never been disappointed once. For steak I personally prefer the prime rib by far over any other choices. I've also had the salmon as well as the salmon salad, both are excellent. The soups are always great as well, I often just ask for the du jour without even bothering to inquire as to what it is. Unless I'm in the mood for the bisque which will never let you down either. The staff is always friendly, professional and won't disappear on you. If you ever get a chance to stop in on a Friday night during football season, be sure to. The Husker marching band comes through which is a lot of fun. Be sure to show up a bit early for this if you want a table though. There are also a few "deals" which help the pocketbook as Misty's can be expensive. Prime rib is half off Mondays and Tuesdays before five. On Wednesdays all burgers are $6 and they also have wings three for $1. I usually get the wings and dipping them in Misty's special ranch is amazing. First and last time to Misty's Steakhouse Havelock. First off the waitress was great!...The food SUCKED! We will start with the salad, it was a spring mix which is fine, some of it was black, definitely past its prime! We ordered 2 sirloins, and 1 14 oz. Prime rib 7 ounces of which were either gristle or fat. The exterior of the prime rib had great seasoning the inside nothing. The sirloins had no flavor at all, had to send one back due to undercooked. I love Misty's seasoning why are you not using it. The baked potato was as dry as sand, the cheese was like one huge GLOB. The mushrooms on my prime rib had no flavor and were cold, once again where is your famous seasoning? My total for this rotten fathers day dinner was $101.31 I did leave a $20 tip, because it wasn't the waitresses fault. The table next to us ordered crab legs, the steamer broke, the manager did come out and apologize. My new question is why does the manager of an overpriced establishment look like a homeless vagrant... really sweats and a dirty black t shirt. Went here after the Huskers game and received the most awful customer service for our family of 8. We were not seated for an hour, which we expected, because we were told they do not take reservations on game days. (Found out that that was not true, (along with a huge side of unwarranted attitude from the host, but whatever). Once seated, we were ignored for another 30 minutes, then we finally were able to order beverages. Waited another 30 minutes to order food (with 8 people, we could hardly be choosy about finding another restaurant that night). The food came out, and I'm not even exaggerating, NINETY+ minutes later. And cold. And unappealing. And not worth the fuss. This was my first experience at Misty's and I'll never return. My in-laws have been going to Misty's since the late 60's when THEY attended UNL and they were so disgusted with the service they will never go back to the restaurant. If you come to Nebraska, this is another "you gotta do it right" place. I was in town for a Husker football game. The atmosphere of the marching band adds a nice touch. The prime rib coupled with au graten potatoes and caeser salad was off the hook. Throw in a Blue Moon of five and you're golden. The 70's called... and they want their restaurant back. Very dated interior, the range hood over the kitchen appeared to be nothing short of scary, and the layout of the seating was pure 1970 brown pleated high-back vinyl booths. The service was excellent, our food arrived quickly, and our steak dinners were cooked good. The sides were as expected but nothing special. Another plus was that the house Cabernet was a nice pour and was tasty for the price. Would I go back? Probably not. Terrible terrible service. Went with family for a birthday party. Our waitress was the slowest service I've ever received. She wrote everything down once, correctly, and then continued to "verify" over and over again at least seven times throughout our visit. From the time we sat down until we actually got to order our food it was an hour. By the time we got our food it was pushing an hour and a half. We had to flag her down for drinks and eventually ended up visiting the bar ourselves. We all had about four to six rounds before we asked about or food and how much longer it would be. We got a snotty "well, I don't know but I could go check..." coincidentally she returned with our food. Once we got our food all of it was either luke warm or stark cold. Prime ribs, pastas, baked potatoes and sea food that you could stick your finger into they were so frigid. I found the manager and expressed my concern for the cold meals, mine having a price tag of $25 ALONE (I had the Queen cut prime rib), and I got a completely emotionless and absolutely unremorseful/ unconcerned response of "what do you want me to do about it," followed by "well, you won't get sick because they can be eaten up to 4 hours after the meals are cooked." I think I'm actually going to be calling the health department... This man stated that prime rib and sea food would not make you sick if it was stark cold or luke warm. As if the experience couldn't have gotten any worse, the waitress was now good and irritated that we had complained, being rude to the birthday guest we had brought from out of town for dinner. Then the manager visited our table to ask us if he could "warm our food up," I expressed my concern for the fact that he used that statement while talking about my $25 meal that I had waited over two hours for. He told us the food had sat in the window too long and that the order was made in 21 min from start to finish which left us wondering why it took almost an hour for our food to get to us. He also stated that the food was ordered after the salads came out which was an hour after we had ordered. We also had to find someone to ask where they were at. He asked the whole table "how much we wanted to pay," instead of attempting to offer new hot fresh meals... He offered to warm them up and then still wanted us to pay for them. Some were modest and said I'd take half price, starving they choked down their food. My husband and I did not. We said we would like to leave. The manager asked us if we wanted to pay for our drinks, and although it took at least thirty min for each one to reach us and the bartender had snapped at us while walking by when we asked for assistance, we agreed we would. FOURTY MINUTES LATER, I got up and walked around the restaurant until I found the manager.... We still did not have our split checks. He, again showed no remorse. Responded with the plethora of excuses ranging from "two more minutes of waiting is going to make or break your night, and you've wanted to leave for the last 40 minutes?!" and asked us to CONTINUE TO WAIT as they were still working on them..... I asked when he was going to take responsibility for this atrocious night and comp the entire table so we could LEAVE, and he continued with excuses to stall for time. I explained that we wanted nothing more than to leave and that we had been MORE than patient, after a few more minutes of standing in the same spot and him watching the other employee ((not our waitress)) working on the tickets STILL, he finally agreed to comp the entire ticket. I've been to misty's many many times as I have Lincoln my whole life, but I will NEVER be back. The prices are so high that there's no way I'd get as close as their sidewalk with that kind of service and management let alone the food. This experience took over two and a half hours, starting at 4pm! And when we left there was no I'm sorry or attempt to save things. I will be contacting the owner AND the health department regarding this experience. Heed my advice and don't set foot in this establishment. Just left Misty's. The worst meal of my life and unfortunately we were warned about the poor food as we were walking in the door and ignored the comments. Had King cut prime rib and baked potato. The meat was fatty all through it. My husband who feeds cattle said it looked like cow meat. Tried 2 small pieces, one of which I spit out. I really like baked potatoes but this one tasted like it was a leftover and on top of that it was cold. Waiter asked how our meal was and I was totally honest. His response was a quick I'm sorry. I know it wasn't his fault. I've never written a food review before and have never complained about a meal before. I will never eat here again. The thing is I don't think they care. Worst meal I've had in a very long time. Our waitress acted like she was on pain pills or antidepressants. She was very loopy. Another waitress had to refill our drinks. Our salads came out very fast the dressing was good but the greens were very wilted and old. Then 45 minutes later our meals were delivered. I ordered chicken and green beans. I began eating the chicken with cheese on it and was barely ok to eat. Very burnt and the cheese was rubbery. So I moved to the green beans and had to spit out the first bite. I asked someone else to taste them and they said it taste like lighter fluid and they spit it out also. 20 minutes later our waitress never checked on us even after my full meal was placed at the edge of the table. Another person had the French dip and said Jimmy John's was better. Another person had chicken Alfredo and said it didn't even taste like Alfredo. We all left still hungry after I had to go to hostess to pay. They didn't even offer to take any of the meals off. read more

We took a trip here for a graduation dinner. It was prefect for a family from WI and having been in Chicago a few years; this place was exactly what I was expecting for an established Nebraska steakhouse. It could use some updates, but that would take away from the charm. We reserved one of the private party rooms on the second floor overlooking the restaurant. The restaurant is located in an unassuming building with dim lighting and lots of old sports paraphernalia on the walls. It offers a cozy steakhouse feel. The restaurant was packed, which speaks volumes to their food. The staff were helping and accommodating. We had a party of 13 and, not going to lie, we are a handful. Props to our server for making everything go smoothly! They have a nice beer list, nothing out of the ordinary as well as enough wine choices to find something you like. There are meat and seafood options, but I highly recommend sticking to the meat options, for obvious reasons (land locked Nebraska turning out award winning livestock). The Prime rib is their specialty, and well worth the largest cut you can handle. Those that ordered the prime rib stated at parts it was a bit tough and not melt-in-your-mouth good. Also, maybe due to the high volume of guests, the prime rib seemed over cooked a step. For someone who ordered the prime rib medium, it came almost medium well. For those that ordered it rare, it came medium. I ordered the Filet Mignon and was not disappointed. I like it medium rare and that's what I got. It was tender and melted in my mouth. It was an overwhelming majority that we enjoyed the Lobster Bisque soup to start things off. However, the French Onion did look amazing. Go for the meat, stay for a night cap, enjoy the dark cozy Midwestern atmosphere. read more

I went off the only other review on hear and I have to say I was disappointed. I've lived in Lincoln all my life, this was first time at this location. It was very dark and very 70's Godfather esque decor, it took a very long time and food was subpar. I got the prime rib melt and it was super chewy and the meat seemed old. Soooo... we are new to town and decided to splurge for a date night. Misty's came highly recommended. We gave it a shot. First, it was pep rally night. We had no idea. It was loud and crazy and there was a 45 minute wait for a table. No big deal. We waited. We figured if it had a 45 minute wait, it has to be good. About 40 ish minutes later, the hostess who had been twirling her hair and smacking her gum had forgotten that we were there and we noticed some empty tables so we went and asked her if we could have one. She took us to a table still soaked from the cleaning solution on the table and seat. I asked for a towel so I could wipe it off. She seemed irritated that I asked and reluctantly went to get a towel. We wiped it down enough to sit down without being drenched and were greeted by a clearly tired and worn down waitress who was very polite. We ordered the Cajun prime rib and a couple beers. Appetizer came out minutes later cold. No worries. We decided to order. I got the strip, medium and my husband ordered the filet without the bacon cooked around it, medium rare. About another 20 minutes goes by and our food comes out, cold and undercooked and his wrapped in bacon. We ask if we could have one not cooked with the bacon and she takes it back up. About another 30 seconds later, she comes back with the same steak without the bacon. We ask her if she just took the bacon off. She said yes and asked if we would like it cooked without it. We said yes and to please take mine back and have it cooked medium, not medium rare. So about ten minutes later, we have food. It's decent at best. $122.00 for average steaks from a highly recommended local restaurant. I get it. They were busy. They were tired. But i rarely splurge on a night out and was very disappointed. Our server was clearly exhausted and we understand that things happen that are out of her control so yes, we still tipped her generously. In conclusion, if you are looking for a great date night steakhouse, keep driving. Just my opinion. read more

This has always been our favorite place in northeast lincoln! I almost always ride the steak sandwich, and never once have I had less than great service. My mom and I dined in tonight, and the food was spot on. But we had a lot of trouble simply getting through the door in the first place because my mom is in a wheelchair. Misty's outside doors are NOT handicapped accessible. They work manually, are heavy, and there's no way to prop them open. I had to use my purse as a doorstop, and then I spent several minutes struggling to wheel my mom's chair over the uneven entryway. The door's threshold is higher than the concrete below it, and is in need of a reducer or some such solution. Then there are two more inner doors to tackle after that. Luckily, another guest saw us struggling and asked the staff to help. We still had problems getting the chair over the first inner door threshold, and I actually had to pull my mom inside backwards. By the time we were seated, I was exhausted and my mom was embarrassed. These may seem like small things to complain about, but they can truly prevent differently abled people from enjoying things like everyone else. read more

I hate to compare a business to their past glories, but it's the only way I can fairly rate the Misty's of today. The Friday night pregame atmosphere and pep band experience hasn't changed. Still something any Nebraska football fan should experience. The staff and service is still friendly and attendant. I could maybe upgrade my review to 2 stars just for that. The food however brings them back to 1 star. A queen cut prime rib, which is the second largest after the king was less than 1/4 inch thick. A really tiny portion compared to the cuts of the past. Delivered lukewarm to the table without any flavor to speak of. I've had better prime rib at Golden Corral buffet. In the future I'll stop in for the pep band performance, then head across the street to Misty Isles where the pizza is still one of the best in Lincoln. read more

It's has a reputable name throughout Lincoln, and this location was the renowned original. However, this location does not live up to the "Misty's praise". I have been to this location 3 times, as well as the South location many times, and the Downtown location once. I will say this; you are BETTER OFF going to the SOUTH or DOWNTOWN locations, for a much better experience. Even though most people would assume the original would have the best service and hold its prestige, it simply does not anymore. My prime rib has been under cooked every time, the entrees are not to the same standard as they are at the others, and the service overall isn't as good. I gave this location 3 honest tries, on different days of the week even. I love Misty's, but I doubt that I will eat at this location again. read more

Not too chewy, but did not seem hot, right off the grill. We also asked her mother and father about their steak, and same thing, was not hot, to include their potatoes. We think they leave the food sit out until everything's cooked? Not sure, I've never ran a kitchen, but i just know it wasn't hot. The food is good though, dessert looked really good but we were too full. Waitress was very nice and met our needs. I was in Lincoln and have usually gone to another 'popular' steakhouse when in town. The front desk clerk at the hotel suggested I try 'Mistys' and I did. The place is a walk back in time, lots of Husker stuff on walls and cool college helmet (many of them signed) in lobby. I sat at the bar and had a couple of decent microbrews and orderd the prime rib. Food was good, beer was good, and service was decent. The bar itself is cool and has a lot of character. Bar stools look like they came out of a old vegas lounge. Here is a suggestion to the owner - you have a cool bar, get the bartenders to dust the bottles and back of bar. read more

We ate at the new south location on 12/21. I will never go back. Even though we made reservations earlier in the day, and there were plenty of seats available, the hostess insisted on seating us right at the entrance of the dinning area. Fortunately she sat us 1 booth down after we asked to be seated away from the door. I had the Salmon Chloe. It actually had raw shrimp on top of the little 2x4 piece of fish drenched to the point of greasy with butter priced at $21.95. It was awful. read more

I am not a native of Nebraska but my family and I have been driving from Chicago to Denver since I was very young and LIncoln has always been the halfway hut where we would stop for dinner. This is the best steak/prime rib that you are ever going to put inside your mouthhole. It melts in your mouth, is extremely tender and juicy, and comes at about half the price of a Chicago steak. The seasoning is also amazing and we are always sure to bring some back home with us. Also look into the french onion soup for your soup or salad choice. I think Misty's is the only reason why we still drive to Denver. It's truly a gem in the middle of nowhere. read more

My brother and I were hungry for Prime Rib. We moved here to Nebraska from California 7 years ago, so we are still searching for good restaurants. We asked people everywhere, and Misty's, Lazlo's, and The Steak House were recommended. I checked the reviews of Misty's, and as it was close to the VA (our last stop of the day), we decided to eat there. I ordered Prime Rib, and my brother ordered a sirloin sandwich. My sides were Caesar salad, and garlic mashed potatoes. I was very disappointed. The mashed potatoes were gummy and had lumps, and luke-warm, served in a small dish. I was pretty sure they were from a box, not fresh made. The dish looked like it had sat out for a while. The Caesar salad had an off taste, couldn't figure out the dressing. My brother tasted it too, and agreed. Couldn't eat much of it. But the big disappointment was the prime rib. It was served in a dish/bowl sitting in very salty broth/sauce? The sauce was so salty it drowned out the taste of the prime rib. I complained to the waitress, who took it back, and drained the juice out. But too late, the meat was still too salty, and not that tender. She should have given me a new slice. On it's own the meat was just OK, definitely not worth the $30 I had to pay. A woman, I think the manager came around asking how everything was. When I started to complain, she backed off and wouldn't listen. My brother's sirloin sandwich was OK. As we left the hostess asked us what we thought, we told her, she at least listened. She was surprised, saying no one had ever complained before. Now that I believe...as based on experience reading Yelp reviews, and then checking the restaurants out, my brother and I have come to the sad conclusion that Nebraskans don't know good food - if its salty, bland, and large portions, they love it. We will take the advice of a person we asked - she said the best prime rib is the meat you buy at Leon's gourmet grocery. Now I believe her, and will do that. read more

After growing up in Nebraska and sharing great meals with my folks at Misty's, I have a fond recollection of good food, comfy surroundings and fair prices. After this trip into their somewhat new location downtown, I was extremely disappointed. Buffalo wings were small and the accompanying blue cheese contained not one, but two, twisty black hairs (human). Unfortunately I did not find these until I was on my last wing, which also contained a kinky black hair. My "signature" dish of Salmon Chloe was over cooked and the shrimp covering it were the size of peas. I did not know shrimp were that small. My waitress never asked if any of the dishes were to my liking, as I was waiting to inform her the cook should wear a hair net. Service was fairly quick, but very impersonal. Oh yeah, the bar top chair are some of the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on. I may consider a repeat trip as my memories of this old establishment are strong and this may have just been a bad night all around. read more

I visted Misty's on four occasions. The first visit was ok with good service. The second visit I could have gotten better food and service at Mc Donalds. I complained to the Manager and his responce at the time was "What do you want me to do?" Later after talking to the Owner and recieiving an apology for the bad experience We decide to try one more time. Good service average food. On valentines 6 months later we visited again. That night was the worse yet. Bad Service, Bad food bad responce when complained to managemet. Haven't gone back again and won't. The prices are too high for not knowing if you are going to get good service and food verses bad service and food. Misty's gives the Cornhusker football team such an enormous advantage over all other schools that the NCAA should investigate. What recruit would play elsewhere if treated to Misty's on their recruiting visit? The outside of the restaurant is very uninviting; we nearly decided not to enter. Ok....Had the prime rib and lobster bisque...and both were excellent...meat had a lovely texture, and a terrific seasoning. Service was so very friendly and accommodating (a given in this part of the country...even more so than back home in Maine). However, I am soooo close to giving Misty's 5 stars because I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the old school decor. Really dark with candlelit tables, giant rounded booths and a huge round bar with chairs on wheels all around. This is the kind of place I dream about finding.....and rarely am able to any longer. Had the king cut of prime rib au jus after the Husker game and it was fabulous as always. Drove out to Havelock of course because it always seems the original place is the best; I won't waste my time experimenting with the other locations (even though we were already downtown). The french onion soup here is the best ever, I always get it, and I was kicking myself for not upgrading from cup to bowl. The prime rib was so juicy and flavorful with an amazing crust, just like I remember it. I can only imagine how good the end pieces are. I am not giving five stars because it pisses me off that they charge $2 extra for a tiny scoop of canned mushrooms, and also this last visit our waitress was a bitchy buffoon. She kept saying "can do" to each and every request which was hilarious because every time she left the table we muttered "won't do". It's relatively hard for me to leave a small tip, but this time I just had to! Oh yeah, one more thing, my sister got a caesar salad and the dressing seriously tasted like fuel, they took it away but didn't replace it or do anything when it came time to pay the bill.
