The new guy needs more training. He cut me really badly the other day when shaving my beard, rash all over face, blood running down my lip and no apology. And he shaved a lot of random places without my permission such as shaving under the nose and awkward side hairlines that I now have to grow back (looks bad). I had a great haircut from Daniel a couple months ago at Mitch Barbershop. I live in LA but at the time indoor haircuts were shut down due to the pandemic and my usual barber wasn't offering outdoor cuts yet. So out of desperation I decided to go in for a haircut on a weekend trip to San Diego. Making an appointment was super easy but didn't seem necessary on a Saturday afternoon. I walked a couple blocks from my hotel and got a great haircut. Daniel is super friendly and has amazing attention to detail. I was really happy with my haircut and would definitely go back next time I'm in town. Everyone inside kept their masks on at all times and there was plenty of sanitizer around. The cut I received was great. I did however had to comb it myself because I like what I like. However, the shave was poorly done. It was done maybe 90% of the way. The angle of the chair was awkward to where she was not shaving correctly. She missed my lower neck. Also, the shave after awhile was so painful. My wife said it looked like I was nicked several times. My face was so sore afterwards, I had to go back to the hotel and put after shave on it 3x to cool it down. Also, I had to go back and shave the rest of the hairs she missed and then put on more after shave. What a waste of money. read more

As far as downtown haircuts go, you can not beat this place for SO many reasons. Here are a few of the reasons I love this place: 1. Geo(the owner) always greets me with a massive smile and he always offers me a beverage.... and I take the beer of course. And it's not just your basic bud or miller; I got an Elysian Dayglow IPA. Every other barber downtown only gives well/shitty beer. 2. The music and ambiance here is awesome. All top 50s/hip hop/throwback jams and the TVs play music videos if you want to watch something mid haircut. It's also never crowded but I do recommend setting an appointment beforehand so you don't wait forever. 3. The cut: OMG this is the best cut I've had in so long. I had Crystal. She doesn't talk much but she knows so much about hair. I view her as an artist and my head is her canvas. And honestly best razor fade I've ever gotten. She did a dry shave (which I've never had before) but not a single scrape or cut and she really took her time which I appreciate. Will always go back to Crystal for the cut. 4. The price: you honestly can't beat it. Downtown a solid razor cut with this type of customer service will go for at least $40-50. This place charges $27 for the razor fade, shampoo, and styling. And on top of it, IT'S THE BEST CUT I'VE EVER GOTTEN. I cannot express how much I love this place and will most definitely be coming back every time I need a cut. I called in to Mitch Barbershop this morning around noon and requested a male haircut for later today. They said 4pm was available, I confirmed, and they said great. No number or name was taken, so I was a bit concerned that our appointment wouldn't be honored. When we came in, parking was easy to find close by and we were attended to immediately by Rita. I sat down on their comfortable leather couches, and waited a total of maybe 30min. As the girlfriend of a man who's hair grows exceptionally fast, I've seen my fair share of acceptable and unacceptable haircuts. This is literally the best place to get a haircut! I like how the employees are nice and outgoing! It's just positive vibes everywhere. My favorite barber is Bridget she literally helps you find a hairstyle that fits you. Bridget literally takes you step by step on how you want your hair to be cut and does an excellent job of executing it! I do like to switch up my hair cut and at times explaining the style may be challenging but I always bring a picture and the stylist always listens and provides recommendations. Came in to get a fade, and straight razor shave. My stylist was McKayla, and let me tell you, she NAILED it! She was extremely attentive listening to how I wanted my hair cut, and gave me exactly what I asked for. I absolutely LOVE my hair, she cut the top so it lays just how I like, and the sides and back are blended to perfection. I couldn't be happier. The shave was amazing too, I have really sensitive skin and break out easily after shaving, but not this time, it was a fantastic experience and I haven't had even the slightest hint of a breakout either. And to top it all off she has an amazing personality, great conversation, and Stellar customer service. I have been to a lot of Hairdressers in San Diego but none of them have made me feel as happy and confident about my hair as McKayla.
