Taylor S. gave me a terrible haircut. I don't normally go to a salon but needed a haircut before a company offsite. I expected a "master stylist" to know what they were doing and even potentially make recommendations. I provided multiple photos of the style I wanted but the end result was nothing like it. When I got home my girlfriend immediately said she didn't like it and since a couple of friends have said the same. So I had to get another haircut after dropping $120 here. My barber (Melissa) really cared about how I wanted it to look and was gently inquisitive in the perfect way. And then she totally nailed it, better than I could have even described what I wanted. Going in I was not sure what to expect. The girls here are very nice to each other and seemed to support each other well. My haircut was pretty solid and Alexa listened to what I was desiring to have done to my hair. I have pretty long hair for a man, and I honestly dread getting haircuts. It's probably half the reason I went 15 months without one. I've tried a few of the "Male Hair Salons" around San Diego in the past and the last place seriously butchered the job. My experience with Taylor at Tailored Hair was the complete opposite. It was an hour long session with the wash and she fully listened to what I wanted. I just wanted a trim to make it healthier and not so frizzy and unmanageable. There was no rush to get me out of the chair and she really took her time on the detail and quality. Per my request, she didn't try to do any crazy styling or upsell me on any hair product. She gave a recommendation on what I could use if I wanted to address the frizz and that was that. Very much appreciated! They essentially have a full-bar, I think I even saw somebody have a latte made for them. For men, it's definitely on the more pricey side for getting a haircut, but it's well worth it. Way less than trying to get my long hair cut at a traditional salon. I've never liked my haircut just hours after getting it done, but this is EXACTLY what I wanted. Thank you very much, Taylor. Slightly different name, different location, same great service! I've been to Tailored Hair a few times before when it was located near the Padres Stadium. Appointments are made online with a choice of stylists based on levels. My appointment was around 10AM and when I walked in I was greeted and offered a drink (beer or water, they used to has a whiskey bar and a coffee station at the old location). My stylist was Jay Marie, she was awesome and encouraged me to embrace my long wavy/curly hair, which was grown due to the stay home orders and out of laziness. I mentioned John Wick as a reference for the hair cut and she did a bang up job, she was able to shape it to be similar and fit my hair type. She also offered tips and suggestions for products to maintain the look. It's pricey for for sure, though quality of work and attention to detail was superb.
