I have passed this location on lower Federal Rd in Danbury many times and never noticed it. I always thought it was just the heating oil truck location. Great price for gas, multiple pumps. They have a small convenience store located next to the pumps. I really liked the Digital Touch screen which showed you the price and how many gallons. read more

Mitchell Fuel service has gone down and has not kept up with the times in technology. I was an auto delivery customer and was left to run out again this winter while i was away for 10 days and returning to a freezing home. Luckily I turn my water off before leaving for an extended period. When I called to speak with Mitchell they informed me I was called and emailed. Not true. The excuse was that it was a cold and snowy winter which disrupted their schedules. The Mitchell website is basically useless. Their is very little detail and visibility into your account. Also other companies offer remote monitoring devices that they can monitor as well as an app you can follow as well. Mitchell pricing is not the best as well. Look elsewhere for service. read more

Terrible customer service; the reps have unprofessional phone demeaner, and deliveries are always late and require tons of follow up. No receipt is every left when fills are made. We paid for a fuel delivery and 3 days later still have not received it with no explanation! This is unacceptable especially in 15 degree weather. The weather was an issue last week but the roads and driveways are now cleared. An apology and thank you for being a customer would go a long way- but this company doesn't give those! read more

When a major problem with our 45 year old oil furnace was discovered (leaking heat exchanger) we had to replace the entire system; we also switched from an external a/c unit to a heat pump. We had been using Burke Energy since 1977, and discovered that while in late August 2025 Burke was charging $4.48/gal for the heating oil, Mitchell was charging $3.29/gal, and several other companies were also in that range. We went with Mitchell, and they came the day after the new system was installed to inspect. We're now with them for heating oil, and also for propane to run our generator. I cannot say enough good things about the service I get from Mitchell. I have a very labor intensive heating and cooling system (3 AHUs, high efficiency boiler, ducted and under-floor climate control systems). I have an annual service contract with Mitchell for the heating system. Had a repair scheduled for today which became very involved due to the complexity of my system. We recently lost heat in our office and call Mitchell per our service contract. We were given a window of time for which the tech would respond and, since our staff had to work in a less-than-favorable temperature, we performed some rudimentary troubleshooting. We found that the boiler's ignitor had failed, and we called Mitchell to provide this information. We were treated professionally, not talked down to, and assured that if they had the part in stock the tech would bring it with him. They did and he did. Since the work they said was done was not complete I had asked for the bill to be dropped in which I got a written response of "My goal is to get this bill off your account entirely" from Tim. I woke up to no hot water. Ugh. Im a renter and my landlord needs to approve the service and any charges that a repair company makes. I emailed The Mitchell rep I had communicated with in the past, Stephanie, knowing that they needed permission to do work. It was around 7:30am. I informed her of the problem and provided the landlord contact info again. By 9:30 am she had communicated with the owner and got permission and arranged for a service call. By 10:30am they arrived. Mitchell has just completed conversion of our house from an oil-based system to propane -- installing (1) a new Frontier EK-1 furnace, (2) a hot water tank with indirect heating from the furnace, (3) three 100-gallon propane tanks outside with piping to the furnace; and (4) hot-water baseboard heat in our basement. We are very happy with the process and the result. The salesperson, Tim came promptly to our house and took only a few days afterwards to provide a detailed quote. Tim then answered our many follow-up questions and made a couple of adjustments to fit our requests. The work proceeded on the dates Tim indicated and according to Tim's estimate. Tim also came on-site as the work began to ensure things were in order. Throughout the installation Tim was constantly available and very responsive -- working to handle various small requests and ensure our satisfaction. To handle the various parts of the installation and removal of our old oil tanks at least 10 workmen come to our house at various points -- both Mitchell employees and contractors. All were all thoroughly professional and did excellent work -- we are very happy with how the system now functions. We are also very happy with the Mitchell financing department who worked efficiently and politely to get billing and other things setup. We considered many companies before selecting Mitchell, and as these comments suggest, we are highly satisfied with our choice. read more

I had a problems with Mitchell initially but once I had a supervisor involved things started working out much better. I used to have trouble getting rates and pricing in writing but I am noticing an improvement with this and am crystal clear now. In the past, the "gas guy" did not speak to the "oil guy", but since getting a supervisor involved, I no longer hear "that is not my job description". Mitchell Fuel has caused me many problems over the past several years. Firstly, last year they neglected to tell me they couldn't get up my driveway with their truck in a snowstorm so I ran out of propane! This year their prices have increased tremendously. I was paying off my bill and made a payment two weeks ago and then another today. I have one more payment to go and they refuse to deliver any propane unless I pay in full each month! In addition, they never leave me any indication of the amount of fuel delivered even though I have asked them to do that quite a few times! They have no heart or compassion and their communications skills are terrible. I am hoping to change to another company as soon as I can. read more

Their technicians are very knowledgable and highly qualified, and their customer service can't get any better.
