I bought the entire living room and family room furniture from their store on Halsted Street and North Avenue in Chicago. Well, they are quite pricy but we liked the furniture and got fooled by their assurance about the quality. 2-3 months later we noticed the fabric was getting a lot of lint and falling apart, which wasn't supposed to happen to a $5000 couch. When we called, they gave us a run around and eventually acknowledged that the material was defective. It took them another couple months to replace the couch. The new couch was apparently fine but within a few months the stitching became loose. When we called the, they gave us a run around and nothing happened. Eventually we sopped chasing them because there are better things to do in life. What a waste of money. A TOTAL DISAPPOITMENT!!! Avoid this place at all costs! We stopped in as we needed design services as we recently purchased a new home. We were greeted by a friendly associate who promised to assist us with the design of our new home. She convinced us to purchase the comfort club membership which would allow us to receive said services. The design associate had visited our home to help with our design. We purchased several items she recommended. She stated she would be putting together a mood board, assisting us with lighting choices, as well as connecting us with various professionals to help us accomplish our goals. Fast forward a month, crickets. She doesn't respond to text messages. She doesn't respond to emails. She doesn't respond to calls. We have reached out to the store in Chicago on several occasions and nothing. No returned calls, Nothing. Apparently, once you spend some money in this store that is as far as the relationship goes. Once they have your money, good luck getting any help from these people. I bought a sectional sofa for our pied a terre I. Toronto. This item was purchased in Canada. We noticed the upholstery was stretching after only a few months and with very little use. We called the company in the uS who recommended an upholsterer in Toronto. His recommendation made no sense, the company did not respond to my repeated calls until I eventually gave up. The piece is very comfortable, but the upholstery has continued to stretch and also now is marred by little balls. This is a linen like fabric and the sofa looks 25 years old!!!!!! I am very disappointed. I have had custom made sofa I. A light fabric at our permanent home that has stood up for 20 years. I will not buy Mitchell Gold again despite the wonderful styling. Could Somebody Please Get Me My Sofa?? 11/28 2021 - New Sofa Order Placed & Confirmed 12/2/2021 - Shipping estimate of 2/21/22; shipper to contact within 3-4 weeks for final delivery 2/23/2021 - Notified that order was sent to shipper 3/25/22 - Informed (after inquiring) that sofa due to arrive at local shipping depot on 3/28/22 4/21/22 - Informed (after multiple inquiries) that sofa was damaged on arrival at shipper 4/28/22 - Informed (after multiple inquiries) that sofa is not repairable and must be re-ordered (despite being told that it's an upholstery issue.  We have upholstery people in Chicago... why does it need to be re-ordered from the East Coast?) 5/2/22 - Informed that sofa had been re-ordered. Estimate TEN WEEKS to re-ship to shipper (and who knows how much longer to get to me...). 5/3/22 - Informed the situation had been referred to the online department to see about expediting it. 5/22/22 - Still waiting... I am in the process of purchasing my third couch from MGBW. Their products are great once they arrive, but this time after placing an order 8 weeks ago on a custom upholstered couch timed to move into my new house, I am extremely disappointed that I have no inkling whatsoever on when it will actually arrive and am faced with the prospect of sitting on the floor indefinitely. I might be OK with the experience if expectations were set up front, if the sales person actually gave me confidence that she knew what she was doing (and didn't make multiple mistakes on setting up the order causing time delays) or if she didn't respond defensively when I asked questions about my order (citing information she never shared and flippantly saying a few days does not matter). But she failed on all of these dimensions. I tried multiple times to contact the store manager who was never available. When I called corporate, they directed me back to the store. One would think that if you are going to charge the amount that they do for their products, you would at least be clear about what to expect and then not try to go back and cover your tracks later. They get four star for product design and quality, but customer experience is so bad, need to knock my review down, would go negative if Yelp would let me. Please read the ​"spot-on" reviews about lengthy delivery times. It'll save you a lot of stomach-churning​ frustration if you heed the warnings. The quality of the merchandise is fine and is attractive enough. The staff is friendly and helpful WHILE you are in the store and WHILE you are placing an order. Unfortunately, everything goes downhill from there. I ordered a set of lamps months ago with the assurance that they were in stock and would arrive within 2 weeks. Not true. The lamps finally came but one of the shades was missing. That was six weeks ago and they (Jackie, Kim) have still not sent me a replacement nor have they provided any helpful follow-through. Saccharine sweet promises that the issue will be addressed or defensiveness (Jackie) is all I get. No follow through and worse, no shade. The lamp is worthless without the shade. Don't walk, RUN. I bought two expensive chairs for my roof top which were delivered in June of 2022 without the cushions or covers. We kept on being told they would be here soon. It is now March of 2023 and still no cushions or covers so the Teak chairs have been exposed to the Chicago winter without being able to use them yet with appropriate. They have offered to replace the chairs when the cushions are ready, so I give them credit for that. Now to the infuriating part. They for some reason have charged my credit card $2500 twice in February even though I did not purchase anything, and I paid my balance in June of 2022 for the chairs. I have called them several times (probably 10 times) and the designer has called as well. They have "escalated" this for it to be reversed but it has been a month and I now have a payment due. Every time I call, I get the runaround. I have now had to file a fraud claim on my credit card and get all new credit cards. I got "well we are really busy right now". Well, I am sure it doesn't take a month to charge someone's card when they actually buy something from your store. At this point I will never buy anything from this company again. They did not have what we were looking for, but promptly, politely, and professionally dealt with our query quickly when we entered the store! As a designer I can say their furniture is super comfortable and very reasonable in terms of cost, compared to custom goods at the mart. You save thousands at Mitchell Gold. I only wish they had a wider variety of everything and more! Excellent service, excellent deliveries and they are always on time UNLESS a fabric you chose is out of stock or on backorder. Keep in mind the fabrics are not made by their company but by others and they are dependent on those goods to make the frames. They plan to expand to Oakbrook which will be awesome for the western suburbs because they have too few choices out there. As an interior designer I give them 5 stars all the way for their upholstery. I'm not a huge fan of their hard case goods-but they are also priced okay so I give them 3.5 stars. I really like the furniture here. They've got kind of a modern mid-century feel. They have a ton of different fabrics to customize your upholstered items too. The quality seems to be on par with other stores at the same price range, and the space itself is really bright and airy. But the service, that's where they really excel. We went into the store a few different times to look for a bench for our dining table. After much debate, we ended up placing our order via email, which I was really happy about because I didn't want to make another trip to the store. Plus, they were having a sale (they do often so get on the email list), and if I had waited to go in, I would have missed it. Delivery was quicker than they estimated. I will start with a positive in that MGBW has beautiful designs- but unfortunately it stops there for me. I made the mistake of ordering things from them before and dealt with delays /lack of communication and now I am dealing with it again. I ordered bedroom furniture back in March- and the sales lady was giddy about the $10k order but unfortunately the service stopped after taking my payment. my furniture was supposed to arrive in June- that didn't happen (they never reached out to say it was delayed either - I had to call- in my opinion this isn't acceptable service when you spend $10k somewhere). Then I was told it would be Sept when I spoke to someone. I got a generic email from corporate saying my order was delayed - again not a professional move in my opinion- the least they could do is proactively reach out to customers to discuss the situation. I called again today - end of August to check on my order status (again no one from MG calling me proactively to discuss the situation) and they said my order has been delayed again to Nov. 8 mths and counting to delivery- save yourself the headache/hassle and shop elsewhere!!! read more

When a serviceman finally showed up he did not know what he was doing and could not fix desk after a wasted two hours of time. MG+BW is a little higher end and feels a tad more updated than C&B and R&B. Most of the furniture in my house was from C&B and R&B. When it was time to update a few pieces I was happy to find Mitchell Gold opened a store in Chicago. My main concern was picking durable fabrics that would withstand kids and a dog. I dealt with several sales people and they were all very helpful as I tried to make the right fabric/color decisions. We pulled lots of swatches and color combos. I took home swatches and measured carefully. They do offer in home design services if you spend over a certain amount - an in house designer will come out and help you put your room together. I didn't feel the need as I had a clear concept of what I was looking for - they also offer a discount if you are working with a interior designer but the designer needs to place the order. They also have seasonal promotions on items so you may want to wait until one pops up. I ordered custom pieces with a 6-8 week time frame for delivery. Right around 6 weeks my order was ready. The delivery crew was careful and competent. No complaints. There is a warranty on the fabrics for normal wear and tear - Every piece came with a warranty card with specific instructions on how to care for the furniture and what to do if something goes wrong. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the quality - they will fix or replace if something is not right - if you are abusing your furniture I'm sure that is a whole other issue. We've been happy with the quality and durability so far. If you like modern furniture I highly recommend. read more

Newly married and having gotten rid of all of our old furniture during a recent move, my wife and I had been trying to decide on a couch. We checked out all of the major stores (C&B, West Elm, Restoration HW, DWR -- Design within whose reach exactly?, etc.) and ended up stumbling upon this place. From the start, Jason was incredibly nice and helpful. After spending a good hour with us, we decided on a couch that was both sleek and modern, while being very comfortable. There are a ton of choices, and while the furniture is pricey, it has a lifetime warrantee and is built in NC. About a month after purchasing, we noticed they were having a 20% off sale. They will refund a price difference if the price goes down within 3 weeks of purchase, but we called a month after. Still, they made an exception and refunded us 20%!! They said it would take 8 weeks, ended up taking 5. Delivery scheduling was a breeze and the delivery folks were very nice and careful. They offered to help us move furniture around as well as the newly delivered couch. As far as the couch itself, we've only had it a few days but we love it. The material and finishings are all high quality and we know it'll last. We really couldn't be happier with the customer service and product! Bottom line, with MG+BW, you get what you pay for and then some. read more

The customer service when you are in the store is amazing. They are super helpful, not pushy, and take care of all the details. However, their delivery service and communication thereafter is poor, at best. They quoted me 3-4 weeks for delivery. At the end of week 5 I called to see where my delivery was. The customer service rep informed me that it was on backorder due to a quality issue. I was told they would call me back to let me know when to expect it, but never received that call. I followed up again and after a week was finally given a new window of time and they agreed to split up my delivery (per my request) to get my furniture early. When the first order finally arrived, they men brought the furniture in with zero protection on it. The side of my dresser now has a scratch on it. With all the hassle just to get it, I let it go but regret that now. The second order then came less than a week later when I was told it would't come for another month. If I would've known that it would come so fast, I wouldn't have split the orders up. Oh and their delivery service only offers delivery to Chicago 2 days a week - no weekends. What??? How does a fairly pricey furniture store have such awful follow-through and limited delivery windows. While I absolutely love the style and design for my new bedroom furniture, I am not sure I would order from Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams again frankly due to the customer service and delivery issues. read more

Nice looking furniture if a bit pricey. Purchased several items. One came without an extra set of drawer pulls it was supposed to have. No problem, right? Simply ship me the set I wanted and was supposed to have ASAP. Ha! Evidently even this type of request goes into the "queue", along with everything else. I just received them. Oh, how long ago were they ordered...2 1/2 months ago! Drawer pulls! 2 1/2 months to correct their mistake! Plus they were shipped FedEx snail from wherever they are. Nice customer service. I was in the store and saw a small side table that I wanted to purchase. They said it was not in stock and that I could not have the one on the floor. I would have to order it and have it delivered if I wanted it. So I went to buy it and noticed that the total was much higher than it was marked. They had added a $175 shipping fee! I said no, but I'd like to order it and pick it up at the store. They said that is not possible. So I would have to pay a $175 shipping fee for a $300 very small table. Be careful here. read more

I bought two swivel chairs as a part of their winter clearance event. Since it was part of the floor sale, I picked up the chairs myself the next day, and I love them! Not only that, but I also have to mention Ed - he was so nice and helpful - he helped get the chairs as close to the front doors as possible, which made it super easy to get them into the moving van. Review About Delivery Only: The furniture here is great. Quality products, great design, and interesting fabric options. The sales people are also very helpful and low pressure. We purchased a sectional here and are happy with it so far. I can still only give them 1 star though. Their delivery service has been a nightmare to work with. The sales people promised they could deliver to our condo building but the delivery people refused to do it. The delivery people then dropped the sectional off in our building basement on a day they were NOT scheduled to deliver it and then left. We eventually found a company to get the sectional into our unit but it took a couple of weeks to get it out of the building's basement. The delivery people also forgot to give us the connector piece. When we asked for it, they blamed us for losing it rather than admit that maybe they did something wrong. We then had to reschedule another delivery to get the connector and asked for a morning delivery. Of course the day before they said they couldn't make the morning delivery and would be there in the afternoon despite the fact that I wouldn't be home then. I can live with mistakes but they were so rude and condescending the entire time that I couldn't ignore it. From the delivery manager, to the delivery schedule person, to the delivery guys...not once did I feel like I was working with the same company where I bought the sectional. Despite being a high end store, their delivery service is about as bad as it gets. Maybe I'll shop at MGBW again, but not without a lot of searching for alternate options first. read more

While the furniture and our sales associate were great, the lack of coordination "after the sale" (once they had our money) left a lot to be desired. Our sales person Ed was fabulous in the store and despite floor sample sale he arranged ( or so we thought) for the store to hold the furniture for delivery early September. Next call was from shipping service saying we had to take immediate delivery, explained the situation and they presumably worked it out.......except here we are and now we cannot get delivery. I worked with Robert Young, who went above and beyond to help me with every aspect of my extensive renovation project. I don't know how MGBW got lucky enough to have him as an in-house designer, but I would never have been able to get my project done to the level I did without him. After seeing my space, he understood my style and needs and elevated my vision to a place I never imagined. I am so happy with the results and cannot recommend MGBW and Robert enough. It came timely (they did call and tell me one piece would be delayed but it ended up coming in on time) and the delivery was a piece of cake. Their designs and fabric are so much more stylish and up to date than Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn, yet the prices are very reasonable. Jason, one of their designer/sales people, worked with me and helped me pick out some fabulous pieces!! Highly recommended! And it's made in the US.
