I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Mitchell's Seafood. The service was painfully slow, and we waited over an hour just to receive our entrees. On top of that, the soups came out cold not once, but twice, which was frustrating and unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. To make matters worse, I found a hair in my mashed potatoes, which completely ruined the meal. I would never send any of my clients here or recommend this restaurant to other physicians. Excellent time at Mitchell's. We went early...they have Happy Hour but that's only available in the bar...we wanted a nice booth...so sat in the dining room. Great cocktail menu and wine list. Didn't get apps...but there's a good selection They have a "Two for $29.00" offer. Choice of 3 or 4 different salads and a choice of maybe 8 entrees. My first time coming here, brought my girlfriend for our two month anniversary dinner. Great experience!! Starting off, we got there an hour before close so we were latecomers however staff treated us as if we got there early. Huge shoutout to our server, Nick! He made sure we were perfectly taken care of. The interior of the restaurant leaves you with a warm welcoming feeling, and the lighting is great as well. We asked the bartender if they were open and he told us that we could have a seat at one of the tables and that he would call someone over. He looked very busy cleaning up behind the bar with another female employee. A blonde lady came by with menus and never returned to bring water or take our orders. My husband looked into the restaurant to see if he could flag down a server as we know we would probably have to place our order by 9:30 since they close at 10, The restaurant wasn't very busy either and after sitting there for over 10 minutes, we decided to get up and leave and just go somewhere else. Had dinner with my wife yesterday at Mitchell's. The service was attentive and good. Restaurant was not busy. The wedge salad was great. I had blackened salmon and my wife had seared Chilean sea bass. Both dishes were good. However, the spinach with the seas bass was a little under cooked. The mashed potatoes with the salmon were under seasoned. There were no salt or pepper shakers anywhere to be found. Also, "blackened" should mean some spice on the salmon. It was lacking and I would hardly call it "blackened". Still good though. Overall, nice dinner and good food that was under seasoned for my palette. read more

Tried the Berry Lemondrop that would be better called a SweetTart. Also tried the Up in Smoke. The smoked part was kinda lame for all of the fanfare at the table. I really want to like this place but I think it's on its way out. Was here on a Saturday at about 6/7 pm and it was DEAD. there were a handful of tables occupied at best and by the time we had finished and paid, we were the last table occupied in their capacious dining room. The bar area had a smattering of people in it but it's just not doing brisk business. It's in a great location and it's a very comfortable atmosphere- one of those places you could sit down at the bar for several hours and not miss losing that time. Food is decent and like that each day fish is brought in so it's not just sitting in a freezer in the back. Had the shrimp & lobster stuffed cod; perfect serving size with mashed potatoes but the broccolini was very tough. Overall good plate. They also make a very nice old fashioned. Let me start off saying, that I frequent the Livonia location, and I've yet to have a problem with their food. I was in Rochester Hills and decided to grab a bite to eat. I will first start by saying the waitress was nice and very kind, but could've been more knowledgeable with menu options and how things are prepared. The manager was also even less knowledgeable about how things are prepared. I ordered a drink and appetizer. I placed a specific order appetizer order (basically the same thing I get at the Livonia location) and it wasn't prepared the same. I'll be honest, the appetizer was disappointingly disgusting. The sangria was mediocre (tasted like flat wine with old fruit). The waitress/server was confused and tried to rectify the situation, however when the appetizer was brought back, it was worse than the first order. When I told the manager this isn't how the Livonia location prepares it, I was asked if I have a picture of what I normally order. I just happened to have one from a recent visit. The manager looked at the picture and said "hmmm, that DEFINITELY doesn't look like this" and asked if I wanted it re-done, I declined. When it came time to order my actual meal, that was even worse. Again, I don't blame the waitress, because the waitress didn't cook/prepare my food. Either the Livonia location needs to send THEIR cooks/sous chef to the Rochester Hills location or someone needs to go back to culinary school because it was disgusting. A gentleman came to the table saying he was the GM, which was interesting, because we didn't request anyone, but he was knowledgeable about our dislike for the food and experience. He was slightly apologetic but not to the point to offer a voucher towards another visit when the chefs learn how to cook or even take anything off the bill. He basically said he was there to get things in order, because there have been several guest complaints. I asked if he had a business card and he said know,because he was a traveling GM......interesting. Bottom line, my first time experience at THIS location was less than I would have ever expected. I'm hoping when I return to Livonia that the food is still delicious, because I I in all honesty can't see myself going back to the Rochester Hills location. We have gone to the Rochester Hills location many times we love going here for dinner or just appetizers and cocktails with our adult children. When my son and his bride selected Mitchells to hold a small wedding reception and we only had a week to plan something, I was a little worried, but we worked with the even coordinator to arrange a dinner for 21 guests for a wedding reception for 2/25/2025. We were scheduled into a private room that could hold up to 30 guests. Another personal touch the menus all had the Congratulations and the Bride and Grooms name on them, nice touch! The room was lovely the food was fantastic, and our servers Tyrone and Kristy were fantastic. They provided a personal touch to our event and my guests all felt welcomed and paid attention to. We had a business lunch and it was a good choice - very nice setting and plenty of parking available. Not super thrilled with the lunch menu but everyone found something they enjoyed. My co worker mentioned that they were a bit stingy on the chicken for her Caesar salad and she was still hungry afterwards - not great for a $20 salad. I had the chicken parm and it was a much better portion - only ate half and took the rest home. Our other two colleagues had seafood and were pleased with their picks.
