Made it just in time before they closed at 9!! Mitra's Cafe is located off Winchester & Murrieta Hot Springs Rd. Parking is meh... not very many spaces since there's a Panda Express, Pizzeria & a Taco Bell within the vicinity, so you might have to park far. I got the Mixed Koobideh Plate (1 ground beef & 1 chicken skewer), and you can choose 2 sides, so I opted for basmati rice and salad. Both protein choices were very good, vynikající!! Basmati rice is always good (i love, love, love that perfectly aromatic sweet scent of basmati rice), and salad was good, too!! That white yogurt sauce is fire!! I would give the food 5/5 stars! The beef koobideh kebabs are so juicy, flavorful, and delicious and the rice is fluffy and buttery. I also really enjoyed the fresh salad! This is a place I'd happily order takeout from but wouldn't want to dine in- the woman taking my order did not greet me, ask if I wanted anything to drink, or offer bags for the Persian candy I bought from the grocery store. Located in murrieta, kind of close to murrieta hot springs. We ordered a platter to serve 4-5 people. It was really delicious. We came here because they open earlier than other restaurants. For example, other places open at 11a but we had to pick up food and bring it to far away and needed to pick up 10:30a. They also have a pantry of Persian dry and canned foods. read more

Wow! There's literally a large sign outside the entrance that says they'll feed you if you are hungry even if you don't have any money. I'm really touched by how generous and compassionate the owners of this establishment are. If all humans were like this maybe world hunger wouldn't exist??? We've been looking for a good Persian (not Mediterranean!) restaurant since King Kabob in Lake Elsinore went downhill after the pandemic and eventually closed. Kabob Hut in Corona is usually pretty good, but still a bit of a drive. So after looking at reviews of Mitra's Cafe in Murrieta and seeing it was an authentic Persian restaurant, wife and I decided to give it a shot. Upon walking in, we noticed rather simple but quaint decor, unlike the fancy Persian restaurants in OC or LA. Brown chairs and tables lined a long narrow passageway to the end. A limited assortment of Persion goods were on the wall for purchase. A nice, elderly gentleman took our order, proceeded to cook the food, then served it to us at our table. I presume when we leave, he'll bus the table, and then wash whatever dishes remain. We both ordered the Beef Koobideh ($12.99- a great bargain in this economy). It came with 2 moderately sized grilled ground beef kabobs; basmati saffron rice (just enough, not a mountain on the plate like most Persian restaurants serve) ; and a romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber salad with Italian dressing. Kabobs were fresh off the fire (best way to eat them), well seasoned, and very tasty. Wife ( who is an expert on these types of kabobs), gave them a thumbs up. Rice was warm, soft, and buttery. Salad was fresh and crisp, and even the dressing was tasty- not too vinegary or lemony. All in all, a great meal for the price. I think I'll try the chicken next time. We will be back. read more

The pita bread was the best I've had anywhere, super light and fluffy with a hint of sweetness, loved how my gyros was cooked in coconut oil, and the tzatziki was also the best I've ever had hands down, light, fresh with larger chunks of cucumber, everything was so good, I was practically licking the plate! I came here because I love his sign out front and wish more people were like moe. I got the babagonoush veggie plate, large Greek salad and the falafel plate. The babagonoush was delicious so was the falafel the salad was fresh , I didn't care for the hummus myself but I like more olive oil and spices and less thick . But I'm sure many love it thick and not spicy or oily . The my husband loved the tzatziki' .
