I found out about Kan Zaman from a 1 star review of neighbor down the street, called Baba Ali, across from Lins Grand Buffet. Reviewer crtisized Baba because they had so little meat for so high a price $30 and that "bigger portions for cheaper prices can be found at Kam Zaman." So here I am. I love lamb and the moussaka lamb shank was recommended to me by my server Alejandra. $23 sounded reasonable to me. Besides the entry in the picture she gave me a basket filled with pita bread and brought me garlic butter and chopped Olive tapenade. I spread that inside the pita with the garlic butter and it was so delicious. I am taking the leftover pieces to put in my toaster oven and heat to crispy and spread the garlic spread and olive tapenade at home yum. I do not live in this area I come from San Diego and Scottsdale arizona. But I am selling my short-term vacation rental in Temecula Wine Country and I don't have any food there because it's not my home. So I found this restaurant through the bubba review. I tried them for the first time on Saturday the 2nd of April (2026). It was during an unscheduled stop in Murrieta and I usually go to Papa Feta in Temecula, one town over but decided to give this place a try and was not disappointed. We ordered: Chicken Mantar ($21): It comprised of sauteed Chicken with Mushrooms, Onions cooked in a Garlic sauce. It came with rice and was very flavorful. Eggplant Musakka ($23): This Eggplant dish was prepared in a Tomato sauce with fall off the bone Lamb shank and some garlic sauce. Accompanied with rice, it was also excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The only setback was that the food took almost 30 minutes to be served but the restaurant was fully packed. Service was also top notch. Our first visit to Kan Zaman definitely lived up to the hype. From the moment I called, Saif was polite, welcoming, and very accommodating. Placed a to go order after hearing so much about the place. Food was super expensive for what we bought. Ordered a lamb kabob medium well thinking obviously there would be some pink and it was so dry. Couldn't even make out the lamb taste and had to dip it in the hummus to be able to eat it. We didn't end up finishing it. Now the green chili hummus was great! They only give you one piece of pita bread for a huge amount of hummus so I had to order another piece and it still was not enough. Gyro meet was really good but did not come with any sauce on it! A fantastic restaurant that deserves the entire five stars. Best Mediterranean food in the area for sure. I'm not from Murrieta, but from what I've seen, the plaza is easy to park in and there are plenty of spaces. The concern is walk ins are usually not available. From what I've heard from my in laws, they usually wait for hours if they are doing a walk in. So, they've develop the habit of calling in to the restaurant to make a reservation. That way, they've develop can secure a table. The reservations last up until 9 pm since they close at 12 pm. We were seated fairly quickly, with such comfy chairs. The server was quick to assist us and she was very sweet. We were given filtered water through a glass bottle. We started our meal with an appetizer: pita bites. It wasn't what we were expecting, but boy, was it tasty! My mother-in-law ordered their beef shawarma, my father-in-law got their lamb shawarma, and my fiancé got Chef's Special Shawarma. Meanwhile, I ordered their lamb shawarma. We instantly regretted ordering an appetizer because their shawarma plates were HUGE. The meat was placed on a huge pita with basmati rice and a side salad. Needless to say, I was stuffed and couldn't make it towards the halfway point. The basmati rice was also fantastic alongside their garlic sauce (which was very strong) but super creamy. Amazing!!! This place is a 10/10!!! I can't believe we just discovered this restaurant. From the service, food and ambiance, everything was spectacular. Came in on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm. We did not make reservations but got lucky to get seated right away. The place was packed and now I know why. Saif was our server and was nice & very helpful. Wow! That is it... in a word. So impressed with this unassuming location that is a hidden gem in Murrieta. Very warmly decorated with nice furnishings as you walk in. Have eaten here twice. The service is amazing and the food is equally delicious! One of my favorite restaurants in the area. The first time we thought we were missing the rush by coming around 5:30 and nope, it was jammin'! For good reason. People know this place has good eats! I appreciate that they take reservations and that saved us the second time. The hummus is some of the best I've ever had. It's really smooth and flavorful. I love that they bring chopped jalapeños and olive tapenade to add to it. So delicious with the warm fresh bread they pop out! Consistency, excellence, efficiency and they show that they love what they do where it translates into everything from their service to their food. We arrived on a very busy Sunday and I noticed they consistently went out of their way to accommodate families despite their rather limited dining space. Very tasty Mediterranean/middle eastern fare in a great location. It was conveniently located in the plaza across the way from the Murrieta Hot Springs. While I was at the springs, I noticed a food truck rodeo that almost deterred me from visiting Kan Zaman, but I was not dissuaded. The restaurant is rather small, but has a very elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. The wait staff were very polite and efficient. I ordered the Tzatziki to start. It came with 2 pita which were very hot and fresh. They looked homemade, though I can't say for sure. But I have never seen pita in the shape they came before. A salad came with my order of Beef Kofta Kabob, and I really enjoyed the dressing with the added olives that I topped it with (from the pita basket). The Beef Kofta was delicious. I love that warm spiciness that feels like a grandmother hugging you. It's hard to explain - but the mix of spices were superb. The tzatziki was good too, but not anything particularly special. There is nothing bad to say about this AMAZING restaurant. We first visited this place during a family trip to the resort across the road. My wife and I decided to come back to our favorite Mediterranean place while visiting the resort again. We are Los Angeles County residents so this place is quite far from us. The visit here is always the cherry on top of our hot springs trip. It sits in a pretty run of the mill plaza right across from the main entrance of the Murietta Hot Springs Resort. The place is quite small but it packs quite a punch. The dining room feels like you are in somebody's house. It is warm and very welcoming. The service is top notch, I never had to ask for anything, the servers are always on top of every need you would have. They are attentive and very friendly. Finally.... The food! If I could give 10 stars I definitely would! The Lamb and beef kebab are as juicy as can be. The rice is perfectly seasoned (considering I don't like basmati rice). The appetizers are to die for (baba ganoush is my most favorite). The tomato soup is a 5/5, even their bread tastes like it came out of a brick oven. Mildly toasted but still soft inside. Most of the places I have tried have one thing going for them, they always have a star dish but fail on everything else. Kan Zaman successfully executes every part of the restaurant experience to a T. Ambiance, service, servings, food taste, food quality. This place was a surprise. When we walked in we were impressed by the style and ambiance, the terrific staff / service and above all, the food was top notch! The beer and wine menu feature unusual varieties, so we tried the Armenian beer and the Israeli Pettit Sirah- both were so smooth and good. I ordered 2 kabob plates - beef kafta and chicken shish kabobs, however, they lacked a bit of flavor and juiciness to it. Both kabobs were quite dry and possibly overcooked. Additionally, the rice-to-meat ratio, which I understand is standard to have a lot of rice here, was way too much considering the amount of protein you're getting. It could be a misproportioned dish since it was take-out, but regardless, there wasn't a lot of protein. The roasted tomato might have been my favorite part of the dish, but I wish it weren't the case since it was just a side for the dish.
