However, I wanted to try biological dentistry, so I made an appointment with this office for a free consultation. But there was no conversation about my overall health or a holistic approach. At that time the office workers were unable to give me a written estimate for the 2 cracked teeth and said they would call me later in the day. She called with an estimate of $903.24. I decided to go with this office and pay the extra $100 in order to try biological dentistry.The next visit went OK with a temporary crown provided for the two week wait, & I paid the total $903.24. For some reason, the filling on the second tooth was not done at that time. After 2 weeks I returned and the dentist spent a long time filing and fitting the permanent crown. However, when it was time to cement it in place, he didn't move quickly enough & set it up too high. Major error! I then needed novacaine so that he could drill and drill to get the misplaced crown out of my mouth! He needed to re-order another crown, and I needed to come back in two more weeks to repeat this process! After inserting another temporary crown, he put in the filling for the second cracked tooth. During the next two weeks I became uncomfortable and stressed about the same dentist (who made the mistake) trying again with the second crown. I called the office and asked if the partner dentist could put in the permanent crown this second time. The office worker argued that no mistake was made (!), but she did schedule me with the other dentist. Thankfully, he was able to professionally cement the second permanent crown properly in place. However, on my way out the office worker tried to charge me further. She again argued that no mistake was made! She couldn't come up with a bill and asked me to wait 10 to 15 minutes. I refused. Within another week the filling in the second cracked tooth totally fell out, so I called and left a voicemail stating what happened but that I was returning to my regular dentist to have the faulty filling replaced. What a fiasco! Two cracked teeth, two mistakes! And nothing holistic/biological about any of the visits! I was willing to simply walk away and never return... To my shock I received a further billing last week of $303.66! I called the office & the same disrespectful office staff argued that no mistake was made, that I had to pay more. She said she was the manager, so I asked for a dentist to call me back. No one has. HDS is working to resolve the matter, and I may proceed to RICO to report this injustice & malpractice. Unbelievable! My regular dentist doesn't claim to be holistic, but his work is precise and professional. His staff is polite and doesn't try to overcharge. I'm grateful.

Dr. spends time talking to us about how we're doing and what's new in our lives. It's nice that they care. He is thorough and answers any questions that I may have. In this case, my favorite dentist, Dr Emory Young, my favorite office peeps and my all-time, iron-clad, extremely caring and talented dental hygienist Suzie! I was there yesterday for a cleaning before I dashed off to a fancy gala event. Since I last wrote my review, I must admit I have strayed to another dental location out of sheer laziness and not wanting to drive to town...big mistake! I don't want to bad-mouth (get it, 'mouth'?) the other dental office but let's just say I wasn't very impressed. Once you've had a really stellar experience it's hard to expect anything less. Should I break it down for you? Honesty: my mouth had fallen prey to a dishonest dentist who ruined my teeth promising and assuring me that capping all my teeth with crowns was a good idea, even if my teeth did not need crowns. Ever since he messed me up, I've needed gum surgery and root canals. Dr. Emory Young is the total opposite, he won't try to sell you things you don't need. You'd think dentists are supposed to be honest but watch out for the ones who tell you your whole mouth should be crowned. Communication: Dr. Emory is great at it. He will explain everything in plain English. Maybe he'll tell you about his surfing experiences or his smart talented daughter too. He's easy to talk to and makes you feel at ease. You can ask him anything and he'll give you a straight answer. He always makes me laugh, and that is hard for a dentist to do (childhood trauma with dentists...gives me nightmares) Awesome cleanings: I'm not just saying Suzie is the best on the island because I've been going to her for years, but because I've had my teeth cleaned by other (ahem) dental offices that don't really do such a thorough job. I've had one hygienist tell me "wow your teeth are so clean" and proceeds to rush through the cleaning because, apparently my teeth are so clean they don't need deep cleaning? She also told my husband the exact same thing so I'm thinking she tells everyone the same thing? Clean or not, you'll get your money's worth with Suzie. She will take the time to examine your face from the outside in. She actually found an abcess on my gum on a routine cleaning that was painless but turned out to be a huge deal. If it wasn't for Suzie I may have lost the tooth. Ease in making appointments: Suzie has Saturday cleanings too!
