While limited, you can still choose very special rolls such as Rainbow Maki, double salmon or sunset maki (the one I got). The staff was very friendly and generous about the redemption, who also carefully packed your free rolls in a beautiful box, ready for you to enjoy. The maki itself was super delicious, which had actual crab meat in it. I was very surprised when I bit into it as I was expecting imitation crab or some sort. Sashimi: atlantic salmon - pretty standard. some very sloppy knife work though, with uneven pieces and random thin belly pieces Tuna - looked like maguro, ahi, albacore - tasteless sadly. Heavy on the tempura batter though which got soggy fast. very one-dimensional. All you taste is avocado and mayo. 2.5/5. salmon lover roll - this is a bigger roll with spicy salmon inside and on top. Heavy on the mayo, also one dimensional. 2.5/5. Crazy Crab roll - this is a roll with imitation crab+mayo inside, then with a mound of more imitation crab+mayo stacked on top of each roll slice. This was just gross. You might as well spoon a jar of mayo and eat some imitation crab sticks. 1/5. Not a single bit of real crab in this. there were 3 pcs of california roll (with a chunk of more imitation crab stick in it typical of Toronto rather than the mayo crab salad in other places) and 3 pcs of spicy tuna roll. Both average for this type of place, 2.5/5. Soba noodles - the noodles were the dry kind they cooked and to my surprise it was not overcooked - texture was pretty good as far as dry noodles go. The sauce was served in a bowl made of ice. A bit of green onion and wasabi on the side. They completely forgot to give us utensils and dishes but brought the food out so we just sat there watching the ice melt into our soba sauce until they came after the 3rd reminder. They seemed overwhelmed and understaffed. Plenty of free parking out front in the plaza. The restaurant itself is clean enough but their seating arrangement is odd. They have dividers making it look like booths but really they are just chairs around a table. A bit awkward to climb in and out but doable. They do offer really big portions of food and you wont leave hungry. Overall, the quality here is severely lacking if you want decent quality sushi. It isnt dangerous though - nothing was foul or rotten/gone bad. Nothing about the sushi here is remotely authentic. If youve had good authentic sushi from Japan or sushi mecca's like LA or Vancouver, you will be appalled at what they serve here. But if you want typical "westernized" sushi then this place is similar to a typical AYCE sushi joint, except its not AYCE. I cannot recommend this place. I can safely say I will never be back here again.

The fish is fresh and the service is good. Hug Sushi has never let me down before and I actually do prefer them over other takeaway sushi restaurants in the area. We were told that a booster seat was available, but staff refused to provide it because it was being held for another reservation that was expected to arrive later. As parents of a young child, we found this unacceptable. A family already seated in the restaurant should not be denied a basic child-safety accommodation in favor of a future reservation. Rather than trying to find a solution, staff made us feel unwelcome and dismissed our concerns. This was not about special treatment. It was about providing a safe seating option for a toddler while we were dining. Customer service and common sense were both lacking during this visit. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to families with young children. I hope management reviews its policies and provides better training on how to handle situations involving child safety and family customers.

I imagine it would be difficult to roll them tightly and pieces either fell apart or was difficult to fit in a bite. Personally, I'd prefer smaller pieces although it's clear that they are very generous. - Presentation: rolls were fit snug. This was an issue because they would stick to one another and cause them to break apart. A bigger containers with more spacing should fix this issue. - The rolls were drizzled in their special sauce which was tasty but it also caused all the rolls to taste the same. Overall great! I'd come back and try their sushi and sashimi. I trust the quality of their fish and to me, that's the most important aspect of any sushi bar.
