Easily the worst hibachi ever. Apparently the last time we came and I ordered the hibachi and didn't like it. I said "Me? Not like hibachi chicken?, No" I love hibachi. Not this hibachi though. It was sooo plain! The vegetables weren't the typical hibachi veggies and they barely had sauce. The rice I think is just rice and not fried. I took it home and spruced it up.

Three "different" kinds of spicy rolls (shrimp, salmon, and I think it's either crab or tuna)

Third and last time we eat there (we really wanted to give it a chance since it's the only sushi restaurant in town). Service is very good and kind, but the food is just not good enough. When you ask for three different rolls and they all look and taste the same, there is a problem. It seems like any "spicy" whatever roll will be filled with a mix of left-over tempura crumbs, spices and microscopically minced something. Bad taste, terrible texture, low quality sushi for sure. Saving Grace of the restaurant are the servers, that's it. The picture below shows three different types of rolls, believe it or not.

It was a dark and stormy night and traffic was backing up on I-35. We had already been on the road far too long and the thought of getting home was foremost on our minds. Given the traffic situation, we determined that having dinner was the better part of valor, so we pulled of in Faribault. You are not going to believe this place. Seriously, we ALL need restaurants like this in our lives. The mood was lively, the decor was bright and the staff was very friendly. We were seated immediately and soon forgot all about the traffic. Because I had a feeling that I'd be taking the wheel, I ordered hot tea. It was really... well, you need to be a tea drinker to fully appreciate. It was a high-quality green tea matcha, which was very warming after a day of driving in the rain. It was served in a cup like you'd get at a friend's home; large and hand-friendly. Our server Winnie kept my mug full throughout service, which felt like a hug from the inside. The menu is HUGE. We had a very hard time making a choice, finally settling on Pad Thai for The Hubster and Shrimp Curry for myself. The food was prepared expertly and arrived pretty quickly for a busy kitchen. There was a lot of shrimp in my curry; sweet and perfectly cooked. There were a lot of veggies as well, something that I really enjoy when I'm traveling (I know, I'm weird). The meal was very reasonably priced, given the quality ingredients and generous portions. If we were local, we'd probably eat here every week.

....Naw. For me, it's just the typical Chinese restaurant that tries to reach beyond Chinese cuisine into Japanese and Thai but doesn't execute it well. It's not horrible, but not great either--just "bleah". The staff are attentive and the orders come out quick so no complaints there. I ordered the pad thai and it was so... wet and gooey? Nononono Huge fail there. I wish more restaurants would stop serving pad thai if they can't get it right, it's not a simple dish to make and so many places get it wrong. Just stop. I also ordered the tako and tamago sushi--nothing to write home about, and for the price they charged me for ONE piece, I should've just gone to Kado no Mise in Mpls. I've been to Thailand and Japan, but you can just go eat at any of the authentic Thai and Japanese restaurants in the Twin Cities to know the dishes served here do not come close to the real thing. On the other hand, my coworker ordered the steak hibachi and loved it--fried rice, steak and veggie stir-fry. She's easy to please. Yay for her. Boo for me. 2 stars--one, for speedy customer service and two, my coworker really loves this place. I won't be back though.

Although I'm fond of giving out lots of stars, I don't hand out many 5-star ratings. This restaurant has actually re-set the standard, and yes, it's located in lil' ol' Faribault. We brought our mother here to celebrate Mother's day, and she has some problems with mobility. The staff saw us coming, and were immediately there to open the door and get us a table and Mom seated. They even found a place for her walker so that it would be close if needed but not impeding the flow of traffic in the restaurant. Mom had been there before which is why she wanted to go there, and wanted to order the "Love Boat". This is a huge Viking Ship which feeds 4, but we still ordered a Spicy Girl Roll also, on the side, which came before the ship arrived. The staff was extremely accommodating to our party, and our mom has some issues with swallowing so coughs/chokes a lot, which is "normal" for us to handle, but they expressed great concern and were quick with extra napkins and checking in to make sure all was well; I can't say the same with other places in that area. And then our Love Boat arrived in port and came to dock. Wow. The presentation was such a work of art, we could hardly dare to eat it! But eat it we did, and the sushi was fresh and succulent, the colors were vibrant, the flavors...oh the flavors and the textures! It had started with the crunchy Spicy Girl as such a teaser but this ship...oh my goodness! We could barely finish it, and we all four had healthy appetites and had purposefully had very small lunches and could barely finish this culinary profusion of beauty. You can't see it in the photo, but the glass was lit and changed colors, so even when we did finish, there was beauty to behold even within the tattered ruins of julienned garnishes and bare decks. You would do well to make the trek to this locale to dine upon such subliminal art, and I recommend the Sapporo as a perfect accompaniment if you imbibe, to bring out the full flavor of the delicate feast. What are you waiting for? As of this posting, you've got a 3 day weekend! GO!

Excellent food, the service is ok. But the water is horrible. Their staff are very friendly.

The food and service was good. Clean facilities. I think it's a bit expensive, but probably normal for the area. Worth trying.

The food was ok and when you order Tempura it should be Tempura batter not corn meal so say something if it's not kosher -

The menu is limited. We got the Mapo tofu mazemen, which is this brothless ramen with a Mapo tofu blend, mushrooms, eggplant, tofu, and doubanjian blended together. I wish we could see some of the distinct ingredients alone besides the tofu as it was a bit too blended for me. I liked how unique this ramen was!! The chicken karaage basket had the most addicting trio of sauces - yuzu mayo, nori ranch; and honey mustard. The yuzu mayo was so light and citrusy, and I could practically drink the nori ranch. The fries were shoestring and perfectly crispy. The issue lies in the chicken karaage - it almost felt burnt, and it was quite dry inside. The chicken age gyoza were yummy. I did love the crispness and the tangy kamikaze dipping sauce! Service is efficient!

My group made sure to have a reservation anticipating that there would be lots of people and thank goodness we did. Those that went as walk ins had a wait time of 90+ minutes. When we arrived, we were promptly seated and ordered food right away as we knew what we wanted. We got an order of NHK (spicy chicken karage) and it was the perfect appetizer to gear us up for our entree. The Tonkotsu Ramen was so rich and fulfilling, the broth had an incredible umami flavor to it and the noodles had the perfect texture to it. The staff were all so friendly and attentive to what our needs were. I want to congratulate the staff at Zen Box Izakaya for an incredible 20 year run, we'll miss them greatly
