Our host was very polite and accommodating, there was light music on, and our drink order was taken. The owner Lucinda made herself available for questions about the menu. My partner asks for a special chicken soup flavored with lemongrass that was made for her "delicate" tummy, with added cabbage, that Lucinda had recommended, and has remembered every summer we come here during our travels from Texas. I've ordered different items but keep coming back to sushi/sashimi, and a takeout order of their exquisitely delicious Chicken Curry. We have yet to try Teriyaki anything, or Soba anything, but eventually some years later we might stray from the orders that keep us coming, and will continue to keep us coming!

When we left my mom, unbeknownst to me, went to the owner and advised her to not mix the meat and veggies for vegetarians. The owner asked if "I had told the cook I was vegetarian." I did not because they took the orders before the cook started doing his thing. And when you see "veggie" on the order I assume that automatically means "do not mix with meat". The owner fixed me a plate of rice and veggies and gave it to my mom. My family enjoyed themselves so I was happy enough but would have given this place a 3-star rating because I was only able to eat rice. The fact that they cooked me a meal after the fact means they are listening and apologetic and earned a 4-star. The owner said from now on their cooks will cook veggie plates separate from meat plates. Guess I'll find out if that's true during my visit this year. :)

They charge a 33% uplift for all-you-can-eat dinner, at near-zero value-add. I know this because I went in, had the dinner, and found out at bill time it was uplifted over lunch... simply by virtue of being dinner. I understand that "dinner", time-wise, tends to mean different portion sizes in other contexts, different staffing levels, it's where you make your money unless you are a bar, etc. And in this case they broaden the menu slightly, adding sashimi as an option. I'm not a chef but I'm thinking that takes less labor to produce than about anything else. On the flip side of that, I'm sure sashimi, if someone was determined, is the fastest avenue for the restaurant to burn through material cost... if someone came in for three hours eating sashimi 5 pieces at a time and got away with it. That's the risk of running any all-you-can-eat offering - sometimes the bull, sometimes the horns. The food, cleanliness, staff etc is, without question, great.
