Pretty sure they used to give you a free meal on your birthday with only one paying adult, but now they require two paying adults to accompany you. As always, make sure to bring your ID. Service is nothing special. Bare minimum. Didn't even get a smile. Still, I like the selection of foods here. Expect a busy, somewhat noisy restaurant. Can be fun to people watch. Went in on a Monday evening to celebrate my daughter's boyfriend's birthday. It was about 5:30 p.m. and not busy at all. Today was a hot 98 degrees outside. We start eating and it started to feel like 98 degrees in restaurant! Very uncomfortable. Food trays was slow to be re-filled. Went to get some cooked oysters and there were three empty oyster shells for the whole time we were there. Sashimi tray with salmon, ahi tuna, and tilapia had three pieces oh tuna, which I got right away. I was going to get the nigiri ahi but it looked disgusting! Looked like it had been out for awhile, and not at serving temperature. Went back for more sashimi twice and no new dish on the platter! I don't understand why they couldn't keep up because it wasn't busy. Same with the fried blue crab, and same with the rice noodles. So I decided to have dessert after waiting about fifteen minutes because it was so warm in there. I go to get jello, and there's no orange or red jello! At this point I am angry and we went to the front to pay the bill. I made a comment that maybe we should get 20% off because most of the food was not re-filled in a timely manner. I told the cashier my experience about going back two or three times to empty food trays. I mentioned my experience with the sashimi and she said they only served that on weekends. Her co-worker corrected her that they served it at dinner. I said that if I go back to get food two or three times, and there's no food, there is a problem. The cashier asked what I wanted and what she could make for me. I said it was too late, and that my expectation is to have the food ready to eat when I go there. She started to get defensive and said that I should notify the waitress if I wanted something in particular. I told her to take what I have to say how she wanted , and to try and correct what I explained to her. If a business advertises a seafood buffet, then all of their food should be replenished in a timely manner, and not make it seem that if they wait a little longer, the customer will forget. And, if a customer complains, stop making BS excuses and have those dishes available. Or say that some dishes may not be available and lower your price. To be fair, the other food that was served was good like the snapper chips and salt pepper shrimp. This used to be our go-to place, and we drive from Salem to eat here. Not anymore. Our family frequents local buffets in the area. I will critique each of them. Mizumi is a favorite one for the kiddos, well, I should say they enjoy all of the buffets because they all serve similar dishes and are different in minimal ways. But there are specific reasons we like each. Mizumi is good because they have beef ribs (bone in). One of the only buffets with beef ribs. So juicy and full of flavor. Their fruits selections are good too in the salad bar. The service is friendly and the stay engaged. 4.5 stars. read more

We went to Mizumi buffet and were very underwhelmed. Like any buffet the food is plentiful but did not seem incredibly fresh. Our waitress did not speak English, and could not understand us. After asking the sizes between small and large, she brought us a large of one of the drinks. It wasn't what we wanted to order but we didn't say anything because we felt the effort would be useless. Overall, the meat was overcooked and over battered and the sushi was dry, with a strange, well water taste on some of the rice. The dessert option seems like they were frozen. What I will compliment them on is that the place was very clean for the amount of people who were there. We do not plan to return, but could maybe see the appeal for those on a stricter budget or those with a large family who don't have time to cook at home. read more

The food here didn't taste that great. The warm food was cold and the sushi was warm when it's supposed to be cold at a certain temp so as to not make anyone sick. The service was minimal at best and we didn't get refills on our drinks or asked if we wanted more until we were leaving. The ambiance seems as though they welcome lots of different kinds of people and it was pretty quiet for the most part. Crab was a little over cooked but the crawfish and oysters were pretty good with lots of turnover. Decent selection of other foods including noodles, sushi rolls, nigiri, stir fried dishes, beef ribs, etc. Arrived on a Friday at around 630 and was seated immediately for a table of 5. Tables filled up but didn't appear to be much of a wait through out the evening. I felt like the pricing for kids was fair as it was age dependent (1.79 per year). What is the deal with buffet dinners being more pricey than buffet lunches anyway? I just tried this out one time - so - I'll probably go back to try the grill and some more of the buffet foods I didn't try. We went this week and the service was ok. The food was pretty boring and bland. The selection leans toward fried foods. I was too scared to try the sushi that has raw fish so I only tried the cooked food sushi - tamago and inari - they were good. The soups were good. The place itself seems very clean and tidy so that's a major plus! There are competitors that do this better so I have a hard time giving this more than 2 stars. Cheap Asian buffet. Usually at these places, both the Chinese food and sushi is suspect. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Chinese food. I didn't have a ton of sushi but what I had was definitely decent and passable. They had bbq short ribs that were awesome. Produce was fresh. And best of all, they had a Mongolian BBQ area as well, which you can't go wrong with. I gave four stars instead of five for three reasons. One, the meat and sauce options at the Mongolian BBQ are a little underwhelming. Two, they didn't have much in the way of Chinese tea. Three, I saw them just dumping fresh food on the old food. I came for the first time on my lunch break. This place was just what I expected except much cleaner than any other buffet style Asian restaurant. I don't know if this was just because it was lunchtime or what. There was a decent lunch crowd and the staff was attentive. If you like crab puffs this place has really really good ones. They also have hibachi!!!!!!!! The sushi assortment was also a fabulous addition, they have all kinds of different roles from nigiri to dragon rolls etc and including vegetarian rolls. They also had three different types of soup, I tried all 3. Wasn't a huge fan of the hot and sour but the miso and egg drop were great! For the price this place is GREAT. read more

There is somewhat of a good variety of food, but I started to run out of things I wanted to eat by the second round. With a Groupon, the price is an even better value. Had a family gathering for my birthday. Each person was paying for themselves. I let our ONE server know that I was paying for me and 4 others. We had to ask multiple times for drinks. She rarely came to the table to check for refills, clear plates, etc.. When it was time to go, she was charging me for someone who already paid. Kept insisting that I needed to pay for that person. Despite everyone telling her she had already paid. Charged me for three drinks and not two, three of us had water. Went back a couple weeks later, same girl was very rude to me while I was standing at the grill. Kept telling me to go sit down and come back in 5 minutes. I was actually talking to thr grill person at the time and waiting on him to give me a bowl of teriyaki. There is one guy who is a sever who is WONDERFUL. Very attentive and polite. I would say this is a solid buffet with good quality. I mainly like to go for dinner or weekends so i can enjoy the nigiri offerings that they have. I find the salmon nigiri and sashimi to be especially good and with no other all you can eat options, provides the best bang for the buck. The crawfish and crab legs are good as well. I took my wife to this place as I was very pleased with the atmosphere, food and hospitality. There was a great selection of food and the staff were all very attentive and helpful. The food selection was great! It had just about every type of dish that I usually go for when I eat at an Asian restaurant. The price is sooo much better than their neighbor (Mongolian BBQ) and their selection as well. Wish I had been paying attention to this place more. When we get there they told me that they wouldn't take reservations online and that we have to wait for a table and the line was quite long because of Father's Day's. I went there with friends for Friday night dinner last year. It was awful. They cannot keep up refilling their food. They claimed they serve Dungeness crab, but they are smaller than my hand. Anyways, it was quite unpleasant last year. But yesterday's lunch was totally different. The wasabi has a really weird green color though. Hot food got some good and bad stuff. The good stuff are both the deep fried fish and spicy fish, vegetables tempuras, chicken wings(crunchy outside and juicy inside, I can't tell if they're deep fried because it's not very oily), Mongolian beef, sautéed shrimps, string beans and stir fried veges. The bad stuff: old crab salad and seaweed salad, very bland mushrooms, tasteless and sandy clams, dry chicken skewers, bland hot and sour soup and cocktail shrimps but no cocktail sauce. I had so many chicken wings that I have no room for desserts. But they got 4 types of desserts and lots of fruits to choose. This place is cheap but please don't have too high of an expectation. I just found food either really dry or yucky. They do have lobsters. Chinese cooked style. And also it's old aged lobster so meat is really rough. There are times I had difficult swallowing the food. Yes because it was yucky. Just don't know how to get it down. This place is Chinese ran. So not real Japanese food. I came because I just wanted sushi. It's good with big group. All my friends all agree that you can't expect too much for $15 per person for dinner. They have snow crabs. We were group of 10 people went to this restaurant on mother day and at first we asked if we could book a reservation. The gal said first come first serve so we waited outside until our family arrived and then got in line to wait for a table. However, they took a group of 10 people behind us in first, and my husband came to tell them we were first. The gal said sorry for this, but there was an old Asian woman with glasses standing and said why don't we say anything when they took that group in, "y'all have mouth and always can speak up". Excuse me but WHAT?? It is so ridiculous and I only stayed just because my family drove from far away. This is the most disgusting customer service ever. I can no longer believe that foods of Portland are delicious and excellent. Foods of Portland are joke. It was like chewing a tire or jerky when I was eating a dungeness crab. I never thought the food at restaurants around Portland area would be so dirty and coarse like this. Employees were impolite and service felt rushed despite it being 4:00pm on a Wednesday. They have sushi and the crab had a good flavor, but overall the food is just mediocre. Some of the food was cold despite being under heat lamps. For the price, I would just choose a decent restaurant and get some really good food rather than come here. read more
