We frequently go to other Chang's locations, but this was our first time at this particular location. We definitely noticed a higher level of customer service at this location. There were 10 people in our group (9 adults, 1 toddler/ high chair). They quickly pushed some tables together and seated us. A server immediately took our drink and soup orders. By the time we went through the food line and got back to our table the server had brought our drinks, soup, rice and wrappers. As we ate, the server checked on us a couple times to refill beverages and remove dirty dishes. Then a different server came and asked who wanted icecream (vanilla soft serve, with choice of chocolate or caramel syrup). The only disappointment was they didn't have shrimp or fish (all the other locations do) since it was a Saturday afternoon. Still, a good value. read more

The absolute best restaurant , I've been to almost of the Changs in the near by area but by far this one is my favorite one to come too. The staff is absolutely wonderful and so lively and welcoming they really go above and beyond , The cooks are also so kind. The food is delicious and the food bar is always so full and tidy! This place was recommended by Korean Mama on Instagram so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! The meat pork, beef, chicken,lamb or tilapia and lots of vegetables all were very fresh. You mix your bowl with anything you want, add sauces. The grill person cooks it up for you right in front of you. We had an awesome waitress she helped us with suggestions since it was our first time. The meal also comes with soup, rice and rice wraps. After dinner you get a choice of 2 different sundaes. This place was very clean. I liked that they had someone wiping down around the buffet right after you made your bowl. Have only gotten to go orders so I'll speak from that experience. Great value, I usually get 3 meals out of one to go order. The food is great if you spice it right. I've found putting extra sesame/hot oil helps bring out the flavors. You also get a generous portion of soup, a pint of rice, and rice papers (you've gotta try them). Look forward to trying the AYCE, not going to be the value of to go but would be nice to try out different combinations of protein, veggie, and sauce. read more

The wife and I come here all the time. As soon as we sat down with our food this evening, my wife started feeling ill unfortunately. I tell the waitress to box up the food and I would pay for what we already cooked up. The waitress would only box up one meal and not the second for whatever reason. What a dizzy fool... How does it make sense to only box up the one I was already eating, but not to box up my wife's that wasn't even touched? Not only did your waitress lose you money for the second meal, she just lost Mongolian Grill a long time regular customer as well. A valuable lesson was learned last time I came here. Do not eat dine-in for dinner. That is unless you don't mind spending quite a bit of money for average food. For a family of 4, we spent around 130 (after tip). They don't even let you take it to go! We didn't realize it was all you can eat, but realistically, after a single big bowl, the sides they give you and drinks, who is getting more than one serving?? The smart play is to get it to-go. They only charge you for one bowl. Regardless, the food isn't that tasty and unless you are a wizard at mixing your sauces, it's pretty bland for the price. For the price we could have had a nicer family meal at a more upscale place, where you don't essentially make your own food. Pretty sure this is the last time we will ever go here. read more

Just discovered this place this week, and as a lover of Mongolian grills, I have to say I was pretty pleased with this. Overall solid service, and the selection of meats and veggies is quite good. I'm used to these kinds of grills having a "house bbq" sauce, so missed that and it took two trips through to get the right combination of sauces. Otherwise, we liked having the wraps/pancakes as well as the ice cream at the end. Good experience and will be back regularly. read more

Being away from my second home in Beaverton means that I miss this place the most. Wonderful food and exceptional service from all the employees and owner here (take my insight as the most introvert person you will ever meet. I don't open up much, but I will notice how people treat me). Okay enough of the sentimental, here is how the place run: (1) you come checked in to get a table, (2) pick out the food that you want (noodles, meat, vegi) into two different plates (because the plates run small), then (3) choose your sauces (and put into your plates), before (4) coming to the cook, and have he cooks for you. It's a buffet (all you can eat), but the food selection is not that big. It's basically these foods: lo mein, flat rice noodles, pork, beef, chicken, lamb, shrimp, salmon, tilapia, mini corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, broccoli, green beans, green onions, cilantro, oils, soy sauce, lime juice, liquid sugar/salt, and teriyaki (located in a squeeze bottle instead of where all the other foods are). You put what you want in a small bowl, bring it to the cook who cooks it on a large stone slab, places it on a plate, then you bring it back to your table to eat. You can get up to get more helpings. Prices were expensive, but I'm giving the place 5 stars because service was excellent. Usually at buffets, the servers don't do anything but seat you at your table. But an employee here came to our table multiple times to make sure we had everything we wanted. Included in the price are the following things brought to your table: white rice, thin wraps, a bowl of soup for each person (either egg flower or hot and sour), a bowl of vanilla soft serve ice cream at the end of the meal. Came here after a late trip to Home Depot and was hungry for some meat and veggies. I haven't been to Chang's in awhile. This particular location was convenient for me. The inside was pretty big and very clean. I like that they had a good selection of veggies to choose from. The main thing is what sauces you put in the food will determine how it tastes. Alright going there for first time. Very friendly staff. Egg flower and hot & sour soup were mediocre. Food- they will cook what you pick from the buffet table. Lot of non veg and veg items to choose. Most of them are frozen. Only 2 types of noodles available which is fine though. Sauce options are great. Just try hot oil if you want make it real hot. Bowls are unlimited. I felt it's bit too pricy for kids as they charge 5 and above. For others , it's great. We went there for dinner but arrived early that all of the food was freshly prepared - as this is a buffet style I wouldn't recommend eating there too late. Man do I love going here. I always tell everybody the only reason you wouldn't like this places is because YOU made your own plate wrong! Because Chang's Mongolian grill is completely customizable and you choose everything and anything that goes on your plate. It's really a great deal for your dollar. You're able to go get food as many times as you would like and it comes with unlimited rice wraps, rice, and soup! For some reason I love their water there it just taste so fresh. Their staff has always been extremely friendly. And their restaurant has been kept clean and tidy. I've been coming here for a while and I see myself coming here for as long as I can. And before I forget to mention, I know every place has dessert. BUT THIS PLACE INCLUDES THE ICE CREAM IN THE PRICE!! I know I can't be the only one excited for something sweet after my meal! You're offered vanilla ice cream with either caramel drizzle or chocolate drizzle personally I would go with the caramel but hey they don't stop you if you want to get both! We decided to have lunch at 1:00pm on Saturday May 8th, 2021. The blonde hostess was very rude, from the moment we walked in the blonde hostess was already glaring at us because we had a bigger group. When directing us to the table she didn't communicate thoroughly on where we could sit, giving us an attitude when we almost sat on a table next to our group. Our family flew from Hawaii to try out this place because other Chang's locations we have gone to had amazing service. The staff that was helping my cousin with adding sauces gave him a dirty look because he had questions about the sauce and how it works, it was his first time! They have a good a selection of meats, and veggies. Their selection of oils are nice too. I just wish they had curry as an option. But that's neither here nor there. Just a personal preference, lol. I like that they offer free soup, rice, and ice cream at the end! Every waiter we've gotten has always been super friendly! I have to preface by saying that this was the first time I have been to a Mongolian Grill, let alone a Chang's Mongolian grill in probably 15 or so years. For some reason I just remember never being that crazy about the outcome of any of my experiences, so needless to say I have avoided them for quite some time. My girlfriend and I ended up checking out this Chang's on 2/5/19; she's a big fan of Mongolian grill, and she finally got me to cave and give it another shot after all these years. To say my opinion of Chang's and Mongolian grills in general have changed would be a great understatement. We had an excellent meal that was full of flavor and tasted delicious. I'm a realist and know that it would be unfair to compare this to many other restaurants that Portland has to offer, but I'm grading it on what I would expect from other places along this line and/or this price point. Overall, the ingredients [especially the veggies] were pretty good quality, the stations were clean the staff made sure they weren't running out of anything, the waitstaff was very pleasant and attentive, and the grill chef they had did a great job and was clearly very meticulous. The only downsides I would say is that my meal was drowned in too much hot oil (however that was completely my fault, not theirs, haha), and I was kind of bummed I wasn't able to take what was left on my plate. The ice cream is really nothing to write home about, and I would probably pass on that the next time. I wish I had followed my gf Rosie's sauce combination that she has perfected over time....I probably would have saved myself from my self induced oil bath. In case anybody is curious, this is what she does, and it is pretty stellar: 1 bowl for meats, 1 bowl for veggies/noodles. Total sauce to put between the both of them is as follows: 2 Soy Sauce, 2 Sesame Oil; 2 Hot Oil; 1 Garlic (I like 2, but that's personal preference); 1 Ginger, 1 Oyster Sauce; 1 Cooking Sheery; 1 Lime. APPLE PAY!! Pretty much everyone is familar with the mongolian grill concept, and Chang's is the one that most often comes to my mind. We've been to most of them in the area at one time or another, the first being the one at the now defunct Tanasbourne shopping center. That's way back when dinner at Chang's was $7.95. Today's price is a still-reasonable $14.95, and except for the associated sodium, is a very healthy meal sans rice, noodles, wraps, and complimentary chocoloate or butterscotch-covered vanilla ice cream. We find service to be sufficient, but tonight got a server that had personality-plus. It was a pleasant change from the typically robotic service we usually get at Chang's. The restaraunts are usually clean with rare exceptions (I'm looking at you, downtown Chang's). Suffice it to say Chang's gets it done when inexpensive, easy, and healthy are the keywords. Just be smart about the ingredients you mix and easy on the soy sauce. And last but not least, nor any less important, Chang's takes Apple Pay! Bon appetit! read more
