Employees were impolite and service felt rushed despite it being 4:00pm on a Wednesday. Decor, dishes, and furnishings are reminiscent of the 90s hole-in-the-wall restaurant this place likely once was - and not only has their food quality not changed since then, I wouldn't be surprised if they were still serving their inventory from then as well. Let me just say, I had already eaten a piece of the lobster claw that looked like jerky BEFORE realizing the other claws looked petrified mold...that's how it looked....I was beyond disgusted and was hesitant to continue eating other food on the buffet. Didn't even think lobsters could even look like that! Honestly, I shocked no one else has complained or sick from eating this??? I decided to try the other options and most everything was just blah, bland, and greasy. A lot of the food was lukewarm, nothing was hot, even though you can see steam between the metal pans. We really enjoyed our lunch here earlier today. My gf was craving sushi and I'm always content with Chinese/American fare. The food was much better than we were expecting. I rarely give above 3 stars for any buffet, but this food was really tasty and hot. They have more sushi than at least 90% of other Asian buffets in the are. I really enjoyed the Mongolian beef! What neither my gf nor I cared for was the bbq pork and there was no hot mustard anywhere to be found. The iced tea was great and they were quick with a refill. PEOPLE RUN!! First time here and never returning. I'm not even a picky eater, I ate a plate and maybe a quarter of my second plate. We went for Father's day dinner which was an up charge ($25.99). I get it, it's a super busy day but definitely not worth it. I was hoping maybe they'll have a special dish or 2 out for Father's day plus the upcharge but no, nothing good or special. They literally pack this place up. We had a large table of 11, got seated inside but then they added a family to the booth next to us but had to add a 5th chair at the end. I'm not sure how they expected that to work out. We end up putting the smallest kids next to that table because neither parties could in and out of their area. Super smart right? I understand it's a buffet but it's SO disgusting here. The waiting area smells like bathroom cleaner or a bathroom freshener hiding the horrible smell in there. I noticed right away there was so much trash and dropped food on the floor underneath our tables. Our tables were sticky, I try to slide the napkin wrapped utensils to my kids and they would not even slide. Even my chair had sticky spots...ewww! Nothing was good. I honestly think this place is going downhill. This is my second time coming to this place, and this was the worst experience. Food was at least two to three days old. -That bad!- No matter what I tried, it had an ugly old flavor. Chicken, pork, beef, crab. The crab has been reheated so many times, the meet was glued to the carcass shell. Terrible! And you pay almost $17.00 - $18.00 to eat this crappy food?! Seriously? Why do I waste my money!!? This place is way too expensive to be so disappointing. The selection is meh and the food is greasy and bland - but that's if you can even get close to it. The buffet is in three sections that are shoved together in the back so that everyone is bumping into everyone, there's no comprehensible flow of traffic, people are all piled up around a few popular dishes so that you can't get to them or get past them, and it's all very chaotic. The atmosphere is basically like a Chuck E. Cheese where every table is having a birthday party. There are a thousand children underfoot or milling about and yelling for some reason. The dining room feels very small with so many people packed so close together. I'd have rated this 2.5 stars but not 3. I had lunch and for $12.00 it was certainly worth that, but I would have gladly paid more for better quality. The Sushi was made cheaply and made the experience for me disappointing. No Tuna, No Salmon sushi, lots of rolls made with a lot of rice and a little fish add on. The Chinese dishes were made well but boring. The whole experience was satisfying, but disappointing if that makes any sense. We had been wanting dine here for over a year...but was just never in the area. I am genuinely upset we didn't go here sooner. We have been to many buffets and this is near the top of our list and when you account for the price it was a bargin. We arrived at 1:30pm on a Saturday and it was busy, but not overly crowded. I work in the service industry, and everything was at the proper temperatures and seemed fresh...uncommon in a buffet. I had four plates and ate everything I took. I easily ate $20 worth of sushi...the ahi tuna was excellent. The only item I took issue with was the fish fillets (I think Pollack...but maybe Cod). The flavor seemed a bit off. But honestly it could have been me as I am not a big fish person to begin with. Staff was attentive, without being obtrusive. Our waters and teas were always full (my pet peeve) and the check arrived in a timely manner. Our bill was about $42. Two meals, two teas. So about $50 with tip. For a buffet with King Crab and lobster, this was a deal. Although, I will say that I think I would be happy with the weekday lunch buffet for $12. My assumption is no crab or lobster and such...but I'm on board! Okay. This isn't Salty's (#1 in my book for about $50...$10 addtional for unlimited mimosas), or Portland City Grill (#2. Again, about $50...$10 additional for unlimited mimosas), or even Multnomah Falls Lodge (#3. $25...$5-10 for unlimited champagne and/or mimosas.) But I was very happy with my experience and felt good about the value and tipping 20%. I did read a handful of reviews, and many people stated they were told by staff that they did not place any more food out after 8:30pm...and they are open till 10pm. This place is clean and simple. Rolls: On point for the style. These are american style mostly over the top with cheap fish. The sushi that you are normally happy to pay 6/7 dollars a roll. They also uave cool otger box style sushi that are always fun. Nothing very traditional, but nothing is gross, old, or sub par. Just not the fancy traditional Japanese wears. Hot Food: great across the board, all decent meat quality, its busy (mostly asians eatting here, which says something i feel about its quality) all sorts of general asian food and some american favorites to join in. There are fancier more expensive shushi only restaurants but Mizumi has a very big variety and they were all fresh tasting and delish. A lot of empty trays, hibachi station was NEVER restocked w meat, and veggies everywhere. Sushi is subpar, I'd rather enjoy sushi at an actual sushi restaurant. My best item was the crouton. I would periodically come here every couple months to get some sushi and seafood. However, on a Saturday night they had some lobster so I decided to try it out. I cracked open the claw and found the meat to be a greenish-brown color. The manager says it's just dry but everybody else on Facebook says it's rotten. I didn't eat it and the restaurant did not pull the lobster from the serving line. I always knew buffet food is lower quality but not to the point where rotted lobster is served. Let me just put it this way, $16.99 for unlimited salmon & tuna sashimi( all top quality), crab legs, Chinese style salt n pepper sautéed crab, lobster, shrimps, at least 10 types of sushi rolls and nigiri, there's other good hot plates including walnut chicken and orange chicken. The whole buffet is extremely clean and inviting, i was so surprised first time I was there, all the servers were super friendly, constantly checking upon us, changing plates and refilling drinks. I came back for lunch today and was shocked when they brought up the check, it's only $9.70 during weekday lunch, I ate at least 10 baked mussel today so for sure it's more than what I paid for. Particularly the tea bag they use is premium quality Ito en ones, I was more than satisfied cuz good drinks are kinda important to me. It was a Saturday and we have the reservation for 7:30pm, I was a little irritated because the girl had made a comment about if "it's after 8:30 we don't make more food" so I repeated the question and she stated "well, if people ask then we will" so I just gave them a shot. Don't know how it took so long for me to get over here to eat at an Asian/Japanese buffet so close to where I live! 8D We came in here for a late lunch yesterday, around 3:00 in the afternoon, and it was decently busy, but not packed. I've been in this building before when it was Hometown Buffet, and they actually did some updates to make it more "Japanese"! Not a terrible amount, but the presentation was nice. The dining area was clean, with some kids walking around here and there (typical of any buffet in my opinion), and I thought the presentation of the food was good. Everything was stocked, and the food was reasonable for what you were paying for. The sushi, for example, was typical of those conveyor belt sushi restaurants; the crab wasn't super super amazing but there was meat in the leg of the crab and that's what you expect at these kinds of places. I like the variety of food. I think you can see the menu on their website. Like I said, you get what you pay for, and as long as you know that, I don't see why this place would be disappointing (: Some things were so-so, and other things were super tasty. Next to its right, there is a Grill Bar ready with fresh meats and veggies of your selection to be grilled by the Chef. In the center of the buffet, there is the hot food, ranging from crabfish, prawns, river and ocean crab legs, ribs, gyozas, green beans, rice, spring rolls, chicken skewers, etc. At the far right, the salad/dessert buffet featuring fruits, jellies, pastries and some salad items, some fresh, some canned. By the plates, you have the 3 soups option; hot and sour, miso and egg flower. In front, there is the freezer, with either vanilla or chocolate very hard ice cream cups and/or frozen icy pols 4th of July colors in January. They look like leftovers. Good customer service from the 2 servers in charge of the whole dining room floor. They ran from side to side getting drinks, utensils, clearing plates, etc. Must say, it's an okay place for Asian food, if you are not Japanese. Any person or group of people that prefers Quality over quantity, will not like this place. I suffered food poisoning. To start off with, I think the majority of all buffets are mediocre, especially when it comes to an aisan buffet. I think 3 stars is pretty decent for a buffet because there are a lot of critical things that go on in a buffet. I thought the food was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It was just okay I guess. This is by far, one of the few buffets that I've seen that actually had a lot of sushi. There were different types of rolls as well as just sashimi pieces. The quality of the fish isn't the greatest but it wasn't terrible. The rolls had way to much rice in it too. All the other food items were okay. Nothing really stood out. They did have a mongolian noodle stations and they can cook that fresh for you and I thought that was pretty good. Lots of crab legs, clams, mussels and all that and those were good too. Their beef and broccoli was also good as well as the soup. The dessert bar was lacking though. They need more items out there. They do serve ice cream but they do not leave that out. You have to ask the manager or the waiters/waitress and they can give you a cup of ice cream. They had chocolate and strawberry when I came but ran out of vanilla. Came here on a Friday night. Was excited to get good seafood and especially some fresh crab. After being seated was asked if we wanted drinks. Came to find out that not even soda is included in the $18 dinner buffet price. Headed off to find that seafood! The crab legs are small and there was nothing around to help crack them open. Made a mess getting to the meat and was disappointed that they didn't have much flavor. The rest of the buffet is made up of sushi, lots of fried food, salad, Chinese food, and a hibachi grill. The only thing I really enjoyed was the hibachi grill station. For dessert you can have chocolate sheet cake, probably from Safeway or Costco. A few other cheap looking items were there but the cake looked the most appetizing. It reminded me of a child's birthday cake. I don't see the value here. The food quality was disappointing. Then I realized that said buffets in Beaverton are way better. If you strip it down to it's parts here is what you have. Your typical Chinese buffet with your typical corner cutting items like, hot and sour soup that is probably sold by the barrel, that orange chicken that is more breading than chicken, and bananas with bright red sauce. Slightly...and I mean slightly above average sushi. They have lots of different rolls, but the rice is a little underseasoned and dry. I found a couple that were passable to go back for seconds. A hibachi grill. This was actually my favorite part. Skip the bland other stuff, the pork was seasoned quite well, and the end product was something that I very well may have spent the money on by itself. You know the drill. For dinner they have crab legs and salt pepper prawns. They are pretty good and if you want to pig out on them on they cheap, then this might just be your place. Overall I was not impressed. I don't know if I would have paid a dollar more for it, but it is a fair enough deal. I had high hopes for Mizumi but it fell a little short for me. There is a severe lack of buffet options in the Tigard area and Mizumi seems to be the go-to place. There is a Mongolian grill in the same parking lot, but it seems strange to me to eat there when it's cheaper to have mizumi for lunch and just a few dollars more to eat here for dinner. The buffet area is setup very nice, but the options are surprisingly limited compared to what I would expect. There were thin noodles in one area and thick noodles in another. It seemed like they were trying to spread out the foods and repeat options to make it seem like a bigger variety. On the plus side, there were plenty of sushi options and a hibachi grill so I'd still say a very good value for the price. Dinner does have some shrimp options and crab legs and is priced much higher than lunch. If you live in the area, it would make sense to eat here vs driving 20 minutes to the next buffet but I wouldn't recommend driving from out of the area to eat here. Probably best for locals. The staff was very friendly and there was nothing specific that I could say that I gave a 4 star rating rather than 5, but just emotionally it fell a little short of my expectations. Here's the thing about a place like this: you know exactly what you're in for, namely, piles and piles of mediocre food at a reasonable price. If you're expecting anything better, you'll be sadly disappointed. Even with my expectations set appropriately low, I was disappointed. My strategy is usually to taste a whole bunch of things and go back for the few that I enjoy. In this case, I never found those few. I was suckered in by the sushi station, which had pictures of beautiful nigiri all over, but in fact only offered rolls during a weekday lunch. Be it the sushi, the appetizers, the soups, or the desserts, everything lacked flavor. I can't speak to the stir fried items, fried items, or individual proteins, as I avoided those grease bombs. I don't even know how they managed to prepare flavorless wasabi, but they managed. The one exception was the seaweed salad, which tasted exactly like I imagine a wet dog rolled in sesame oil tastes. On the plus side, service is attentive, the place is surprisingly clean, including all the food service areas, and I liked the coconut macaroon. $9.75 for a weekday lunch.
