Did CrossFit, SPENGA (spin, strength, yoga), Lagree, and went back to traditional gym workouts as well. Nothing ever really satisfied the same. After moving back to Cali a couple years ago, same thing. Did Lagree for a long time and love it but I missed powerlifting and the satisfaction of lifting heavy in strength training. I grew tired of traditional gyms especially with how crowded they get here. So I started looking for small group or personal training places. Lo and behold, I find MFitness, less than a mile from my house too. MFitness is a small, intimate and still mighty space with state of the art equipment. Similar feel to that gym I loved and miss in Colorado but more personal training focused at a price that still feels affordable. You get a lot with it too such as the nutrition coaching app Mike uses. I started out once a week and moved to twice a week after a few months. I've referred friends and family like my mom - bought her class packs as gifts and it's really invaluable and priceless to see her get stronger and feel more stable on her feet after recovering from a stroke. And it's fun to workout along side her. Mike will give us each our own unique workout each session. There is also an option to add on private gym access so I can come and workout on my own as well during their business hours. Lots of high techy features here as well like a very cool water machine with sparkling, flavors, and electrolyte options. And fancy door access through your phone that also helps you feel safe if you're there working out alone. Mike is great and will adapt workouts to your needs on the fly. I seem to be perpetually nursing a minor injury, so he always works around my needs. He is so easy to talk to and genuinely cares about every single person who walks in his door. Stephani, his wife, is also so sweet to work with and manages operations and scheduling. They are a dynamic team and it feels so good to support such family oriented businesses like theirs. I'm so glad to have found this new gym home and would highly recommend it to anyone looking. The evidence behind strength training is countless and it doesn't matter your weight or health status - you WILL improve your health and longevity long term. It's really the best investment. And if you're like me and would rather have a personalized workout with someone there coaching and cheering you on, then this is the place for you :)

However before getting to the facility we were in touch with the owner, but the follow-up wasn't clear. We were supposed to be sent waivers and that didn't happen. We had to go up to one of the trainers so sign a waiver and no one was able to tell us the pricing which was strange. Part of me felt like we were being excluded for some reason and we ended up going somewhere else. The workout itself was great and the facility was clean and organized. I just won't be returning personally, but others should give it a try. It looks like they may be looking for a specific type of person to join and that wasn't us.

Adam is an Angel. He saved my son and my family…read more I found Adam in my desperate search to help my 30 years old son with some learning disabilities. My son was getting older and bigger day by day, and I couldn't help him. It wasn't that he was eating junk food since I cook everyday and I tried to cook as healthy as possible to best of my knowledge, but we were not getting any where because he was not exercising, overeating, and attacking the refrigerator late at night, and I couldn't find that motivation for him. Then one day I found Adam's information while I was searching and I felt connected to him because of his own personal journey. He was almost the same age as my son too. I knew right away that this is my last chance. We met with Adam last December and my son has been on his weigh loss journey with Adam for almost a year. Adam helped my son to understand the process of losing weight and inspired him through his journey. He has been with him in every step of the way and held his hand every minute that he asked for guidance. My son has lost a lot weight, almost 6 dress sizes, and gained muscles in areas that were occupied by FAT last year. The main point to Adam's program is...sticking to it. He is very knowledgeable and really lays it…read moreout for what it is; nutrition first and foremost. You can train all you want, hit the gym for three hours a day, seven days a week, and run the lengths of the LA Marathon; but no permanent change will come if you don't maintain sustenance in your diet. Adam taught me the basics and even went beyond when he saw that I was making the gym an avid routine. From helping me enroll into the gym, showing me where to start and where to stop given my endurance/stamina, and, already noted, what to eat and very importantly-WHEN TO EAT IT; he knows it all regarding fitness. From macros, micros, to things us Americans love known as simple sugars (CARBS!), it's all about timing. You can eat a brownie (a small one, don't get cray) before the gym and actually convert it to fuel if you time its consumption just right. But you probably shouldn't do this with a cheesecake, because its substantial fat content will be detrimental to your work-out/gains. Before Adam's program, I would have thought "What's the difference? Isn't it all about the calories you take in and how fast you burn them?" Wrong!!! Bodies are different, nutrients are different, and they operate hand in hand. Rule of thumb; Carbs are always burned the fastest. Most important lesson I obtained during my time with Adam; knowledge makes all the difference. So you wonder "Why did I stop?" Simply put; you have to want it. And I did for a while. The endorphins, the energy, and most importantly; the changes. I actually started to see alterations in my body; from tiny biceps to sculpting pecs to less belly fat (I am a small guy but as us guys know; when we gain fat, it goes to the gut!). I was genuinely very comfortable in my own skin for what was a long time. But, life happens and other priorities took over. I will say this; the knowledge Adam taught me sticks with me on a day to day basis. My diet has remained nearly the same as when we trained together and I have actually maintained my weight. So, for those of you who want to make a sincere LIFESTYLE change (sounds redundant, but that's what it is); I highly recommend giving Adam's program a go. The gains, in body, mind and spirit, are inevitable.
